Practical, concise, and reasonably priced, The Essentials of Technical Communication , Third Edition, gives students the tools they need to get their message across in today's workplace.
I read this book for a technical writing and communication class. I found it to be easy to understand, with many real life examples of documents. This will be a great resource for any future writing.
The cover and the opening lines of this book bring a refreshing, realistic approach to technical communication that other texts fail to recognize: there is a difference between being an effective communicator and taking it all too seriously.
That's not to say that the book does not espouse professionalism in its practitioners. Written in an approachable style and organized around core principles and document types, this is an excellent resource for professionals and students alike, encouraging good practices and habits in technical communicators.
And the price, in comparison to similar texts, is really unbeatable, too!
Excellent. I will definitely use this as a text when I teach tech writing. Doesn't include any new media advice, though that might prevent it from being dated within 6 months.
Everything you want to know about technical/professional writing with examples. While it's an easy read it's not necessarily a fun read. The text isn't engaging, but the information is solid
