This was an easy read. The pacing was excellent, and the author held my attention throughout (always a sign of a good read). This is a short novel which you could slip into over a few hours. I liked it was a complete stand alone book - a nice change from cliff-hangers.
It missed out on five stars because I felt a few scenes just missed out on reaching maximum suspense and full emotional potential. It contains believable characters, heartbreak, and a good resolution. I see Asmara has other novels out and I am heading over to check them out after this :)

I couldn't get into it.

I waited to post my review, so that I could think on why this book did absolutely nothing for me. It was not just one thing or something that just stood out. This book was just not for me.

J. Asmara wrote a good story. I enjoyed reading this book. The description and detail to the scenes as she was setting it up was what made me like this story. I was able to understand how the heroin felt because the author did a good job of describing her feelings. The plot is good, and there is just enough steaminess in there to keep your attention. You didn't know what you were getting into until about halfway through the book and then BAM!! She hit you with the twist. Good story, good character development, and just enough of a preview to keep you wanting to know what happens next. I'm looking forward to reading Book 2 in this series.

Rayne has everything she could possibly want - a gorgeous husband, beautiful twins, a career and a spacious home.

But she also has some things she wished she didn't have - secrets, drama, and a sketchy past.

We all have heard the saying 'your lies will catch up to you', and Rayne was told that many times over as she was growing up, but she didn't listen.

J has done a really good job of pulling you into the characters lives, building suspense, unfolding the drama and leaving you wanting more.

Good storyline

This was a fast paced story that at times was a little disjointed and hard to follow due to the switches in past and present scenes without any warning or spacing. This could have been from the Kindle format though.

I gave this four versus five stars because of language that turns me off and jars me out of the story. The writing seemed a bit stilted at times but the story flowed quickly. Definitely a great storyline and I expect will be well loved by many.

When It Raynes

This book had a little bit of everything. Lies, deceit, sex, drama, conflict, etc. I could go on and on. Rayne had the perfect life until her lies and secrets started catching up to her. So many twists kept me turning the pages to see what would be revealed next. They say that Karma is a b**ch. I can't wait to see what part 2 will reveal.

Sexy characters and a haunting past

This story turned out to be not at all what I thought. The main character has it all. Sexy devoted husband, beautiful children, nice home and a great job. Life for Rayne is picture perfect. Until her past comes back to haunt her. She returns to her hometown for a short visit, only to have her secrets and lies catch up with her. Will her picture perfect life come crumbling down? Or will Rayne do what needs to be done to keep those secrets hidden???
This story was pretty good. The author did a great job of keeping me on the edge of my seat with what was going to happen next sprinkled in with a good dose of sexy scenes that made your toes curl. I can't wait to get started on book 2.

Lies, deceit and romance. This book has it. Rayne has been hiding a ten year old secret, that she is afraid could destroy her marriage. From the start we are given a wonderful descriptive insight into David and Rayne’s marriage and we know how over the top in love they are. They have built a great life together with two children and all of it becomes threatened when she has to return to her hometown after the death of her mother. As events unfold, it becomes harder for Rayne to hold it together, until it culminates into her facing her past. The cliff hanger ending leaves you wanting, but makes you want to know what happens next.

Overall good read

This book was good, worthy of recommending. I will definitely download the next part just to see how everything works out. Rayne has a lot of issues that she needs to deal with.
