Super cautious girl says fuck it & rolls out the red carpet for her stalker 🖤 BREEDING kink on steroids!!
“Do you have any idea how warped and fucked-up this is?”
Eloise has a trauma filled past but little does she know a psycho man has been ’protecting’ her from the shadows. Protecting is used very loosely because this man is a massive liability & a walking rabid dog! ⚠️ After over a DECADE of STALKING he finally touches her and all hell breaks loose.
Absolutely crazy plot that was entirely build around the breeding kink. I’M NOT COMPLAINING! I did get desensitized by the end because you could really expect Ren to stop at nothing to protect Eloise. For an unhinged fantasy like this it was the perfect length.
UNHINGED boyfriend/stalker traits: 🖤 kills for her 🖤 sketches his fantasies & pastes them on his walls 🖤 birth control tampering 🖤 sleeps INSIDE her! 🖤 ties her to the bed while confessing all his misdeeds
This was smutty through & through and while quite DARK ROMANCE the emphasis was on the (albeit unhinged) romance! 🖤🩸 There was no non-con as our girl Eloise was very much on board…even if she didn’t have all the facts. Did it make sense…no and I’m questioning both of their sanities!
psycho mmc virgin fmc stalking knife play plugging breeding kink pregnancy (not just in the epilogue) tw: past abuse/trauma no third act breakup! HEA
In general, the book wasn’t bad but there were some things that just didn’t hit the mark.
ages are never mentioned and i just couldn’t figure out how old they were/ what stage of life they were in. it was frustrating.
i love this authors books but they REALLYYY dropped the ball with the MMC.
i also think the plot twist was so unnecessary? out of left field? also kinda rinse and repeat with this author. it really feels like i read another version of a book they already had, or like a combo of 2 books. it’s such a shame cuz i LOVE the stalker trope and was so excited for it, but again, just didn’t hit the mark.
i’m just sad tbh. i think my standards for this author are too high. such a let down.
some spoilers ahead!
the FMC is a virgin but the MMC isn’t, even though he’s been obsessed with her since they were kids. yea no. that’s just BS. it doesn’t matter how angry he was while fucking another woman (which was the opening to the book btw) if you’re really that into the FMC to the point of stalking and obsessing over her for YEARS, then you shouldn’t even stomach the idea of another woman talking you. so fucking nasty 🤮🤢 and such a double standard.
he’s so obsessed with her he even let her dad abuse her for YEARS…. i get that when he was a kid he might not have been able to do anything about it but what about when he was older? or could he not have told his uncle? this definitely did not need to last until she went to college. there was absolutely a way out of the situation, so again, i call BS.
i honestly don’t even get why he was so adamant that they could never be together? he wasn’t even that bad. he fought in underground rings and the only people he killed were people who assaulted her. you would think he was some psychopath with how he spoke about his dArKneSS.
the stalking was also on the more wholesome side, which is odd considering the content warning said this would be dark but it honestly wasn’t even that bad i think? or maybe ive just read so many twisted stalkers that my bar is too high.
he just watched her. never broke into her place or stole something of hers, never threatened dates to back off or control any aspect of her life. she lived her life and he was just…. there. very mild stalking, it also didn’t really last long enough in the book that i would even flag it as a stalker romance, more of a OTT protective MMC than anything else.
Bigger spoiler ahead! (although i think you kinda see it coming)
i also HATE that the bff turned out to be the bad guy, haven’t we don’t this before? the story (as sad as it was) was also super random and unnecessary. can’t a girl just have a friend?
Eloise Meadows has endured abuse throughout her life. Yet she’s always had a silent guardian. When she puts herself in harm’s way and Ren Ashcroft is forced to come face-to-face with her, he’s blindsided by the way she embraces, instead of fears, him.
The only reason it’s not a full five stars is because I was disappointed with Ren’s opening scene. I was able to move on in the scheme of things. However, my personal opinion is that it was unnecessary for the storyline - its inclusion didn’t add anything, just as its omission wouldn’t have taken anything away.
That said, I loved everything else about Ren. He was OTT, relentless, unrepentant, protective, and obsessed in the best of ways! We all know I love breeding, but that I’m not a fan of pregnancy. I knew pregnancy was part of the storyline and I worried it would be a turn off for me. However, there was enough going on otherwise - did I mention the suspense? - that it was a non-issue. Even still, Ren was so damn-near perfect that I think I would’ve gotten over it anyway!

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Trope: st@lker, bc tampering Angst: 😱😱😱 Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
If you're looking for something hot and completely over the top, this may be the book for you! Our hero is a definitely obsessed and will do anything to get and keep his girl. 🔥🔥🔥
In Her Shadow was…ok. I’d like to start off with saying fictional heroes that are obsessed with their woman don’t go screw other women. Ever. 🔪🔪
So that was strike 1 for me.
Strike 2 was this was just a bit too long. A lot of nothing happened.
Luckily there wasn’t a strike 3 for me.
In Her Shadows was filthy in all the ways I adore but I’m not sure I connected with either MC so my attachment to them and their story left me kind of dragging myself through. I’m not sure why exactly I didn’t vibe with their romance because I love a stalker vibe but by the end I didn’t care all that much how they got to their HEA.
That being said, if you like stalker romances with morally gray MMCs and heroines that are a little void of independent thought at times then this might be your book. Honestly, I stayed for the smut🤷🏻♀️.
DNF @ 24%. Both characters aren’t appealing whatsoever. I’m sure answers will come out but so far theres a MMC who is obsessed with the FMC but still f*cks other women (1st or 2nd scene is exactly that)…and the FMC is traumatised and shy BUT invites her stalker inside and loses her V card after like 20 mins 🤷♀️
DNF at 73%. I liked it but lost interest, the dirty talk and the smut is good but not good enough for me to keep reading. The backstory reveal wasn’t hitting, and I felt like I needed more unpredictability. I just felt like the hero and heroine were going to be together. No real obstacles in their way.
Stalker V FMC Br33ding Pregnancy throughout Love after trauma
REN ASHCROFT 🥵 he is OTT possessive , and refuses to allow anyone to harm his sweet Eloise …their paths cross initially year prior due to some underlying trauma she is left alone in the world .. once he stops hiding in the shadows he becomes her entire world … their mutual obsession is 🥵 When someone close to them deceives them and threatens to bring harm all of the dark secrets and deceptions come to the forefront !
Lilah Raine hit another book out of the ballpark ! Every single thing she writes is 10/10 in my 📖
Okay, so the book starts with the MMC giving a whore a good seeing too 😬😬
Slight spoiler? Nah! You need to know as it's literally the first page. This gave me the urge to not want to finish, as it's hard to believe someone who's been so obsessed with a girl for like, forever! Would screw around with whores, surely the thought of being with other women would make him as limp as a noodle? 🍜 Obviously not.
Now, knowing this I still powered through, as I am a massive Lilah Raine fan and I am so pleased that I did.
I am an absolute sucker for breeding, pregnancy throughout book and the good lady Raine did not disappoint me.
We have innocent Eloise (FMC) and Ren (MMC) stalker and OTT possessive alpha.
Ren is absolutely obsessed with Eloise and has stalked her for many years. Now this isn't the average kinda stalking. He doesn't actually do anything "stalkery" to the FMC, like steal her clothes, hide under her bed or jizz in her perfume or shampoo. He mainly watches and only steps in when she needs helps or someone pisses him off. They only meet when he has to help Eloise one time and now cue her being obsessed with him 😅 Things move fast, real fast. But I enjoy a good speedy insta love book, so that didn't bother me. Then we have the usual sexy bits, drama and a good ol'plot twist. I won't say any more 🤫
The book had a bit of everything, you can expect..
💕 HEA 😏 Alpha obsessed with breeding 🤰🏻Pregnancy (not just in the epilogue) 💊 Birth Control Tampering ⬇️ He Falls First And Hard 🩸Blood/Knife play 😍 Overprotective Hero 🪢 Plot Twists 🥵 Dirty Talking Hero 😃 Praise K!nk ✍🏻 Sexy/slightly messed up art work by MMC.
In all it was a great read and though it nearly lost me at the beginning (and lost a star in my review ⭐) it kept me interested all the way troughout the book.
Another hit for this author. I love a good stalker trope, throw in a deliciously filthy MMC and the breeding trope with a good plot twist and I'm in. Ren for all his faults, and there were many, I absolutely loved him, he's beyond obsessed with Eloise and has been for some time, his stalker tendencies know no bounds. I loved that Eloise saw his crazy and called him out on it. I love a book that draws you in and holds you there, once I picked his up, I couldn't put it down.
I know these tropes aren't for everyone but if you love them like me, definitely pick this up.
Ren has got to be one of the most dedicated stalkers to ever have stalked. He’s been stalking her since they have been kids. Innocently(ish) at first. But one night when Eloise decided to drink too much tequila by herself and take a little walk in a dark alleyway lead to their “meet cute”.
Overall I’d give this more of a 3.5 star bc there were some things I didn’t like, or truly made no sense and some things didn’t need to be added because they added nothing to the story or plot.
Examples:
• The beginning of the first chapter in general. Added nothing beneficial, just pissed me off. Sure it added the shock value but it cheapened Ren’s level of obsession with Eloise.
• Eloise was super skittish, careful, and trying to overcome some childhood trauma / PTSD but then was lowkey dumb and out of character to go traipsing down the street at night by herself drunk and passing out in the alleyway.. Like what?!
• Giving your V-card to a dude who you only met once the night before when you woke up from the above example and he was lurking in the corner in your bedroom. Totes normal, NBD.
• Rens backstory. It seemed like in order for him to become desirable and not a homeless guy, the author threw in his financials as a last minute thing.
I didn’t really connect with Eloise at all. There was just something about her character that I didn’t vibe with, but Ren’s character (for me) made it all worth it. There were a couple secondary characters but for the most part Ren snd Eloise primarily hung out with each other once they connected.
The spice was hawtttt. Like spicy spice and the office scene has to be my favorite.
There is: • insta lust/love - FAST burn!!! • birth control tampering resulting in pregnancy (which y’all should have expected considering the header being stalker breeding romance) • stalking (again header should have clued you in) • virgin FMC • no cheating, but there is a scene with the MMC is with another woman at the very beginning. Which did piss me off at first bc no. He’s needs to be totally dedicated to the FMC but I got over it fairly quickly. If you ask me, it should have been left out as it added nothing to the story but what do I know. • knife/blood play • praise & degradation • touch her and die MMC • seriously OTT obsessed MMC • childhood SA mentioned but not explicit
Uh oh. This book is like the guideline of how not to fall for your stalker. And our girl broke every single rule in it.
This is a story of a girl with a stalker. The girl went through some horrible things in her past (kinda surprise by how dark it was, the book touched it very lightly imo, but damn it was dark). And our stalker hero was there every step of the way. Then, one day, our girl decided she didn't want to be stalked anymore and confronted our stalker. Hence began the story.
As always with Lilah Raine, our male leads will always be giant red flags. Expect birth control tampering and breeding kink. Always It came with the territory with this author. Hence, some people might want to stay away from this one... And her other works actually. Me? I'm in my zone here. Judgement free zone.
It's hard to say out loud what about these books that made me obsessed. Is it the kink? Is it the red flag men? Is it the drama? Heaven knows I can't deal with too much drama but this is the kind of drama I can deal with. The OTT-ness is just *chef's kiss*. This is where I kiss my feminist ass goodbye.
Now this is coming to audio but still a Big Nope! (Not for me even though the narrators are great!)
This could have been so good but got botched in the early stages!
Why would you start a book about a so called “obsessed stalker”- with over 3 pages long and detailed smex scene with OW - so detailed that you even get descriptions of the way he makes OW take plan B (at least he wraps up his junk!) and how she doesn’t compare to FMC in any ways (wow so special this is the exact juxtaposition we needed for the FMC to be special! 😵💫) So you know, because his hands are not enough to sate his inner monster, a slew of OW are perfectly justified! 🤢 FMC is of course a Virginia🤦🏻♀️ - but who cares about where this story is going, when the only thing playing in your mind are those scenes with OW (yes there are several OW!🤦🏻♀️

What I love about Lilah Raine’s books is that I know I will get a full-length romance story with some of my favorite tropes that typically are found in novellas. Br33ding, birth control tampering, and pregnancy, not just in the epilogue, are what fans of these tropes will get along with, and a solid plot. Yes, there is a plot!
Her Shadow is full of super steamy scenes that start up quickly. Ren’s behavior towards Elosie is questionable, but his heart is in the right place—I’m rationalizing because it’s fiction, and I know how to differentiate.
Eloise’s story can be sensitive to some, but it explains why Ren is how he is with her. The story took a few unexpected dark turns that I didn’t see coming, and I liked that unpredictability, especially what Ren had been up to all these years, and Eloise’s father. In Her Shadows was another win!
Stalker romance but where the stalker has a conscience and actually loves the girl, wants the best for her (even tho he stumbles on that a bit) MFC was an equal match, she’s not one to run away from him but rather embraces his crazy
The plot twist was stupid in my opinion, all that hype for basically nothing. How could you not recognise your best friend of soooo many years being kinda crazy, i knew the moment she started involving herself a bit too much in MFC’s life.
The birth scene was crazy in a way that i was Laughing my ass off😂 Pain with pleasure? That too in a freaking dentist’s office🤦🏻♀️
This book will absolutely be a top read of 2025 for me!!! I LOVED EVERYTHING 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 and I will not be taking any criticism at this time 😆 I loved Ren and Eloise so much!!! This is definitely a trust the process book in the beginning BUT you will not be disappointed!! The twists and turns 😱😱 Just when you thought you knew everything about the characters…. You don’t!!! If you love a good stalker romance that’s done right… this is it ♥️
Dark Romance OTT Obsessive, Possessive, Protective MMC Stalker MMC Breeding Kink Virgin FMC Don’t see the 2 biggest twists!
I liked Eloise’a sweet and sheltered personality but how she has a darker side of wants and desires and being able to explore and embrace them in safety with Ren while he is so down bad and obsessed and wants only for her to be happy made this so good. Ren was a big surprise! Not his OTT obsession or how he was when he was with Eloise but all the other parts of him, some of it made sense because of his obsession. The two big twist I never saw coming! Haha, they may have been easy to spot but I’m usually just so in the moment some of the clues fly right over my head. I enjoyed the Dario and Nic references/cameos. In the last Lance scene it made me crave his story, to see a good guy turned feral and obsessive over someone and it would have to be at first sight making it even better! Another Lilah Raine book to help me through a funky/sorta slump.
