Kathy! you're killing me in a great way!

First and foremost, Thank you Kathy for bringing to the forefront a very real, very true issue many people deal with today. I wish that more people would openly write about this subject so that more people could take and educate themselves and be more aware.

Now, my review...
How the heck do I write a review for a book that is pure fabulousness? The crossover from Shelter Me into Rescue Me... So well done it felt like I didn't have a wait for this book! I love that you didn't leave me thinking well... What happened between book one and book two? The snapshots of past characters kept me enthralled. When I read a series, I like to be kept up to date with characters I've read previously. This is a heart warming story. From the love that Adam and Erin have with each other to the openness that Adam has with loving Sierra. This book, while fiction, could easily be someone's life. And I'll admit... It had me panting! Talk about saucy and sensual... Not overtly filled with sex, boy was it good! I had to put my kindle down several times take deep breaths and ravish my husband! ( he thanks you by the way) Adam and Erin's relationship isn't perfectly written but that's a good thing. It makes them more realistic. More able for readers to connect. While Joel is a villain and almost scary like, he too was written in the sense that the reader could actually identify with him or know someone that IS him. But what book wouldn't be complete without the resident skank.... Lol I loved it and hated it and was glad for it! Shelby is definitely quite the character. She's vulgar, obstinate and oh man I want to be her! She's the perfect sister for the withdrawn and slightly held back Erin. Kathy, this book is pure genius!!

Rescue Me by Kathy Coopmans

Erin McIntyre has had it rough, however she is strong. A single mother of her six year old daughter she will do anything and everything to survive. When Erin is offered a safe place to stay and a new job she felt maybe her luck is changing. Something good and positive, she is introduced to her cousins best friend Adam. Before Erin knows it Adam becomes more than a friend. She is scared of this, she has major trust issues.

Adam Payne believed he would be alone forever. He was totally okay with single life. Until Erin McIntyre entered his life. He instantly fell for her. Adam wants to take care of her, love her and make her feel that she deserves the love he has for her no matter what. He won't allow for distractions to pull them apart he know that they can make it work.

Erin past comes to haunt there new beautiful relationship. Erin isn't use to feeling this way about a man nor trusting one. Will she pack up and run or will she allow the love she so deserves?

Kathy Coopmans novel titled Rescue Me. This is book 2 in Kathy's Shelter Me Series. I totally could not wait to read Adam's Story. He was Luke's best friend in Shelter Me. I must say Kathy has done it again. Some words I used to describe this novel are: thrilling, phenomenal, captivating and just plain BEAUTIFUL!!! Kathy has again captured my heart in this story. I literally read this is one sitting. Kathy has a keen sense in story-telling. While reading this I can tell this story came straight from her heart. When reading Shelter Me, I felt that the writing was perfect and then in Rescue Me she just wowed me! This author was born to write! Personally I have to connect to the characters or nothing will flow for me no matter how sexy the couple seems on paper. The emotions that Erin & Adam had left me speechless and I wanted more and more. I am still suffering from a big book hangover. Kathy will be a go to author of mine from now on. If you are ready for an emotional roller coaster and fantastic story let Rescue Me....rescue you!!

I give Rescue Me 5 out of 5 stars

Review of Rescue Me (Shelter Me #2) by Kathy Coopmans

Review done for Hooked on Books

4 ½ out of 5 stars

Kathy Coopmans has blown me away with this book. I really enjoyed book 1; “Shelter Me”, but Rescue Me has totally surpassed all expectations for a follow up.

I truly loved Erin McIntyre. She is a survivor and beautiful person. She used all her strength to save her daughter and herself from an abusive husband. When Shayne, her best friend, asked her to move to be closer to her, Erin takes a chance at a new life for her and her daughter.

She moves in with Shayne’s cousin Adam. He is gorgeous and so sweet. Erin is instantly attracted but is too scared to explore the attraction.

Adam has never really thought about being in love but as soon as he sets eyes on Erin, there is nothing else he can think of. He wants forever with her. He knows about her past and is determined to show her how beautiful she is and how much he loves her and her daughter.

Unfortunately, Erin’s worst nightmare is back with a vengeance. He wants to punish her and he won’t stop until he breaks her.

This was a powerful story of abuse and survival. The author did a beautiful job expressing emotions of the characters and I think her story will hit home with a lot of readers. I hope readers that relate will see that they are not worthless and that they are not alone.

I definitely recommend this book and cannot wait to read book 3.

This is book two in the Shelter Me Series and can be read as a stand alone.
This is Adam's and Erin's story.
I gave this book 5 stars.

Erin has been through so much and the violence in her life that she has endured has left her closed off and afraid to let anyone in. Adam feels such an attraction and connection with Erin and wants to stop at nothing to prove to her that not everyone is the same. He will have his work cut out for him, because even if Erin does want to give him a chance her mind has other ideas. It will not be easy for him to prove to Erin that he will change her life forever if she will just let him.

This was a beautiful story. That has issues that are not comfortable for everyone, but they are issues that do need to be talked about. The author handled these issues with great taste and care. Come along on the journey as Erin learns to let her walls down, as she realizes no not every man is the same and sometimes life does give you second chances to do thing right.

A wonderful, loving story that YOU do NOT want to miss.
Thank you Kathy I cannot wait to read the next book in your series.

I love this story !
I Freaking Love Kathy Coopmans

Rescue Me is the second Book in the Shelter Me series and it is PERFECT!
This is Adam and Erin's story whom you are introduced to in "Shelter Me"

Erin suffered a marriage full of physical and mental abuse. Now that she has escaped the hands of her now ex husband she makes a vow to never love or trust again.
Trying to make a fresh start for her and daughter she finds herself packing up leaving Texas and moving to Michigan where her best friend Shayne now is.
OMG Adam is perfect..
Sweet kind Adam never thought he would find love. He is a bit of a player likes that fact of not being tied down. Now with his Cousin Shayne best friend Erin and her daughter living with him he now finds himself falling in love with this wonderful broken woman and her beautiful daughter. Problem is convincing Erin she is worthy of his love.

Just as Adam starts breaking down the walls she has built up around her heart. Erin's past shows up and takes it all away. Will Adam be able to rescue Erin from her past? We they get their HEA ? Read the book and find out ! You won't be able to put it down. You will laugh, you will most likely cry but you will love every minute of it .

Firstly I salute this author for raising the issue of domestic abuse and despite this brilliant book being fiction as a d.v worker myself unfortunately Domestic abuse is very much real in the lives of many women and an increasing issue.

Erin is a domestic abuse survivor and struggles to love and trust again until she has the healing soothing words and love from her best friends cousin Adam.

let me tell you about Adam this BBF is amazing.

Theres lots of swooning,lust & love,family bonds,danger,drama & epic conclusion.

I am very much looking forward to the next book with Erin's sister, that girl has fire and Antonio is such a man whore, that will be a fab read.

Kathy Coopmans writes like a seasoned veteran. She creates characters and a world in which you're drawn in immediately and surrounded with--like a blanket on a cold night.

No one can write Alpha hero's quite like Ms. Coopmans. This one.. well Adam.. he's my favorite (and since I fell in love with her first book that's hard for me).

He's a sweet Alpha that falls head over heels for his woman and has a dirty mouth to make any woman (including me) melt!

This book deals with a very serious issue and does so in a way that is real and heart breaking and inspiring all at the same time. I can only give this book 5 stars, but I would give it more if possible.

Amazing. Simply Amazing. Kathy Coopmans has become my go to author and a must read.

This book was really good, and I liked it better than the first one. Adam is such a wonderful man and it would almost be impossible not to fall in love with him. Erin is such a strong survivor but she is still dealing with a lot of insecurtities that abuse victims deal with on a daily basis. I cannot wait to read Shelby's and Antonio's story next.

But through it all shining bright is the love and friendship amongst these families.

Rescue Me by Kathy Coopmans was a fantastic book that I was so looking forward to reading. After reading her first book, Shelter Me, I was more than eager to get back with the characters that captured me in, and to spend more time in the awesome book world that she created.

This book tells the story of Adam and Erin. We met both of them in Shelter Me, but Rescue Me is truly their story. It’s a story of overcoming the pain of the past, recognizing the strength in yourself, and recognizing the power and passion that comes from love.

I loved this book. I loved Adam and Erin to pieces. They were both such endearing characters that had qualities I couldn’t resist loving. Their story is filled with so much emotion and passion and vulnerability, and it truly captures what it means when two people attempt to rescue one another.

Adam was just about the sweetest man that could be. I could not get enough of that man. He was so effing sweet and the words that came out of his mouth just about had me melting in such a good way. Through his actions, the things he says, and just the way he is, you can tell the goodness that just emanates from him. I am telling you that you will bask in all of the sweetness that is that man, and there is no way that you won’t fall under his spell.

Erin’s character is probably the definition of strength. Though she doesn’t always feel that and she doesn’t always know that she possesses the strength that she does, her characters is beyond strong. That strength defines her in the best possible way, and it will have you admiring her, loving her, respecting her, and caring for her with all you have. Erin is the epitome of a strong female character, and I have no doubt that when you meet her character you will instantly love her for who she is.

The feelings and connection that Erin and Adam share are conveyed extremely well in this book, and you will feel how deep those feelings truly go. You will feel that when you read this book in the words they speak to each other, the heartwarming moments they share, and even in those moments when things are not so easy. You will just feel and embrace all of that feeling because it will show you how intense and deep Adam and Erin feel about one another.

One of my favorite aspects about this book was how real it was. The characters, the story, the issues that come up. They are all real, and they feel real. That makes this everything feel so believable and it just made this book all the more enjoyable to read because I believed everything I was reading. Rescue Me also presents some very real issues. I won’t say what they are, but just know the way Kathy Coopmans addresses and writes these issues feels so authentic, and you will just be blown away by that.

The pacing of this book was out of this world. I couldn’t put the book down because of how well paced it was. Nothing felt too fast or too slow, it all just felt right. The events of this book keeps you engaged in the story and the characters the entire time. That pacing just enhances everything that you’re feeling when you’re reading too. This book will have your heart melting and breaking at times, your adrenaline pumping at others, and your whole self dying to know how it’s all going to come together.

There are some pretty awesome and distinctive supporting characters in this book. They each have their own unique personality that adds to the Erin and Adam’s story. I was happy to be back with many of the characters I met in Shelter Me, but I was also thrilled to meet the new additions to this book. Shayne, Luke, Antonio, Shelby, and all the rest of the engaging supporting characters are just another factor that will have you loving this book.

There is such a feel of family to this book, and I just loved that. You feel that with the friendships and different relationships that all of these characters share. Feeling that sense of family just amplifies what is going on in this story, and it will just have you falling more in love with these characters and Erin and Adam’s story.

There is so much fight in this book and I just love that. Erin is fighting to find the strength that lies within herself. Adam is fighting for what the two of them could share together. They’re both fighting for what they could share together, and they’re both fighting against the pains of the past that seem to be lurking around the corner. That level of fight makes you want to fight right along with these characters, and you will just love the reading experience that that fight gives you.

Rescue Me was just a fantastic book that had characters I loved, a story I couldn’t put down, and just so many aspects that made it great.

Erin and Adam have a story that has so much wonderfulness to it. They’re story is one that will capture you in from the moment you start it, and in the end you will be dying for the next chance you get to spend more time with these characters.

If you’ve yet to begin these books by Kathy Coopmans I urge you to start Shelter Me this instant, so that you can soon thereafter find yourself encapsulated in the fantasticness that is Rescue Me. Erin and Adam’s heartfelt story is waiting for you, so get to reading it this instant!

This is an excellent story line and well thought out. I do love the characters and it held my interest. More in depth and easier to connect with than the first book. The writing, well the words, were too formal at times for me and a little too much cliches but all in all it was a good read.

WOW Kathy is really pulling out all the stops and she is only 2 books into her writing career !! As much as I loved Luke and all the things going on in Shelter Me , dare I say Rescue Me is even better !! Adam is so swoonworthy and alpha HOT OMG melting panties everywhere !! There is also a story of domestic violence here so be warned some scenes may not be for everyone. It is heartbreaking yet heartwarming all in one.

We know from book 1 that this is a great group of friends/family. They love hard and protect fiercely. Adam and Erin have already formed a great friendship and his relationship with her daughter has been wonderful too. Adam took them in when Erin escaped her horrible marriage and he has been there for her since. Although this happened in book 1 I remember not only feeling the spark between them but also the genuine love and need to help that Adam was holding in. No shock to me that things will progress the way they do and thankfully we are not put through the ringer with the running away from each other drama !! This story has bigger issues to deal with.

Erin is a fighter and a survivor in our eyes but she does not feel this way of course. She feels weak and beaten down , undeserving of a good man. The horrors that she escaped from are eye opening. The road back to happiness was not easy , Erin's flashbacks happened at the worst times and they were heartbreaking. Having said that it was so exciting to watch Erin come out of her shell and accept Adam's feelings and face her own. I loved watching the progression of their relationship and the honest and genuine emotion they both shared . Their chemistry was off the charts and her ability to trust in him for pleasure was very arousing !! Her life is a rollercoaster of emotion and struggle but she makes an honest attempt to get herself there finally realizing she does deserve this mans love for her and her daughter !! Of course there may be someone who doesn't think Erin deserves this happiness and their many attempts to ruin this for her will have you on the edge of your seat.

ADAM !!!!!!!!!
I can't say enough about him , he is one fine man , genuine and honest and just so many things wrapped into one !! In book 1 he was a great cousin to Shayne and awesome friend to help Erin and her daughter. He wasn't the relationship type but as we know in life it only takes that one special person to turn your whole world around and this is what Erin and Sierra are to Adam. Adam has a great construction business and great friends , he is protective and helpful to everyone he holds dear. Once he has his mind set on Erin he spends his days doing all he can to prove to her he is the one. He is gentle and patient and then he is rough and frantic when she needs him to be. I loved seeing all sides of Adam. It has been a struggle for him knowing what Erin went through , even more so now not knowing how to handle her between the flashbacks and the lack of experience with a sexual relationship. Again Adam is just about as perfect as you can imagine !! He may just get his HEA after all and believe me he deserves it !! But just before he gets there he may have to fight a little harder because Erin's past not only wants to ruin her but also wants to take away as much from Adam as they can.

SHELBY !! She is my hero , I am so excited for her book for so many reasons !! I think she may be one of the best sisters in the book world I have met. She may seem a little hard , a little stuck up but wait until you see her in action OMG she really is wonderful. I loved the lead in we got for her and Antonio and I am praying for an HEA for them too !!

Great story filled with raw emotion , very easy to relate and connect to the characters. Just the right amount of drama and suspense to hook you and the scorching sex will keep you hot and bothered !!

After Kathy announced that we would get Erin and Adams story, I absolutely could not wait. Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months and I anticipated the release of Rescue Me. And it's finally here, and I devoured their story in one sitting!

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Erin McIntyre is a survivor. A scared, and broken single mother. We first met Erin in Shelter Me, she was Shaynes best friend. When Shayne moved to Michigan, she asked Erin to move as well. And she did, leaving her sister behind in order to make a fresh start for both her and her six year old daughter Sierra.

Adam is Shaynes cousin. Dark, shaggy blonde hair, and piercing green eyes. He was not looking for love... but when he set eyes on Erin when he helped moved her from Texas, he knew she was the one. He is a man that is not afraid to speak his mind to tell you exactly how he feels, the kind of man that will go out of his way for a single mother. Adam also offered Erin a place to stay when she moved to Michigan.

Erin is scared to love again, and convinced that giving her heart to a man will only lead to pain, Erin remains steadfast, certain the only person she can trust is herself. With Shayne and Lukes wedding approaching quickly, Erin wants to get out on her own so that Adam can move on with his life and find someone to fall in love with. When she goes to deliver the news to Adam, things quickly changed from there.

Adam is determined to show Erin that she is worthy of not only his love but worthy of herself, he is going all out to make Erin feel beautiful and loved again. He wants to show her that is she can trust him and that he will never hurt her, and the past won't repeat itself. But for Erin...this is hard.

Holy Moly. Things get steamy between Erin and Adam...and Adam WORSHIPS Erins body. Not only is he a good man, but hes an amazing lover ! Oh lord...where can I find an Adam of my own (sorry husband of mine).

"I am just getting started, my love. I don't think I could stop even if I tried. I have waited what seems like a lifetime to see you underneath me, and sweetheart, I am about ready to make you fly."

Not only is Adam a good man to Erin, but hes an even more amazing father figure to Sierra. He was able to steal my heart with the little glimpses of him simply playing cards with her, or the giggles and laughter leaving the two of them. And when Sierra wants to call him daddy....OMG...SWOON ! There is nothing better then a man being a father/daddy to a child!

Erin finally starts to give her heart over and Adam slowly starts to break down the walls surrounding her heart, but when someone from her past shows up at her doorstep, will Adam be able to Rescue Erin from her worst fear or will she pack up and run for the simple reason that the only thing she has ever known is her will to try and survive?

All of the characters in both Shelter Me and Rescue Me are fabulous. They all one big intertwined and happy family! Erins sister, Shelby, and Lukes brother Antonio, have something going on, and I am overly excited to hear their story in Keep Me. Shelby is a tough cookie, but I think Antonio is going to break her shell.

Unfortunately, so many women, well and men, these days are victims of Domestic Violence and abuse. Kathy only covered some aspects of it. Some women do not make it out of a Domestic Violence Relationship like Erin did and so many women do not have the support system that she does.

This is the second book in the Rescue Me series. Shayne’s friend Erin and her daughter moved to be Michigan to be closer to Shayne. After all there was nothing keeping them in Texas. Erin is damaged and has no self-worth. Her ex-husband was abusive, verbally and physically. Shayne’s cousin Adam came down to Texas to help them pack and move. Erin is attracted to Adam but what would he want with someone like her or at least that’s what Erin thinks and feels. Today’s is Shayne’s wedding she should be happy for her best friend but she can’t help but feel a little jealous. She wants what Shayne has a man who adores her and her child even if the child isn’t his. Adam is attracted to Erin; it’s not just that he finds her beautiful. He finds himself wanting to know everything about her, to spend every minute with her. He has been trying to break Erin’s walls down. He knows a little about her situation with her ex, mostly that she was abused. Adam can’t talk it slow anymore; he has to let Erin know how he feels. After watching some guy talk to her at the wedding reception he walks over and tells her that he wants her and then kisses her. After the kiss all Adam sees in her eyes is a broken woman. He asks her to just let him in. She tells him that it’s not him it’s her, that he can do so much better than her. Adam leaves the reception planning on staying at his office but then Erin calls. He goes home and Erin lets him know that she wants him just as much as he wants her but she is scared. He tells her he wants to take her on a date. Will Erin let Adam in, to show her how much he feels for her? Will Erin keep letting her past mess up her future?
This book was very emotional. Erin has no self-esteem because of her ex Joel. It started with putting her down and then progressed to hitting her. She stayed even after he said he was sorry and then did it again and again. She didn’t worry about leaving until the day he hit Sierra and then she knew that she needed to go. She hasn’t seen or talked to him in 4 years. She is so glad that Sierra can’t remember her father. Sierra never really asks about him either. Adam is determined to show Erin how great they can be if she just gives him a chance. He has never felt this way about a woman before. He can’t wait to show her how he feels and start to make a future with her. He loves Sierra like she is his own and as far as he is concerned she is his daughter. He would do anything for Erin and Sierra. There were lots of ups and down in this book. When Joel comes back Erin is thrown back to the person she used to be. She was finally starting to become the strong, beautiful person they knew was under there then he comes back. All it takes is one phone call. I loved how they all pulled together to help Erin and to keep her and Sierra safe. This book was wonderful and I love this series. I can’t wait to read more books in this series. The ending of this book was so emotional and wonderful at the same time.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.

Rescue Me
“You hold my heart, and I am the luckiest man in the world to have found you. This is just the beginning of our love, and I can't imagine growing old with anyone else but you. You rescued me, babe. And you're worth betting on for the rest of my life.” Adam
t of issues she has low self-esteem and she thinks that she isnt goof enough for any one the light of her life her daughter keeps her going.

This is the second in a stand alone series this is Erin and Adam's story.
Erin had a bad marriage she was a victim of domestic abuse her husband beat her and verbally abused her in more ways than one she had to leave him when he hurt their daughter. Erin has a lot of issues she has low self-esteem and she thinks that she isn’t goof enough for any one she thinks that she is broken and will never be fixed again.
Erin moved from Texas to start a new life she is living with Adam and she also works for him. They are just friends but they are having trouble staying that way. Adam has never wanted a serious relationship before he liked the single life but when he saw what it was like to be a family man just by having Erin and her daughter living with him they have stole his heart even before he realized it.
Adam wants nothing more than to take care of these two girls his girls but there is a dark past that he wants to break and help Erin out of.
There is only one problem Erin's ex husband comes back and he wants revenge for Erin leaving him. Will they be able to over come all the problems that they face not only as a new couple but with her crazy ex husband? Will Erin ever be able to not live in constant fear of being beaten or has Joel already destroyed her?
This story is a very dark story Erin has a lot going on she wants to love again and feel what it is like to truly be loved and not in fear of saying the wrong thing. She wants to hope and dream of a life for all three of them and not always have insecurities. This is not easy for her to get over. Adam loves her hard and falls fast. He wants to have the same life as she does. He dreams of marriage and more kids he wants to be there for them all the time and it scares him as much as it scares her.
But will the dark past catch up with the present and ruin everything they are trying to create?
Kathy Coopmans writes an amazing story of love with a little crazy mixed in to make this a five star book! She has become one of my favorite authors and she always takes you on an emotional roller coaster of emotions.. and there is a third book on its way!!
If you are looking for a new book boyfriend you need to meet Adam he is by far my favorite of her male characters.

My Golden Reads Review of Rescue Me

I was given an arc for an honest review.

This is the second book by Kathy and it starts where Shelter Me left off. Rescue Me is the story of Erin and Adam. All the characters from Shelter Me are brought back and a few new ones make an appearance.

I was scared, and I’m a mom, and when someone threatens to kill you if you ever try and call the cops, or worse yet, try and leave them, you believe them. You slip into a world of darkness, a world of hate; a world where you vow to yourself you will never love or trust a man again.

For four years, Erin has been living scared, broken, and feeling worthless after her ex-husband Joel beat her and she finally got the courage to leave and divorce him. The only person she has lived for is her daughter Sierra.

After Shayne, her best friend, convinces her to move from Texas to Michigan. Erin and Sierra move in with Adam, Shayne’s cousin. A man who she can’t get out of her thoughts or her dreams ever since she first set eyes on him several years ago when Shayne lived next to her.

Rescue Me is about Adam making Erin finally want to feel again. To learn to trust again. And most importantly, to love again.

I wasn’t sure if Adam’s commanding ways was what Erin needed to get her life back and start to trust and love again, but she seemed to respond to it. It was easy to see their strong physical and emotional pull to one another.

Adam does everything that he can to prove to Erin just how much she means to him. At first, she would be receptive to then slip away and he would have to start over again. But he was never deterred from wanting to show her that she and her daughter were his world.

It was so sweet to see such a strong and commanding man like Adam be so sweet and loving to Erin’s little girl and it brought tears to my eyes when that sweet little girl asked Adam if she could call him her daddy.

I think Kathy Coopmans did a great with this book and the way she wrote Erin’s struggling and surviving. Watching Adam break down the walls of Erin’s heart and letting him in. She even writes her supporting characters so well that you’re invested in the lives of everyone in her stories. She does a great job of providing a little bit of everything in her books and very little angst. I don’t want to give too much away but there are some heart pounding moments through most of the last half of the book.

Rescue Me by Kathy Coopmans is Book 2 in the Shelter Me series, Erin and Adams story. This book is not for the faint of heart. Its gritty, raw, detailed and heartwrenching. This is a story of a woman broken and shattered by the hands of an abusive ex-husband she manages to escape with the help of her best friend Shayne. It is a love story, but this road to happiness is a rough one, really rough. Kathy Coopmans had me crying big ugly tears and praying for some joy for Erin. This poor woman, if she was real, i just wanna tackle hug her. Seriously. Where Book One was happy and upbeat, this book was rapid fire turmoil and keeps you on your toes.
So Rescue Me picks up where Book One left off, Shayne and Luke's wedding. Erin and Sierra move up to Michigan to be close to her best friend and start over. She has nothing binding her to Texas and takes the plunge and moves with her daughter. Erin and Sierra stay with Adam, Shayne's cousin, in his big house and the attraction has been palpable and obvious to those around them, even if they choose to ignore it and not act upon it. Adam knows somewhat of Erin's history from what his cousin, Shayne has told him. But apparently, her Cliff notes synopsis of Erin's divorce and history at the hands of her abusive ex husband, Joel, are just the tip of the iceberg hiding the unseen deep seeded wounds on her heart, confidence and her battered soul. After Adam witnesses a panic attack worthy breakdown, for no (apparant trigger to him) reason, he starts his quest to deem himself worthy of her trust and love. This once "bed them and leave them" playboy is gutted by Erin and voluntarily handed in his player card after his first encounter with Erin in Texas. She holds his heart whether she knows it or not. But can Adam help Erin be free from the demons of her past? This demon is real and rears his ugly head, ready to shatter Erin once more. Adam loves Erin and her daughter Sierra and is ready to fight and rescue her once and for all.
I highly recommend this book to anyone. I suggest you keep tissues handy and a snuggle partner. This book makes me want to hug people, just to see them smile. I read this book straight through in a day praying for the HEA for these two. Now if Antonio can get his head out of his arse and man up and Shelby stop being such a headstrong brat in Book 3! Im looking forward to the next book and seeing how Kathy Coopmans' stories continue to evolve. I definitely see growth in her writing leaps and bounds from Book one to Book 2. Definitely a fan!! #NailedIt

From that prologue I was hooked! My heart absolutely broke for Erin! With everything she has to go thru in this book she truly is a survivor. Domestic violence is something no one should ever have to go thru and while I personally have never dealt with it, my sister did and I wish I could say she got her happily ever after at the end like Erin does but sadly I can't. My sister lost her life by the hands of her husband on Mother's Day 2013 at just 23 years old leaving behind 4 beautiful babies :( Just because you don't think it will ever happen to you or someone close to you, it can. I wish my sister would have reached out to us and told us more than she did but I truly think she had all her bases covered. I don't think she thought it would ever go as far as it did but......life for my family without her will never be the same.

Thanks to Erin's douche bag ex Joel, Erin doesn't feel worthy of love, not from anyone. She knows she has strong feelings for Adam but she doesn't think she could ever deserve someone like him. To me, every woman deserves a man like Adam!! One who will cherish her and love her unconditionally. The chemistry between the two of them was off the charts!! Will Erin keep pushing Adam away or will she give in to what she so despreatly wants? Adam is determined to make Erin his....just as he is beginning to crack threw her walls will her past come back to cause her to hold them up strong again? Will they ever get a HEA or will Joel ruin everything they worked so hard to build for themselves?

Sierra and Adam together will melt your heart!! I loved the relationship those two had together. A man who will love a child unconditionally whether he or she is biologically his or not is truly amazing!! I myself was blessed to have a father in my life who didn't have to be. He has been the only dad I have ever known and he never treated me any different than he did my brother and sister.

I loved getting more on Luke, Shayne and Lucy!! They all still hold a special place in my heart!! I can't wait for Antonio and Shelby to get their own book!! I freaking love Shelby and her bad azz attitude but after the events at the end of the book I know she is going to struggle with some things. Will Antonio be able to help pull her thru?

Kathy Coopman...absolutely amazing my friend!!! I can't wait to see what you have in store for us next!!

✯3.5 Rescuing Stars!!✯✯

I was so confused with how I felt about this book when I finished it. There were parts I really liked and other times I wanted to throw my Kindle against a wall! For me overall this was a good book. And, a quick read.

Erin's past few years haven't been to good. When her best friend Shayne goes back home and falls back in love she begs Erin to move there to. Erin decided that her & her daughter need a fresh start. A chance to be happy. Erin moves in with Shayne's cousin Adam things start to look up.

Adam has never had a problem getting a woman. But, he doesn't do relationships. At all! Then Erin moves in with him. She is unlike anybody he's ever met. And, her daughter. His butterfly. He plans on making Erin his. Because for the first time Adam wants a real relationship & a family. Erin is who he wants.

Over time they both breakdown their walls and learn to let go. Erin & Adam both want to be happy. They can't keep their eyes and hands off each other. Just when things were perfect, Erin get a phone call.

Erin's ex-husband has found her. This is where things start to go south for me. Erin's ex will not let Erin & his daughter go. Not without making Erin pay. He is a real piece of work. Adam, Erin and the rest of the gang from Shelter Me and a few new ones must find him. And, fast!

What really got me in this book was how the abuse was handled. Erin ex did a lot of terrible things to her. Multiple times! Now, me being in a relationship where I got beat pretty bad it wasn't easy to get over. I've never spoke to a woman who got sent to the hospital after getting beat up. Some almost getting killed. To going home with their boyfriends now and having a night filled with sex. It just doesn't happen.

Then, you have Erin daughter. Erin & Adam haven't been together long. At all! She's already calling him daddy?? Adam & Erin weren't even saying I love you yet!

Those 2 things were so unreal. ESP the first one. Now, if those things ESP the abuse-to-bed thing wasn't going on. My rating would of been higher. Even with that being said. I did really like the characters. And, am looking forward to the next couple. Who are probably going to be my favorite couple so far.

I had been anxiously awaiting the release of Rescue Me since the end of the first book in the series. Kathy Coopmans did not disappoint at all in her follow up to her stellar debut, Shelter Me. I was invested in Erin & Adam's story from page one and read it through in one setting. Even when it was over, I was yearning for more of their story.

Erin has been through hell and back and she has had enough with love. She has decided that it is high time that she moves on with her life and give her daughter, Sierra, the best and brightest future possible. So, she sets off to Michigan to be close to her best friend, Shayne (from Shelter Me- you don't have to read the first book to get this one though). She end up living with Adam, Shayne's cousin, and for some reason can't keep her thoughts or heart from wanting him. Adam, sweet, sexy confounding, Adam. He is a bit of a player and makes no excuses for his behavior, he likes his life the way it is. That is until Erin storms into his world and turns it upside down. Tensions are high between them until they finally, and I mean FINALLY give into their attraction to one another. Whew, was it ever worth the wait! Just when things are looking on the up and up, BAM! A blast from Erin's past is back to stir up trouble.

I loved how protective and open Adam was of Erin and Sierra. His interactions with that little girl just about melted my heart and made me like him all the more. I was so happy with Erin for claiming her future and being a warrior. She wasn't going down without a fight. She really came into her own and her true self was able to come back from the beating it took. I gave a mental high-five to myself when she stood her ground and risked it all to protect the ones she loved.

This book is not for the faint of heart; it is raw, gritty and gets really detailed in some not so pleasant circumstances. Kudos to Kathy Coopmans for not sugarcoating this brutality of Erin's abuse. However, the rest of the gang was there in full force to provide some lightness and humor. Everyone from Luke, Shayne, Antonio and Camilla were there with their shenanigans and quirks. I liked getting to see another side of Antonio and can't wait to get his story & meet the woman to bring him to his knees.

Rescue Me was sweet but intense read. This book was a bit different from Shelter Me because it had a slightly darker back story.

We first met Erin and Shane in book 1 to this series. I really liked Adam in the first book, so I was excited that he was getting his own story. Erin was Shayne's BFF and Adam was Shayne's cousin and best friend. You got the sense that these two had a connection but you never really knew what was going on between them.

Erin was divorced and single mom to a 6 year old girl. Four years ago she escaped her abusive ex-husband. Reading and picturing the horrible things that Erin had to survive was heartbreaking. It left her scared, heart broken, and feeling as if she wasn't good enough for someone else and she didn't think she could trust another man like that. When she moves to from Texas to Michigan, so she could start over, Adam offers to take her and her daughter in. The two of them have a good friendship but the quickly realize they both have feelings for one another.

Adam was a bachelor and he wasn't looking for any relationship but he couldn't help being attracted to Erin. He saw something special in her and he truly developed deep feelings for her. He truly cared about both Erin and her daughter. He wanted to show and convince Erin that what they had could be worth taking a chance.

Watching Erin and Adam slowly fall in love with each other was so sweet. The sexual tension, the conversations, and the fun these two had together, seemed so effortless. Erin still carried around a lot of pain and self doubt from her abuse but Adam was determined to make her see she was much stronger and beautiful than she thought. Adam was sexy, kind, and true sweetheart. The sexual chemistry between these two was scorching.

Along with their romance there was drama that followed Erin. It was intense and scary and my heart hurt for her. You wondered: could they get past this new threat?

The story kept my attention and loved seeing how these two fell for each other. Kathy wrote this book with a heart and it came through on the pages. Plus it was great to see Shayne and Luke from book 1.

Adam Payne believed he would be alone forever. He was totally okay with single life. Until Erin McIntyre entered his life. He instantly fell for her.

* ARC PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW *

Rescue Me (Shelter me #2) by Kathy Coopmans.Kathy did it again, she wrote an amazing second book in the shelter me series. This book was easy going and the connection between the characters where amazing. I felt like I was transported into the book.

This book talks about domestic violence so if you are not comfortable with the subject please do not read, but if you want to meet a strong woman than you need to meet Erin.

Erin McIntyre is a divorced mother with a six-year-old little girl and she also survived domestic abuse from her ex-husband... Her best friend moves back home to Lake Michigan to be with the love of her life. Erin is offered a new job and place to live by her best friend’s cousin Adam and she can’t refuse.

Can Erin move forward from her past or will her past define her future?

Adam becomes more than her friend. Erin is scared to love again especially a hot sexy man like Adam. She feels she is not worthy of Adam. She is also convinced that once she gives her heart to him it will only lead to pain.

Erin feels that she can only trust herself; will Adam be able to change her mind?

Adam never thought he would find love and he wasn’t looking for it, but he fell hard and fast for Erin. He is determined to show her that not only is she worthy of his love, but worthy of herself. Adam will stop at nothing to make Erin his. When they finally find their way together Erin’s past comes back.

When Erin’s past comes nocking, and threatening to tear her world apart. With support of Adam, the only person who believes in her more than she believes in herself will be the one thing that can keep her head above water. Erin is struggling with doubts and old habits are hard to break she is drowning in self-doubt can she let go and find love again.

Will Erin let go of her fears? Will she fight back or will she just pack up and leave? Are they stronger together or apart? Will Adam be able to save her? Can Adam and Erin find happiness?

I highly recommend this book.

5 Stars!

I loved this book! It was an amazing follow up to the first book in this series. This book was a very sweet and emotional book with a touch of suspense to keep you on your toes until the very end. This book totally rocked my world. It also took me on an emotional roller coaster that had me ranging from smiling ear to ear to crying a few tears. This author is definitely a must go-to!

This is Erin and Adam's story. Erin is taking a huge leap and uprooting her and her daughter's life to move closer to her best friend Shayne. Erin is a survivor and wants a clean break. Coming out of an abusive marriage, she is a shell of the woman she used to be. She has lost all faith in men, even if a certain sexy man named Adam is persistent about being her life, permanently. Adam is tired of the hook ups. When he meets Erin and after one passionate encounter with her pinned against a wall, he knows he has to make her his. But getting her to let go of fear and open up to him is going to be a challenge. As he falls in love with Erin and Sierra, he knows he will do anything in the world for them. Will Erin be able to heal and open her heart to love? Will Adam be able to show Erin what real love is? Will Erin and Adam be able to find a happy ending?

I loved Adam! He was so so so sweet! God, the way he was with Erin and Sierra was amazing. He was kind, gentle, touching, sweet, sexy, and uber OTT protective (and I seriously loved it hard!). And Erin! I loved her too!! This chick had me rooting for her hard. I wanted her to push and take the chance on love. And when she did, it was epic! And the chemistry between those two, sizzling! And sweet little Sierra, she literally broke my heart a couple of times then pieced it backed together! She was sooooo sweet! It was also nice to see Luke and Shayne...!

I cannot wait for the next story in this series! I cannot wait for a certain man to be brought to his sexy and bossy knees by a certain sassy woman! :) It's going to be epic!

I highly recommend this book!

Rescue Me is a heartbreaking and uplifting book all in one. It makes you cry—and I mean ugly cry—then has you awwwing moments later. It’s a story of survival at it’s best, about watching an abused woman struggle through the insecurities within herself after being beat down for so long and wondering if she’s worthy of being loved again.
Watching Erin break down walls and see if she’s capable of allowing another person into the mess of her emotions is an emotional journey, not only for the characters in the book, but for you as the reader.
And, the main guy in this story—oh my. I swooned hard. To see a man so hell bent on proving to a woman that she is worthy of love, that she is not broken, made me want to reach into my kindle and hug him like crazy. The sweetness to him knew no bounds. Adam Payne should be your new book boyfriend.
Watching the tiptoeing of a new relationship, especially one where abuse is an issue made for a tear jerker of a read. I found myself sucked into this book, gripping my kindle and needing to know how it was going to play out. There are scenes that are so terrifyingly realistic I had to close my eyes—like that would stop what was about to happen—but then I would open themand read on, gutted by what was happening.
Amazing visual writing by Mrs. Coopmans and fantastic supporting characters. I love when a story transports me so much so, that it feels more like I’m living it than reading it and this book did that for me. I also love having lots of characters to fall in love with, as long as they complement the story and this author did a great job with adding her supports in at just the right moments.
Beautiful story of survival, triumph and love. Giving it a 5 star rating is a no brainer and I highly recommend it to anyone.
