When she inherits a brothel from the mother she barely knew, proper Philadelphia-reared Darcy Flynn turns the house into a stunning success with the help of handsome ghost Jonathan Stuart. Original.
For as long as she can remember, Joan Hohl has always wanted to be a writer. Her mother said Joan had her head in the clouds, always daydreaming. The only thing was, Joan's daydreams had plots!
She is a popular U.S.American writer of over 60 romance novels since 1980. She also signed her novels as Paula Roberts and Amii Lorin
This actually was a very sweet story and I enjoyed reading this book. Darcy could have been written as more self righteous, but she wasn't. The romance between her and the ghost Jonathan was very sweet. I would recommend this book.
This book was a bit much! I had a hard time with Betsy's abuse, probably because she was a child and although we didn't see this stuff happen to her, Wade's description of the state he found her in was sickening. I knew how the story was going to end about halfway through. But that was fine. I think it's awesome that Darcy decided to turn her mother's business into a school, I just wish Darcy didn't look down on the idea of the women as prostitutes. I don't think she looked down on the women themselves but she did not approve of prostitution. The ghost sex in this book was interesting to read and kind of hot! Even though it wasn't really sex since Jonathan was just a spirit and couldn't actually have sex with Darcy.
***TW for SA. There are mentions of past SA and descriptions of the results of physical abuse, when one of the characters saves a girl from a disgusting man.***
Aside from the mentions of the seedier parts of life during this time, this was a very sweet story, the romance was very well written and the way their souls connected (I guess you could say "ghost sex" lol) was very interesting.
I was craving a book to scratch the itch after a rewatch of The Ghost and Mrs Muir & this book did just that.
This is one of those books that stayed with me even now after all these years. I read this ten plus years ago and I enjoyed it so much I don't think I could ever forget it, the title was a different story, I forgot it until recently when a sympathetic soul reminded me what it was called and I am so happy.
This is the first book I read by this author. I like Western Romance & this was a good story, but Linda Lael Miller is my favorite author for this genre.
