Ripped from a dead-end life and plunged into a world where danger lurks behind every smile, Xiulan must learn to thrive in a realm ruled by ruthless ambition and deadly secrets.
When Li Mei dies in a traffic accident after another soul-crushing retail shift, she awakens in a familiar yet dangerous inside her favorite game, Phoenix Kingdom Chronicles. Now inhabiting the body of Lin Xiulan, the scorned second daughter of a noble family, she finds herself thrust into a nest of vipers where her very existence is an offense to those around her.
Armed only with her knowledge of the game and the wounds from a lifetime of dealing with entitled customers, Xiulan refuses to play the role of the family’s punching bag. Determined to rise above, she must master immortal alchemy, tame arcane spirit beasts, perfect her martial arts, and face off against her scheming sisters and stepmother.
In the Kingdom, power means everything. Weakness invites destruction, and Xiulan must do more than simply survive and fade into the background.
With the knowledge of a devastating future that awaits the realm’s beloved Crown Princess, she’ll need every ounce of her modern wit and growing abilities to prevent a catastrophe that would ruin the entire realm. All assuming she can survive her own family long enough to do anything about it.
Only by transforming herself can Xiulan hope to protect those she comes to care about.
The MC does not seem to be the protagonist of the book, in my opinion her powers are quite lame and weak.
An excellent book excellent MC great side characters. Hope they brought back in the second book whenever it comes out. Read this book as well on Audible. The narrator is excellent. The only issue I have is that the MC doesn’t seem like the main protagonist, actually I think her powers are quite lame as opposed to her companions. I hope this situation changes in the second book whenever it is released. That’s the only issue and reason I give it four stars because the MC should be the driver of the book. Will read the next one when it comes out, and what’s the deal with backpacks please give these people spatial rings or some sort of into dimensional storage. devices.
I very much sympathized with Xiulan quite a bit. She definitely had a rough go of it, but along with the adversity, there were moments of light. Liked the found family aspect as well. I’m very much hoping for a just as lengthy sequel. 1082 pages on my Kindle app. Probably one of the most appealing aspects of serial/web novels that I appreciate. I want to bask in worlds of action, adventure, and danger. Shorter works have their positives, too, of course.
I've enjoyed all your books so far. This is great how the hero evolved from nothing to true cultivator. She will be expert in all fields. Hope gets better with her brother, but that's life. It's non-stop adventure. Her sensi already knows she has two souls merging as one!
