When a senator’s daughter is targeted by a killer, her bodyguard will stay close day and night to protect her in this uplifting romantic suspense novel.Despite the threats against her life, Danielle Barclay thinks having a bodyguard looking after her around the clock is unnecessary. Or at least that’s what she tells herself before meeting Jake Rabb. A former Delta Force soldier, Jake is used to rope-lining from helicopters into enemy territory—not following around a senator’s daughter. The lovely deputy district attorney is as strong-willed as she is brave, especially when the escalating danger assures Jake that her stalker means business. As the attacks become personal, Danielle finally puts her trust—and her feelings—on the line with her defender. But when the stalker gets closer than anyone could have imagined, Jake and Danielle will need all their courage and faith to survive.

Meh. Insta love and I guessed the antagonist right away. Wish there was more chemistry and build up. Incredibly predictable.

Who would have guessed Jake blames himself for something that wasn’t his fault and he doesn’t feel worthy of her 🙄 I mean there’s only one recipe for men in romantic suspense, and clearly, the author decided to go all the way with the tropes in poor Jakey Boy.

Perfect blend of romance and suspense
Long known for her romances, Jane M. Choate’s debut in the inspirational romantic suspense genre proves how versatile this talented author is. Keeping Watch gives readers the perfect mix of sweet romance and spine-tingling suspense in this story of an ex-Delta Force soldier hired to protect an independent Deputy District Attorney. Although the attraction is undeniable, both Jake and Dani have painful pasts that need to be overcome before they can admit to their love. And then there’s the stalker … If you enjoy stories of love and justice, this is one you won’t want to miss.

An intense plot kept me riveted. I read Keeping Watch in one sitting. There just wasn't a good place to stop. Every time I thought the author gave me some breathing room...well, she didn't. Not that I'm complaining! If the suspense didn't have me on tenterhooks, the romance did. Loved the way Choate developed Jack and Dani's romance. From a stuttering start to a soul stirring conclusion. And there's a wonderful inspirational thread that added an extra dimension to the read.

Amazing story of meeting life's challenges.

Actually I read the second book of this series first. So, of course, I had to read the first one. I do hope there is a third one, about the sister.
