A Case for Calamity

Rate this book
For Jane Whitmore, agreeing to switch identities with her best friend seems like innocent fun, but spending a romantic night in Paris with a man who doesn't know her real name turns out to be a lark gone bad. When their one night of passion proves to have lasting results, tracking down Gabe Sutton and telling him he’s about to be the father of her child is just another calamity Jane would rather avoid.

After years of avoiding long-term romantic entanglements, Gabe has found a woman he might just be able to build a life with, only to have her disappear. When he finally finds her, his belief in happily-ever-after staggers under the weight of deception, and looming fatherhood leaves him with two choices: fight her for custody of his future child or cling to the promise of true love.

Hi there. My name is Mackenzie Crowne.

I'm a a wife, mother and really young grandmother. Together with my high school sweet heart husband, a neurotic Pomeranian and a blind cat, I call Phoenix home because the southwest feeds my soul. My love of the romance genre has been a lifelong affair, both as a reader and a writer. A bout with breast cancer sharpened my resolve to see my stories shared with others. Today I'm a seven-year survivor living the dream.

Raised on the concept that a stranger is just one conversation away from being a friend, I love meeting new people. My friends call me Mac. I hope you will too.

This is a super sweet and quick read. You can't go wrong with instant attraction-oh and a hero that is a little bit cowboy, a little bit business, and a whole lot of sexy.

The heroine is strong and out to prove she can make it on her own. I love that she doesn't fall into the routine of so many books out there - stay with Mr. Tall, Dark, and Rich. (Okay, so I would have stayed.)

You can't go wrong with a headstrong heroine and a love struck hero. The ending is satisfying and will leave you smiling. You might still be craving a little bit of Calamity Jane and her sexy cowboy though.

What a fun read!!! Our main female character is Jane who
is better known as Calamity Jane. Why…..because of all the
mishaps that seem to occur around her.
Jane’s best friend talks Jane into pretending to be her for a
dinner date. Expecting just a quick evening in Paris turns into
a glorious one night stand with an awesome man. When Jane
leaves his hotel room she never plans on seeing him again.
Wrong!!! Things happen that bring them face to face revealing
Jane’s true identity. What happens next…..you need to read
this quick, fun novella to discover!! Enjoy.
Thanks to the author for the eBook. My opinion is my own.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the author's crisp and entertaining style of writing. I found Calamity Jane Whitmore to be bright and hardworking, with a personality that is easy to love and root for. Gabe Sutton sounds delicious but he's a man with more than great looks going for him. He's Jane's perfect match. After the way they met and the conflict it stirred, I wasn't sure they'd be able to sort things out to get that happily-ever-after. Ms. Crowne did a great job on this story and I can't wait to read more of her work.

Do not believe the blurbs and promos for this book--they fall far short of doing it justice.

This was the first Mackenzie Crowne book that I've read but it will most definitely not be my last.

I sat down to read a few pages and literally could not put my e-reader down until I'd finished the entire story. A short read at only 72 pages, the flow of the story will leave you reeling and wishing there were many more.

Mackenzie Crowne has woven a tale that will make you laugh, cry, cheer and groan as you follow the story of Jane and Gabe's wild, mixed-up love story.

An innocent identity switch leads to a night of passion and unexpected feelings and much more than Jane--known to friends and family as Calamity Jane--could ever have imagined. Not that Gabe, gorgeous cowboy businessman, was any better prepared for what follows.

Complications, misunderstandings and even good intentions erect obstacles that would lead many to give up.

But we all know love conquers all. Right?

Pick up a copy of A Case for Calamity and find out for yourself....

If you are looking for a feel good classic romance a with that Sweet HEA, a little bit of sass and a whole lot of fun then you need to stop what you are doing and one-click on this little number here.

Mackenzie Crowne did a great job making Jane and Gabe's story a fun ride. It is a novella so it isn't a long book, but it is a fun read and definitely worth your time :)

Jane isn't called Calamity Jane for nothing...Pretending to be her best friend and taking her place at a meeting with Gabe may not have been thought all the way through, and what happens next is something that could only happen to Calamity Jane.

Jane who has been dubbed CJ (Calamity Jane) by her family, lives up to her name. While trying to help a friend, she takes Shae's spot at a date set up with the handsome Gabe Sutton. Little did she know how her life would change after just one night. These characters are fun loving, and you find yourself rooting for a happy ever after for them. I would recommend this story to anyone looking for a sweet fast read.
This book was provided to me by the author for an honest review.

The storyline had so much potential, that this being more of a novella than a book, did not do the plot justice. Both the main characters were likeable and even though they only shared one night of passion, you knew they had chemistry.
I would have loved to seen that chemistry explored.
Jane was known as Calamity Jane, even though, there were a few scenes relating to how she got that name, I would have liked more.
Gabe sounded like the type of man, women dream about- cowboy handsome, built, kind,well-off, from a good family, and most important, a man that took his responsibilities seriously. Plus, he was ready for commitment.
I rate this book 4, even though a hundred more pages or so, this could have been a 4.5!

This is fun quick read. Jane switches spots with her best friend for a meeting that will change her life forever. She decides to have a fling with Gabe because hey she will never see him again. One problem she gets a little going away gift that will arrive in 9 months. She now has to figure out how to break the news of course her nickname Calamity Jane has it's reasons when everything doesn't go has planned. Enjoy the journey of Gabe and Jane. The ending is perfect and it leaves you with a smile on your face.

A Case for Calamity had me from the first page! I fell in love with Gabe and Jane and couldn't wait for them to fall in love with each other. They made me laugh, squirm at times, and root for them and their happily-ever-after right to the end. This is an all-around fun and sexy read - wait until you meet Gabe! Can't wait for Mackenzie Crowne's next one!

A fun, fast-paced read, it didn't take me long to get drawn into Gabe and Jane's electrifying chemistry. Jane's constant "calamities" had me giggling, and Gabe's brooding facade led to a deeper, sensitive side that made me swoon. To top it off, Jane's friend Shae added to the mischief, and I would LOVE to read a book about Shae (hint, hint!) I was surprised to see the whole book took place during a two month period...was anxiously awaiting to see what they ended up having, names, etc. Loved the author's writing style and humor, would definitely recommend to anyone who loves contemporary romance.

This was a short story and, in my opinion, there wasn't a whole lot to it. I do understand when the story is short there isn't a lot of time to have an indepth knowledge of the characters. It did have a sweet ending but I could have used more.

A good Book.

A loved the story at first but the ending just disappointed me somehow. I was expecting the relationship between Jane and Gabe to develop more but it never happened.
The writing style and the characters were what what got me through to the finish.
Loved how it started the passion and the relationship that started developing between them, after a certain point the development was not showed. The relationship somehow jumped from one point to another would have loved to see the steps towards that.

However, i would recommend it to anyone who loves the idea of a cowboy in the city. :D

A short fun read about a smart but clumsy New Yorker who is posing as her best friend while in Paris when she meets the man of her dreams. There's romance, humor, friendship, and some family drama rolled into a short story that reads like a longer book. Very enjoyable.

This was a lovely, light read, one that I would love to have been a full novel. Very sweet, all wrapped up nicely in Christmas gift wrap.
