Desert Kings MC #3

Daddy Issues

Rate this book
Kenna

Despite all my good intentions and a metric ton of dry shampoo, my life is always one step away from falling apart. What’s a girl to do? Run. Hide. Pretend like all my mistakes never happened.

Running is easier than facing my mistakes, than facing him.

Tall, tattooed, and built like a concrete wall, Puck Kelly is the sexiest man I’d ever seen. He’s also a Desert King and I’m pretty sure he killed…for me.

The messed up part? That only makes me want him more.

I’ve been hooked on this series from the start, and Candi Scott never disappoints. She has such a talent for pulling you into a story with her incredible writing and addictive plots.

Kenna and Puck’s story was everything I hoped for! Definitely a slow burn, but so worth the wait! The chemistry between them was off the charts, and the steamy scenes…whew, they’ll leave you drooling. I especially loved the scene with them and Jester 🔥

I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series. If you haven’t picked up Candi Scott yet, you’re seriously missing out!

Would I recommend this book to you? Yes

Expected Release Date: AVAILABLE NOW

Thank you to BookSirens and Author Candi Scott for the ebook. All thoughts in this review are my own.

Puck and Kenna

This is a great addition to the Desert Kings series and now we have Puck’s and Kenna’s story. Puck is a single dad and Kenna is a damaged soul. The chemistry and steam is hawt and the storyline even better. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

Another good book in the series, this time following Kenna and Puck.

Puck saved Kenna at the end of the last book, and this is something that she is ashamed of. She feels it is her fault for putting herself in that vulnerable position, and also what Puck had to do afterwards. She has stayed away from her friends at the clubhouse and taken a different job, waitressing at The Black Cat. Her home life with her stepfather, David, is now hell because of his relationship with Nadine. She is causing a rift to develop between them, which makes Kenna feel more alone.

While waitressing, she eventually runs into some of the MC, Puck being one of them. When he sees her, he is happy, knowing that she is ok. He has always had a soft spot for Kenna. She has babysat his son Eli, who adores and misses her. He has also developed feelings for her, but pushed them down, way down, trying to keep it friendly. But those feelings will no longer stay buried; they are coming to the fore whether he likes it or not.

Kenna has always thought Puck was HOT! Her attraction to him has intensified, but at the same time, she feels shame because of what happened. She hides behind bravado, sarcasm, and wit. Both do the merry dance of hiding their feelings, their attraction, but the inferno is now stoked, its heat intensifying, and when it eventually catches them, they will burn, in the most delicious of ways.

Okay, Daddy Issues is exactly what you'd expect from a dark MC romance—but in the best way. It’s gritty, spicy, and full of emotional chaos. Kenna is a total mess (and she knows it), trying to outrun her past and her own self-doubt. Then there’s Puck—massive, tattooed, and the kind of guy who looks like he’d kill for you… and might actually do it without blinking.

Their connection is instant and intense, like “we’re in too deep and it’s only chapter two” kind of intense. But what really pulled me in was how vulnerable they both are beneath all the bravado. It’s not just about the heat (though, trust me, there’s plenty of that)—it’s about two broken people trying to find something real in a messed-up world.

If you're into dangerous men with soft spots and emotionally messy women who don’t back down, this one’s for you. It’s wild, hot, and surprisingly heartfelt.

This was an amazing book to read I found I couldn't get enough the story was written well and the characters were fantastic. This story was about Puck and Kenna, have known each other for a long time because of the Desert Kings MC, Puck, is the Sargent In Arm's and a tattoo artist, he has a Tattoo shop that had a flat upstairs that he owned. Kenna turned up to the Tattoo shop to get piercings, and Puck is to protective of her so he done the piercings. Kenna came with every bit of pain and he watched, it only got hotter until she left. Puck is always looking out for her, he won’t touch her with his broken soul he only wants her to be happy. Kenna has been broken years ago at a frat party, she needed saving, she lost her soul that night and he would try and build her back up to a strong female.

I received an advance review copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is my own opinion and was not influenced by anyone.

Book 3 in the Desert Kings series is about Kenna and Puck. The first 2 books in the series were about the same couple so I am thinking the next book will continue their story. These characters are complicated people who struggle within their own lives. Now Puck is being so protective of Kenna, who has some self worth issues.

The plot does pull you into their story. I love that by giving the characters multiple books that you really get to know the characters and their world. This is a major selling point to me. I need to want to explore these people. And I do. The chemistry between Kenna and Puck is off the chart as well.

Worth the read.

I picked up the book on a stuff your kindle day, went in blind on a new author in a category I don't typically read.
This book has stuck with me.
And now I will have to watch for more books to come.
Kenna has had a tough go of things.
She has never really had someone in her life to have her back. So she's not sure she can ever trust anyone to truly have her back. I get that. It takes a special man to make that change. Can puck be that man? One click and devour this book. ;)

Great third book. Kenna has avoided the clubhouse since Puck rescued her. When he finds her, he can't stay away. He has been warned away from Kenna by the AP. When she returns to the clubhouse she can't avoid him and teases whenever she gets a chance. This book is full of danger, suspense, tangled emotions between two stubborn people, and a cliff-hanger that has Puck trusting Kenna with Eli while he is called to the AP's house fire. I look forward to reading the next book.

Kenna has faced a tough life, marked by loss and the pain of those she loves walking away. Puck, the SAA of an MC and devoted father to his young son Eli, carries his own burdens. Despite a strong mutual attraction, both struggle to find the courage to take their relationship to the next level. Their journey is raw, messy, and at times challenging, but it pulls you in and takes you on an unforgettable ride.

Excellent book. So much intensity both good and scary. Puck is two sides of a coin an artist and a hooligan. Kenna is so full of feeling and always waiting to be pushed down and degraded she needs Puck. He. Has had so much trouble with keeping his life on track he needs a woman so sees who he is and needs all of him. Hoping for that HEA in the next book

Part one of Kenna and Puck. Nice! I knew they would be an explosive duo. I’m glad to see happy moments after the experiences Kenna had in previous books. Lots of action and Desert Kings being kings. If you know you know behavior. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I’m eager to get to the next book. I hate cliffhangers but understand why this one was necessary. Great character development and growth for Kenna. Happy reading!

I really fell in love with the way that the story was written. The story is about Kenna and her life and the things she went through and is going through. Puck is a member of the MC Kenna is in love with him.but has not realized it yet. I loved it I cannot wait to the next chapter. This story picks right off where the first book left off with Puck and Kenna. Both Puck and Kenna have broken souls and try to hide it behind a tough facade, but along the way they realize they can’t outrun their attraction to each other anymore.
This book is full of spice, grit, emotional chaos, heat, trust, wild and heartfelt.

Kenna was raised by the MC and was also saved by them when a Frat party went wrong. Now she works at a mob run gentlemen's club. Puck does not want her working there. He tries very hard to get her to come work at his tatoo shop. But the sparks fly.

I love Kenna and Puck. Kenna was so awesome in Cam and Riley’s story so it’s great to read her story now. Glad there’s not a bad cliffhanger between this book and the next one. I’m hoping that Jester or Merc comes next. All of the characters in this series are just so fun to follow.

MC Romance/Suspense/Action

This story is Kenna’s and Puck’s. It was good but I couldn’t get into it like I did with Cam and Riley’s story but I did like it. We get to know more about Kenna and her hardships and her past as well. She’s had it rough and you really get to know her, I love her as a strong character. I absolutely loved the dynamic between Puck’s son Eli and Kenna too. Eli really made it so fu bc to read. The spice was spicing. Not too spicy but spice nonetheless. Very sexy and deep with the characters.

My heart broke for Kenna at that frat party and being messed around by ghost so this book opening on her working the bar/ club, being her own person was ace. That euphoria didn’t last long when the way Amber was treated by her step dad’s new girlfriend, Dave not defending her, feeling like she needs to keep her distance from her friends because They are ‘club’ and she is spiralling. Her big crush Puck sees her at work, she’s too young , he’s a single father, she’s a brother’s daughter, all reason to stay away . Common sense is overrated

Daddy Issues is an absolutely fantastic addition to the Desert Kings MC series, bringing us the eagerly awaited story of Puck and Kenna. This book is an addictive read; the story is well-written, and the characters are nothing short of fantastic. I found myself unable to get enough!

Puck, the club’s Sergeant-at-Arms and a tattoo artist, is also a devoted single dad. His life is intricately tied to the Desert Kings, and through the MC, he and Kenna have known each other for a long time. Kenna, a woman carrying the burden of a deeply damaged soul, arrives at Puck’s tattoo shop for piercings, and from that moment on, the tension is palpable.

The chemistry and steam between these two are scorching hot, elevating the storyline even further. Puck is fiercely protective of Kenna, so much so that he insists on doing the piercings himself. The scene where he watches Kenna wrestle with the pain she brings with her—only for the encounter to grow hotter—perfectly encapsulates their magnetic and complicated connection.

Kenna’s vulnerability stems from a devastating event at a frat party years ago, which left her broken. Puck sees her pain and is driven by an intense need to look out for her. Despite his burning desire, he keeps his distance, believing his own soul is too broken to touch her, wanting only to help her build herself back up into the strong female she deserves to be. This push-and-pull dynamic between the protective bad boy and the woman he wants to save makes for truly compelling reading.

I cannot wait for the next book in this series! Candi Scott delivers a story that has heart, heat, and incredible character depth.

This is book three of one of my favorite MC series. Romance wise, the first two books focus on MC VP Cam, and Riley, the daughter of the late MC President. The storyline focus is on solving the murder of Riley's father. I loved that two book story arc and I highly recommend it.

This book features two of the supporting characters, Puck and Kenna, and sets up a new storyline that I am sure will continue in book four because although this isn't a cliffhanger, the story is not resolved. This couple has some some stumbling blocks - he thinks he can't give her what she needs, and she has been let down so often by others that she doesn't believe they can have something lasting. These characters have amazing chemistry. I love her strength and tenacity, and I love how protective he is of her and how devoted he is to his son.

The author has a great writing style. This steamy, fast paced story flows well and captured me from the first page. It has all the MC romance requisites: a compelling plot, strong believable characters, action and danger plus an emotional love story. I loved it and I can't wait for the next book.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I love the Desert Kings Series and Daddy Issues has been a phenomenal followup to the first two (which if you havent read you need to immediately) Candi is fanstastic at creating characters that just make you want to love them (we love Puck FOREVER) , or hate them (im looking at you ghost) and when I say that you will need all of the ice for the steam in this book i'm not even kidding. Theres this one part where. . . no. . .I can't. . .just read it and thank me later for the recommendation.
All Jokes aside Kenna and Puck's stpry is an incredible continuation of the desert MC saga. The best thing about Scott is that there is a genuine story at the heart of this, don't get me wrong i love my smut but that isnt all this is. (not to say there isnt a good bit of it thank god) The growth in these two throughout this story had me cheering from the sidelines. Im beyond excited for the next one, i'm already impatient for spin off series (Val, come on you know he needs a book or 3 or 10) perhaps a novella featuring someones younger sibling (Jester can come too. Jester is always allowed) I dont care I just want to read them all.

Kenna and Puck’s story this time around.

There was a different type of heat with this one - the first two in the series are on a top shelf for me but this one is definitely not disappointing.

Kenna has some trauma and demons, with Puck adding his to the mix it’s going to take a lot for these two to sort themselves out.

Lots of passion, sweet looks, soft touches.

Even though the books are short we get lots of detail, plenty of steam and smut.

There’s an ongoing plot which I love - there’s continuations but no true cliffhangers. The plot is intriguing and isn’t just there to fill the space between smut.

The characters are detailed and the author has created as atmosphere on page that sucks you in.

Lost a star because I get really sick of the tiny woman/huge man trope but this one went even further to compare her to the size of a four year old. Eek.

We had some returning characters and I so hope Jester gets his turn.

This series is fantastic and I’m so keen for the next one.

Oh my gosh, I can’t with Kenna and Puck! My heart literally broke for Kenna at that frat party, so seeing her finally carving out her own life at the bar/club had me cheering. But of course, life doesn’t make it easy—her friends, her family drama, and that spiraling feeling had me on edge right along with her.
And then Puck shows up. A single dad, her brother’s friend, her longtime crush…so many reasons to stay away, yet common sense goes straight out the window. The tension between them is unbearable in the best way.
Candi Scott absolutely nails the mix of heat, emotion, and action. I laughed, swooned, and maybe even cried a little. The growth these two go through had me rooting for them nonstop. If you love MC romances with heart, danger, and steam, this one’s for you.

This is another fab addition to the series and my heart about broke for Kenna. She has been through so much. She's dealing with loss, pain and hard emotions but she shows such a strong front. MC member and single father, Puck carries his own burdens. These two have a strong attraction to each other but they both struggle with admitting it to themselves, let alone each other. Expect to root hard for them as this fast paced romance takes you on a engaging reading ride to their HEA. It's hot, flows well, has action and danger...all the things I love in an MC romance. Good fun!

Daddy Issues by Candi Scott is an addictive and emotionally charged dark romance that grips from the first page and refuses to let go. Through Kenna’s voice, the story pulses with raw honesty, danger, and desire balancing vulnerability and intensity in equal measure. Scott’s writing captures the beauty of chaos and the thrill of forbidden attraction, giving readers a heroine both broken and brave. The chemistry between Kenna and Puck ignites with every page, making this installment a captivating dive into redemption, obsession, and the murky lines between love and survival.
