Leo and Ethan escape with the alien flightsuit that crashed in the Appalachian Mountains. They are pursued by government agents and by the flightsuit's original pilot, now hiding in the mind of the agent who let them escape.
Leo discovers the flightsuit's most powerful weapon is the Artificial Intelligence, which he calls "Brother". Brother teaches Leo to use the flightsuit, introduces him to the other "Known" species and compiles an archive of Earth history for delivery to the Explorer home world.
Leo wants to take the flightsuit into space, but he's caught between Brother and Ethan, who doesn't trust the alien AI.
As the government closes in, Ethan returns to Bumpas Cove, hoping to extract Leo's mother from the NSA's trap. In the flightsuit, Leo travels across country to Area 51, where the flightpack that will enable a return to space is hidden. He must fight his way to the flightpack and survive overwhelming odds in an epic battle inside the most secret place on Earth.

Sometimes, a girl needs a dose of plain, wholesome goodness. Good intentions. Good outcomes. Good people. Ethan, Leo, Brother, Hack, Melanie, Pruitt and Walker deliver. Leo and Ethan go their separate ways - Ethan to save Melanie and Leo to retrieve the flight pack. We learn a lot more about Brother and the bad guy gets it. This is a fun and satisfying read. I hope Deaderick writes more stories.

Wow! What an exciting story.
Two books I could not put down, tell the story of Leo, a fatherless fourteen year old, and Ethan, an old hermit living in the deserted coal country of Tennessee who befriends him. After finding an alien flight suit, the two set out on a journey that will put both their lives in danger and change the world forever.

Brilliant and original!
This is a refreshing and very well written take on the subject of time travel, aliens, first contact, etc. The plot is great, the twists are super, the characters are very well developed, the action is great fun, and I hope to see more of this author.

Good read for the YA crowd I am not a YA so I thought it was quaint.

Really enjoyed this story.

This book suffered from the same problems as the first one, four pages to say things that would have been better suited for one paragraph. A lot of unnecessary information, or info given in a overly verbose or awkward manner. The Author really needs to look up the concept of Chekhov's Gun, because Wow, so much unnecessary stuff. I spent a lot of the book skimming, or even skipping large sections of text that added nothing to the overall story.
Also, there was a dash of random religiosity that made me slightly uncomfortable and kinda squicky.
Really I think this book and the previous would have been greatly serviced by a ruthless editor, and everything probably could have been condensed into one novel at half the size with none of the story or plot sacrificed.
