Ari Spiegel is a joke!!!!!!

I was hoping to see surreal pictures but instead I saw pictures of random people. Ari Spiegel's commentary is a complete joke. He believes the horrors of the Holocaust never happened. Please do not waste your time with this obnoxious excuse for lost photos. He does not have the means to distinguish who are in the photos or where many of them were taken. Also, no true author would quote Wikipedia. I need to take a shower to wash myself of the disgusting thoughts of this current NAZI.

Revisionist history

The author is trying to rewrite history by showing select photos and then making up descriptions of what he wants the photos to show. Anyone can take a few photos and selectively show only the narrow viewpoint of his story.

Dangerous propaganda

This is an example of someone trying and failing to make the case for the holocaust never happening. I am neither Jewish nor German, married to an American who is descended from german stock but who's ancestors immigrated to America in the 1840's. I was raised in the American south, the daughter of low middle class parents who instilled in me an acute sense of justice, a history major in college, a child of the 60's who was born in 1956. I tell you that so you know I don't have an axe to grind. I was highly offended by this writer's assertion that all of these pictures were of people, not abused, not required to wear the yellow star, but are simply going on a "picnic", the writer's words, not mine. The pictures ARE sad, but not in the way the writer intended, because WE know the truth. These people, especially the young and innocent, and the old and not very useful, are not on there way to "work in a factory with excellent daycare facilities", or "a picnic outside the gates", but on their way to death! Shame on the writer for trying to excuse the German SS men as simple bystanders "without weapons but a few scattered rifles and pistols". It was very necessary to maintain calm in order to send the sheep to the slaughter. Shame, shame Herr Spiegel for trying to hide the truth of entire families and generations who simply vanished from the face of the earth, never to be seen again. "I do not know for sure what happened to them" is your repeated claim. The rest of the world knows!!!!!!! The sadness that MOST readers feel is the knowledge that these innocent people were most likely murdered within hours of these photos were taken. For shame, Herr Speigel, for shame!!!

The Holocaust Lost Photos by Ari Spiegel I received a free kindle copy of The Holocaust Lost Photos by Ari Spiegel in an Amazon promotion in exchange for a fair review.I gave this book one star. I'm not sure where these photographs originated but the interpretations were questionable. What the author interpreted as 'smiles' looked like grimaces to me. As far as the 'facts' quoted I was even more confused."The Holocaust - Lost Photos was a collection of 158 pictures taken by an unknown SS officer during the actual period of the camp's use. Therefore the pictures themselves are clearly in the public domain, as are all the wartime films."Strange as it may seem, every other such camp image seen by you or any member of the general public, has been from a Hollywood set, a reenactment from somebody's story, or has been an outright fabrication."I'm uncertain the intent of this author but it seems he is out of touch with history & that he is a Holocaust denier.I personally knew a man who lost his parents & four siblings in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. He escaped as a young teenager from Hungary to Canada. He refused to discuss the events that led to his immigration to the United States. I don't think he would have reacted well to this book. I can't imagine why one would purchase this book.Link to purchase: http://www.amazon.com/Holocaust-Lost-...

Well I read the reviews for this book and still though that I would give it, and the author a chance. The book is basically a poor version of someone denying the Holocaust ever happened and they have used the Nazi propaganda photos that were in circulation at the time to justify their argument. I started reading the book with an open mind I have read about Holocaust deniers before but this is the first book I have read that was written by one. Its poorly put together, some of the photos are duplicated and full of the authors opinions about what the photos mean with no evidence, not very good at all.

Holocaust denial ??

NOT sure what to make of this book. It seems that it was written by a Holocaust Denier or is it written to show how wrong it is to deny the horror of the Holocaust. I don't know. I'm giving it 5 stars purely for the fact that it has made me think that Holocaust denial can really be portrayed.
If you read this book, I hope that you, as I do, remember the victims of this terrible episode in the history of the world.

Appalling.

An ill - considered; and ultimately unsuccessful attempt at Holocaust Denial, conveyed via the repeated use of a selection images accompanied by unsubstantiated generalisations with no historical foundation.
