Bryce Dorian is a rich playboy on the search for the father that abandoned him and left his mother for dead. He has spent countless hours and untold millions on his quest for revenge, but he never expected that his misguided journey would take such a dangerous turn.
Marcie Gallagher is an over-worked and under-paid waitress working at a dead-end job until one terrible day. In the span of a few hours, Marcie loses her job, her boyfriend and her home, leaving her alone and on the streets to fend for herself.
When Bryce finds himself on the wrong end of a mugging, Marcie is there to jump to his rescue. They both feel a strange connection to one another, but each has reservations about pursuing anything. They can only fight their feelings for so long, but with death threats, a secret baby, and a jealous ex-boyfriend thrown into the mix, does their love have any hope?
I wasn't a big fan of this book. I caught myself rolling my eyes in parts of the story. It is also written in first person. The written style is just not at the top of my favorites list. Just because I didn't like it, does not mean, that you won't read, and be in love. Everyone will not like the same book. The plot is not bad, just not my kind of book.
Oh, I totally like billionaire romances but this one was a bit boring.
There are time lapses in between (not really huge ones but like 'a month later' and stuff) and that was so annyoing because sometimes the reasons for them not talking were just beyond stupid. Especially when Marcie doesn't talk to Bryce because she is depressed after seeing her Nana (who has alzheimers) lashing out. Ahm, don't get me wrong, sweetheart, but you know that she is ill and then you don't talk to anyone for a month? You don't leave your room for a freaking month? And to top it all, you're pregnant and you don't get any exercise? Ahm, wow. Responsible.
I think the writing style was okay and the plot was too but it didn't really get to me. The whole story wasn't just what I had been envisioning. But hey, doesn't mean it's not a good billionaire romance book :D Cause in a way it is, despite the fact that these two seriously have some communication issues :D
This book was different and I liked that the wealthy man was taken by the poor girl at first sight and he went after her right away. That was refreshing and a twist I didn't expect. I liked that there weren't to many raunchy sex scenes. I wish there were more tender moments between them and a little more talk about the baby not being his but it was a good story and I will buy more books from this author.
