Searching for Robert P: Episode 2

Rate this book
Still obsessed with Ruby's story, Ethan begins to take a long, hard look at his own life and friendships as he follows Ruby on her quest to find the perfect guy. Ruby and her two mates move into their own place, explore the trendy hotspots of Swinging London and end up at a bizarre party, meet their odd neighbours and their flashy landlord, then host a terrific but doomed party. Pam and Patsy win an old bet while Ruby meets her ultimate man, though he proves to be very elusive.
Searching for Robert P compares two generations. The generation who emerged fresh from the 60’s and its heady promises of peace and love into the changing landscape of the turbulent 70’s, and the tech savvy youth of the 21st century, a generation freed, yet alienated by the dominance of technology and social media.

Ethan gets more and more intrigued by Ruth's story which he found in the brown envelope on a campus. He becomes so involved in her tale that he follows all the routes she has taken through the city of London when she was a young innocent student there in the 1970s. Her life is madness and mayhem trying to survive the social life which she and her two friends created for themselves. In between parties she tries to attend classes.

London is alive and pulsing with the debauchery and craziness of the Seventies. Young people are on a role discovering their own mores and values, make mistakes, get hurt, learn lessons, but establish themselves in a world they chose for themselves.

Patsy and Pam,the two friends lodging with Ruth feel violated when the three friends catch their landlord red-handed in their room in dubious circumstances. The three girls decide to move into their own place. The adventure to become independent often becomes hilarious.

Ethan is slowly opening up more to the outside world, but cannot be without the brown envelope containing Ruth's memoir. He takes it everywhere with him.

I am still enjoying the book, but will write a complete review when the last part is published.
The serialized book is not working for me personally.

I love the way the book is written. However, the plot is too slow moving for my taste, but since part of the book is a memoir, with little movement in it, it is understandable. I hope part 3 will pick up speed and be even more intriguing. The subtle humor is refreshing. It really carries the story through.

The book is provided by the author for review. Thank you for the opportunity.
