This is another of those books that I can see people either really loving or not understanding.
To be 100% honest I would give it somewhere around 3.6 or 3.7 stars. I was really excited about what I was reading at the beginning, but it leveled out for me. I got an advance copy from NetGalley for my honest review.
I did enjoy it and can relate to it, but while very good, I didn't find enough NEW material to rate it a full 4 stars.
The author reminds us that sometimes you only get what you want when you STOP NEEDING it so desperately.
She explains that many of us, and I am very guilty, fill up our lives with things that are never going to fill the void and true need our souls are calling out for. One should never fill space with a LACK consciousness.
She tells us to define CLUTTER for ourselves on a deeper, personal level. I like her terms for finding your center of simplicity. Clutter is anything that impedes energy flow. Energy flow is essential to manifest yourlife desires.
Desire is a complicated concept. It is tied to motivation but different motivations can be used to work towards a common desire.
As I was reading I was visualizing clearing the space in the same way that a sculpture removes excess material that hides the beautiful defined object inside. I took copious amounts of notes as I read, far too many to share all the thoughts here. For that reason, I DO encourage you to pick up a copy of this book and read it at your own pace.
There are wonderful concepts and actual action steps included to help you think differently about your space, your THINGS, your needs and even your time.
Alexandra Chauran uses a three step system of Simplify, Harmonize and Reflect, but this is an on-going system, not a done once and never again process. The goal is more than LESS stuff (physically, mentally) and a calmer, happier spiritual existance. Life is a journey and constantly changes until you pass onto those changes we can't yet fully explain. As you read and take action you will be reevaluating your personal values and priorities, your needs and desires.
There are specific steps to take to get you started. the physical steps are the easiest.
As stated above, it is a three step process, (lather rinse, repeat.)
To continue, you have to think about and take action on your physical being, your health, and your mind.
You need to commit to a schedule or future actions.
I found valuable content regarding cleaning up your thoughts and words before you speak or share.
There is much talk about energy, including auras, how to cleanse or refresh your energy. Some may not believe in it, and if you do not believe you will not see as dramatic effects, but if you can be open minded and give some of the techniques a try, you may be surprised by benefits received.
The book includes quotes from a well known figure, Peace Pilgrim, she called herself, and gives information on other valuable works to read after you have finished.
