This is a fenomenal book! I don't know where to start. First time I met A.J.Hoge was on his youtube channel where I have listened to some of his lessons. He is definitely a great man with specific teaching style. This book covers not only methods and rules on how to study English but psychological aspects as well which are so necessary. We all need energy, will power, passion to study anything not only English. It is kind of awkward to do some of the things given in the book, but it can only be helpful. And it costs nothing to try at least :) This book is especially useful for those students who are stressed and affraid of speaking English in front of the people. They can benefit a lot from reading this book. Maybe the only thing I don't particularly like is how A.J. criticizes grammar. Grammar in general is very useful for beginners who meet with English the first time. But, on the other side, A.J. is right when it comes to efficiency and speed of learning. We all have learned more by listening, watching english shows and videos, and speaking with people, than by studying grammar textbooks. That's a fact but I wouldn't forget about grammar study at least in the beginner phase. I personally like English very much; it is definitely the best and the most beutiful language in my opinion and I'll always look for the ways to improve my English skills. I already have some proper English background but anyway when it comes to this book, it can definitely be very useful for all people around the world on any level. The book is very readable and can be finished in no time. Just read and apply some of the techniques given in the book. They are great and very effective. Warm recommendations to everyone!
Written in simple language. Mostly aimed at absolute beginners of English Language. Too much repetition of the content makes it boring to read. Many a time, this book is more likely to persuade you to join his courses, which I find more annoying, yet his techniques are so good that it helps everyone from beginner to intermediate learner to improve their speech and the way they learn English as well. I recommend this book to anyone who is eager to speak a new language because the techniques are more universal - which can be applied to learn any language. Literally, there is no such thing that is specially designed to speak 'English' like a native.
Some important things to think about in language learning and teaching. I especially appreciate the author's emphasis on *listening*. I believe that listening training and practice hold the key to improving English proficiency in places like Taiwan, Japan and Spain (and just about anywhere else for that matter), which mostly follow the default textbook-based vocabulary-and-grammar method, with very little audio input or practice. Students generally end up with fairly good reading comprehension, but poor listening and speaking skills.
The book is written to be easily accessible to L2 speakers, and was almost "effortless" to read – I finished it in a day, mostly with TTS.

Well if you want to learn english or you can’t speak english but you understand everything this is the best book for you. It’s been 2 weeks for me and I’m already better and can speak without thinking, words just comes out of my mouth.
I'm not so good in English, so this book was (is) useful for me. It's full of weird ideas - like "throw your textbook outside your windows...", "don't study grammar..." "learn with your ears and not with your eyes..." and so on. AJ is a funny English teacher - maybe it's more correct to define him "a coach" - and this book is a summary of lessons and podcasts that anyone can find surfing on the web. So, the ideas are widly discussed, with more examples, but nothing new about it. But I didn't buy this book with the purpose to find something new about learning technique: I've bought it with a deep sense of gratitude, for his effort and his passion about his work. It's like a "like" button on Facebook - but on Amazon :-)
In my view, three suggestions in this book are very helpful in improving English speaking ability. One is learning phrases rather than single word vocabulary, second thinking in English before gathering words and finally the building of confidence and enthusiasm in learning speaking English. Generally, this books is helpful one in improving your speaking abilities.
A very interesting guide to master English.. I liked this book because it is not like the classical guides .. Enjoy reading it.. AJ Hoge is a Creative Author..
Amazing book for real ,,,l liked all the tips and techniques mentioned in the book for learning english the Easy way The Effortless English system is a new method for learning english that is completely different from what we used to learn at the school system which is based on translation and grammar approach which doesn't work to improve our speaking ability This is the best book I read about learning english and the effortless english system is really effective and making the learning process much faster, easier and fun than the old school way I Highly recommend this book and the effortless english system for anyone who want to learn english the Easy way :)
AJ hoge is the most incredible teacher in the world in general he doesn’t learn you just English he learn you how to live your life He’s my model in my life I am somehow addicted to his voice his ideas his stories Thanks AJ
I feel uncomfortable writing in English ( I'm not a native speaker ) , but since this book is for learning English so I will try, I think the best part of this book is the movie technique which is using movies or tv shows to help you understand and speak faster than traditional ways of teaching language in schools and courses, other topics in the book seem not so practical as the movie technique. to be fair the critique of lacking idioms learning in courses is also a good point, I will use these methods described by the author but not sure of the result due to the fact that it will take a several months to make an apparent change. only after that I can recommend or not this approach.
A. J Hoge has a course for beginners called :power English. I personally started listening to power English in 2020 because I had a lot of free time back then, so I thought to myself why not giving power English course a try and see if it works as promised. As I can recall I woke up one day and I put on excited music and I had a great mood, I followed that music by listening to the first lesson of the power English course, also I made a plan to not miss a day and keep myself consistent about listening and repeating, and by magic I followed that strategy written in this book and described in the power English course I could eventually start to speak English. Finally in 2021 I found myself teaching English to students and I nailed it. Ps: I wanted to say thank you so much to my best English teacher ever A. J Hoge for helping me to break my negative limiting beliefs that I had about English and to become more confident and enthusiastic about it.
It combines neurolinguistic programming with the 7-step self-learning process that he has developed; which seem organic, intuitive and effective. I am bothered by the analogies that he makes throughout the text because they are aimed at the male market, which, throughout the reading made me feel that I was reading something that was not written for me.
This is by far one of the best book about english learning. The author educates readers not only about tools and techniques but also about emotions and motivation. Very well-done. His coaching style is direct, and his ideas are on point. Writing does come from reading, the same as speaking comes from listening. A small issue though, is that he dismisses the traditional teaching too much. Educated traditionally, i know that although it's a lot of hard work and sometimes tedious, it still hold good values.
I've just found the book while i was searching for IELTS preparation books, and it was the right concidence, i've read it in a week and tried to summarize the method in 5 clear point. Below my modest impression to each point : The author beleives that the socle for an effective journey to learn english is The psychology of the learner and the materiels used to acheive the goal : this is a big rule to start learning any topic. -> For the psychological side they must before starting the rituals of learning, attaching the state of learning to a peak of positive emotions. -> Connect the verbal learning to actions ( move while learning, explain the difficult vocabulary with gestures) ->Listen to podacst, audiobook, listen and answer story, whenever you have the opportunity to, with that you unconsciously absorb phrases and sentences and also get the right pronounciation from a native english speaker. ->Prepare a daily routine to learn english, each day preserve some time for that, because effortless english necisst consistancy and perseverence. -> As listening while enhance your prononciation abilities, Reading will magnify your writing.
I found the book very usefull and informative, in the first pages you will get bored but i assure you it's not, you can skipe the introduction and get to the rules directly.
This book offers an unconventional way of learning a language. Ironically, if you think about it, this 'unconventional' method is just common sense. Take learning a language naturally, for instance. Reflecting on reality, we were able to acquire our native language naturally. We didn't need school or go through a curriculum to do that, yet we successfully learned how to speak it. Hence, to learn another language, all we have to do is go back to how we learned our native language and apply that method to our endeavour to learn another language. However, for some reason (mostly political, I believe), this approach is not being implemented in most, if not all, educational institutions (and this is another story).
So, I admire the author for speaking up and taking the initiative to write this book. I may not agree with every tip he gave because, after all, I still believe individuality and learning preferences matter, and I think we must always start from there. But this is a worthwhile read, especially for those who want to learn to speak English or another language in general and want to have a particular way or 'program' in doing it. I believe this book will be most beneficial for beginner learners.
When I first picked up this book, I thought I was going to find myself with another grammar/vocabulary book, but it turns out that the book was nothing like that… it would be an understatement to say that the book exceeded my expectations.
I found hope, confidence, and motivation in this book. I read this book in less than 3 days because I was so curious. This book changed the way I see English, I used to see English as just another boring subject I had to just “go through” and now I see English as an opportunity to learn, connect, make friends, grow personally and professionally much more.
I never paid special attention to my mental state when I was learning English. However, after reading this book, I made a commitment to myself that I will be in a high emotional state when learning English. I will achieve this emotional state by singing, dancing, playing music, moving…
Anyway, thank you so much for this wonderful book that opened my eyes in so many ways. I learned so many techniques that are not only going to serve me when learning English but also in my personal life.
WOWWWW!The book was amazing. The author knows how English is being taught all over the world since he has been teaching English for 20 years. He knows the flaws in teaching methods. In this book, the author tells about 7 rules which we can apply to learn the English language. He says Psychology of students or people is more important in learning English language. Our limiting beliefs also act as a barrier to learn the English language. In this book Author even tells what we should do to change our limiting beliefs. He says the English language is not a subject to be studied but a skill to be developed. The 7 rules author tells about are very practical.we can apply those rules to learn English or any other language. If you want to learn English or any other language you should read this book.

This is bibble fot those who want to speak English fluently so I strongly recommend please read this book. If your are struggling with English. Ladies and Gentelmen I would like to introduce you to the best book about learning languages ever! So far I have read it two or three times! It is not a long position but contains a bunch of necessary information! I would recomend it to everyone who does not like traditional school approach to learning foreign language!
