A New Town. An Old Enemy. And a String of Deaths That Feel All Too Familiar.
Lila Hartley was finally settling back into the rhythm of her quiet librarian life, until the bodies started turning up.
When a wave of suspicious deaths rocks a nearby coastal town, Lila is dragged into a chilling mystery that reeks of unfinished business. The whispers sound too much like the nightmare she thought she’d left behind. And at the center of it all is a name she hoped never to hear again.
Her only lead? A hardened ex-con with direct ties to the killer who once slipped through her fingers.
With her sharp instincts, her fiercely loyal best friend Zoe, and her ever-watchful cat Whiskers, Lila peels back the town’s polished surface. But beneath it lies something rotten—backdoor deals, doctored reports, and a truth no one dares to say aloud.
The trail leads to two dangerous a charming businessman with a familiar, bone-chilling smile… and a dockworker whose past screams bloodshed. Every step closer puts Lila in the killer’s crosshairs.
She’s no longer chasing shadows; she’s within arm’s reach of the devil himself.
If Lila can’t stop him this time, she won’t just lose the case. She’ll be dragged under, like the victims before her.
The fourth book in the fun and page turning Lila And Whiskers Mystery series is a fast paced read that grabs you from the beginning with so many twists and turns as you go along. Lila get a real unexpected visitor who wants Lila to do something, a special request. When Lila decides to help, along with her very intuitive cat Whiskers and best friend Zoe, little did she know that the danger is more than she bargained for especially when she has to deal with a very dangerous drug dealer. Can the three of them succeed in their quest or are they walking into something they can't get out of. This book has a fantastic ending! Not only do I recommend this great addition to the series, but I highly recommend the entire series. I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Lila is approached by Maren the daughter of Adam Brunswick, the drug dealer that caused problems in their small town of Willow Creek to help take him down after he left her to take the rap for illegal dealings. This is a story with a lots of twists and turns and Lila, Maren, and Zoe, Lila's journalist friend, find as they are looking to bring Adam down. They have a journal that they figured out and went to the town that they knew he was in. He had changed his name, face, and location but the drug that he sold still were causing problems. They worked on the case until they were able to get him but still there were issues. Page-turner and interesting way to solve crime. I received an arc and this is my review.
Twists and turns are key in this cozy that starts quickly and is hard to put down. Lila has a visit from someone she never expected to meet who has a special request. Lila decides to assist and with the help of her best friend, she finds herself diving deep into an investigation that could put the entire trio in grave danger. Meanwhile, Whiskers is not the best houseguest.
This was an exciting book, with lots of unexpected twist & turns. Lila, Zoe and Whiskers find themselves in a dangerous situation and have to use all their wits to see it through to the end. This was an easy book to read and hard to put down. I agree with others in that the ending was great. This is my honest and voluntary review after receiving an ARC of the book.
A very dangerous mission for Lila as she faces a killer with her best friend, Zoe, and the killer's daughter. Excitement, danger and intrigue as the three work together to achieve their goal. I enjoyed this book.
I read this book as part of an advance reader team. I am voluntarily writing this review.
The Librarian's Booking a Killer is an Excellent story about Lila a Librarian and Puzzle Addict and her special cat Whiskers. She is a determined person tracking down someone who had escaped the law. She started on his track by Maren his daughter. Lila , Maren and Zoe an Investigative Reporter searched for him. But will they receive justice this time? Great book and series.
Librarian, put the books on hold, go catch a killer.
Lila Hartley would love to quit looking over her shoulder and move on with her life, unfortunately he was still out there. A figure in the shadows, him or ? The author draws you in, characters you can see in your mind, the mystery unfolds keeping you reading until the last page. Looking forward to more from this author.

Lila Hartley is on the hunt again, venturing outside the library to hunt for a killer. The Librarian's Booking A Killer: A Lila Hartley Cozy Mystery Lila and Whiskers Mystery Book 4 was just what I was hoping for. For the past year, Lila Hartley has been looking over her shoulder for a sleazy criminal who escaped justice. When no one else will bring drug smuggler Adam Brunswick to justice, Lila and her team depart on a no-holds-barred hunt to track him down. Lila is a believable but brilliant detective reminiscent of the Nancy Drew or Agatha Christie genre. Whiskers the crime-solving cat was a fun element. Rhea Brown's characters are well-developed, including her bestie investigative journalist Zoe and wild card newbie Maren Brunswick. This mystery kept me engaged with action, adventure, kidnapping, and pulse-pounding drama. Want to see whether the sleazeball criminal gets away again? I won't tell; you'll just have to read it for yourself! Although this story is well-written some mistakes still linger in the manuscript. I haven't read the other books in the series but I had no difficulty syncing with this installment. I highly recommend readers to snuggle up in a comfy armchair with a favorite cat to devour this fast-paced cozy mystery!
