I got this read from the library and with it along came the spirit of a sweet mature woman who is attached to the book.

Although I enjoyed her energy, it’s too bad I didn’t feel the same about the book.
There is a lot of helpful and basic information but there was an overkill of personal stories about the author.

Dugan keeps it simple where others would be vague and over the top. She explains different abilities to dispel any confusion, and provides her experience as examples of psychic abilities.
Even though Dugan is a strong psychic with many different experiences, she does not belittle her readers or assume superiority (as many psychic authors would do), which makes her book easy and enjoyable to read. There were only a few times where I felt the narration was slightly big-headed. However, I wish she had explained that she doesn't predict absolutely everything that's going to happen or that has happened; that would be impossible and really annoying to live with.

The author wrote an excellent book discussing the different types of psychic attributes found in humans. Written in an easy to read format, she logically separated topics for ease of understanding. I especially appreciated her inclusion of information concerning SLIders, the Street Lamp Interference Data Exchange Receiver, a type of psychic experience. That was a new topic for me to learn about. Definitely a good read.

I really like the detail that the author goes to break down the process so that the reader can take time to identify their spiritual progression and practice. The author additionally gives daily exercises to help discern which abilities are the most innately strong so that we can work more progressively to strengthen that muscle.
This is a must-read in the spiritual community and is a great book for those just starting and need a solid foundation.

An easy read, with applicable advice, "homework", anecdotes, and no fluffy quizzes that you can skew to your desires instead of your true self.

When I saw this on NetGalley a few months ago, I had to request it. I really enjoyed several of Ellen’s other books and I had high expectations for this one. Unfortunately, I was a bit let down after reading it. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t quite as thorough as I expected, I suppose. The description promises “a vast array of information…” but I wasn’t wowed by it.

Something about the writing felt a little rushed. I would be reading a chapter and find myself thinking “Ah, now we’re getting somewhere!” only to realize I was at the end already. I also think a lot of things mentioned in this one were covered in one (or possibly more than one, I’m not sure) of her earlier books. I kept feeling like I had read some of this before, and not in a deja vu kind of way. In defense of the book, I haven’t actually re-read the others to double check, so I could be wrong.

So, this book wasn’t as detailed as I expected, but I did find some parts useful, like discussing the difference between mediums and other psychic abilities, psychic attack, and ideas for working out a premonition. If you’re curious or trying to figure out what innate abilities you might have, this might be a good book to pick up. You won’t find any “What kind of psychic are you?” type quizzes, but you will find definitions of each ability discussed, as well as anecdotes to help you figure things out.

The writing style is typical Ellen: humorous and conversational. That’s probably one of the things that most attracted me to her books when I first discovered them. At the end, there’s a bibliography, glossary, and index, which are all very useful in books like this (not all authors include them).

Overall, I liked the book and I’m glad that I read it. I just wish I had been able to learn a bit more from it. I did find some exercises in it useful, though, and I intend to use them in the future.

*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley*

I found this book TREMENDOUSLY helpful, really encouraging and even fun and silly. Basically it hit all the markers of what a great metaphysical book should be. I'm a huge fan of Ellen's Book and this was no exception, even though it was totally different than her other things I've read. If you're psychic, or think you might be, this book will help clear up exactly what it is you're feeling and going through, and I highly recommend the exercises she lays out to discover where your own intuition lies.

This was an informative book. Ellen explains her views on everything psychic clearly so that anyone can understand. I'd say this is more the the beginner or someone curious about how this all works. Definitely a book I'd recommend.

If you think you are psychic, this book is a guide to developing your skills. It has explanations, history and exercises. The part I found most fascinating was about Tarot cards. I will really have to get a deck and work with them. It sounds like fun!
Others may find other parts more interesting.

This book is very empowering and does a good job of letting the reader know that psychic abilities are as much about practice as they are a natural part of us.
