Kathy Taylor is the proud owner of Josephine, an ebony bundle of fur, energy, and mischievousness. Kathy has scraped the name of her mentor off of the doorway to her new Private Investigator office. Now if she could just detangle her playful kitten from her next client ...

The Lucky Cat is the second entry in the Salem Massachusetts Mini Mystery series. The start of this series is The Lucky Cat. These short stories are being written and loaded one a day from October 1 through October 31, 2014.

Lisa has lived in scenic Massachusetts since 1986, with only two brief forays out of state. One of Lisa’s ancestors was Ann Foster, who died during the Salem Witch Trials. Ann Foster was a grandmother by that time and sacrificed herself to protect her daughter and granddaughter. Ann had been born in England, came over in 1635, and was 75 by the time of the trials. Salem reached its dark depths during those trials from 1692-1693 - but since then has healed, blossomed, and shines. It now features the amazing Peabody Essex Museum, a plethora of gorgeous historic architecture, and a beautiful coastline. It's well worth a visit. If you can't go in person, take a virtual trip through Lisa's first-hand descriptions!

The charm

Although the plot was good it just left me cold. There just seemed to be something missing to make it great although we did learn a bit more about the main character.
When a flamboyant woman enters the agency, she has a hard time getting her new kitten to leave the client alone. Maybe it the dangling earrings or the swirling gypsy skirt. However the client states that she is being poisoned as she has had an upset tummy for days and she thinks that her ex-boyfriend is responsible. However after meeting him, she doubts it but on entering the woman's apartment and seeing her collection she knows what the answer is. Can she now be assured that her client will no longer suffer ill effects?

Josephine aka “Josie” is Kathy’s new addition—an impossibly adorable black kitten that Kathy obtained out on the farm during her last case.

The new client, Zoe Starlander, doesn’t want to die. And she’s convinced that someone is trying to poison her.

Zoe is ill and she doesn’t know why. It’s inexplicable. But she does have a certain suspect in mind.

It’s funny how everyone keeps telling Kathy that she looks just like Halle Berry, but in different ways.

Kathy’s familiarity, via her sister, with potions and spell-craft herbs helps her sniff out the true culprit.

Fun. Straightforward without being super basic.

A cute little world she is creating here in Salem, Massachusetts.
