Anastacia is finally home but according to her mates, no one can know, the long-lost queen has returned. It’s not safe they say, there may still be traitors to the crown still afoot, not everyone was caught as a traitor when her parents died and some of those traitors went into hiding before they were caught. Her mates are nothing like what she imagined or even really hoped for, but they are hers and she will keep them all the same. They have flaws and rules, so many rules they want her to obey, the rules she can handle just fine, she ignores them, but the flaws come with consequences she will not let go by. Anastacia and her mates learn about who she really is and just how powerful she can become, secrets are outed and pasts are revealed, new allies are brought to light. Nox, Azrael, Kai, Zane and Caspian are all on different sides of the fence when it comes to having a mate and being mated. Azrael wants his mate and to be mated as soon as possible but still plans to have fun until then. Zane is about in the same boat as Az when it comes to wanting his mate but still a little on the fence about when he will become mated to her. Kai will kind of just go with the flow, he doesn’t really want to be mated fully but he won’t be left out if the majority rules. Nox will never lose his mate again and he will make sure of it but when it comes to be mated, maybe in about a 100 years or so. Caspian is extreme left, he doesn’t want a mate or ever to be mated, he sees having a mate as a curse not a blessing and will do anything to push her away. All her men are still extremely possessive and controlling, it doesn’t matter where in life they are or if they even want her. No one will touch what’s theirs. They still only believe in the siren way, and have no intention of ever seeing it differently, regardless of how their mate feels about it. Acceptance is what they strive for, but they are ok with secrets too, will their mate ever accept their way of life or will she make them regret their romantic endeavors.
This is a dark RH paranormal romance; it is intended for ages 18+
Trigger Dark themes Death and lots of it Infidelity Kinks Strong sexual scenes Abuse Past and present Trauma
Warning
This is a very dark romance series; it could be categorized as a horror/romance. There is very strong suggestive material throughout and lots of violence and carnage, it is not meant to be light. The books become darker as they go on and must be read in order to understand the characters and storyline. The FMC is basically unhinged, she is brutal and has very gray morals, the men are just as bad as she is except they can be extremely cruel. There are no cinnamon roll characters and no snowflakes, no one is kissing each other’s butts or bowing down to one another. Then men are borderline abusive throughout and will remain that way until closer to the end.
This is the second book to the Sirens series, all books must be read in order, so if you haven’t read book 1 Bloodlines go back and check it out!
Book 2 did not disappoint. As new information is revealed about Ana’s parents the Mates are baffled and unsure what their next step should be. Ana becomes more protective of her mates and retaliates whenever they get with another person. She cannot control the power of revenge and anger that she feels as she goes through the motions.

Book 2 picks up right where book 1 leaves off. We see Anna continuing to butt heads with her mates over their promiscuity. You would think those fools would learn that girl is NEVER going to be OK with sharing! The general outline of book 2 touches on Anna being at odds with her mates over these social norms and the fleshing out of Anastasia's identity.
Anastasia is presented to the kingdom as thier fiancee, not true mate. She goes along with this veil of deception but her true identity will shine through as her other magic abilities surface . She is assigned a tutor to learn the ways of a siren, i think it was Cas' favorite booty girl-she dies. She watches Nox get a bj -shes dead. And maybe a few other casualties sprinkled along the way.
Caspian will absolutely tick you off in this book. I wanted to throat punch him several times. The tub scene where he plays with her while retelling a sex scene with Nox and other girls....my heart broke for Anna. Then he ties her up and makes her watch him w/ 3 chicks. He's simply vicious and purposely hurtful. I honestly hated him throughout the majority of this book.
Anna's 'guardian' from her home kingdom plays a significant role in regards to flushing out some long lost legends of the 1st sirens and of her mother. She learns her bio father was the heir to the now extinct Resurrection Kingdom. And there seems to be a mystery afoot regarding Titiana and how Anna came to be raised by humans.
The book ends in an epic pool scene where she annihilates a group of sirens with her newly developed skills- the Siren song and banshee scream. Overall its another excellent read. The murder scenes are epic and you will definitely find yourself rooting for Anna. Oh, and lets not forget about the sex scenes! There are some legit horror scenes (Nox and anal) and fire sexy scenes!
0 Stars – Deeply Disappointing and Misleading Series Review of the Sirens Series (to date) by Mandie Rae
I rarely leave reviews like this, but I feel compelled to speak up after pushing through the available books of this series. I went into Sirens expecting a reverse harem/why choose romance with dark themes - what I got instead was a disturbing, repetitive, and frankly misleading experience that left me frustrated and uncomfortable.
To be clear: this is not a reverse harem in any recognizable or respectful form. The genre expectations are completely disregarded in favor of what can only be described as a cycle of abuse masquerading as romance. There’s a difference between dark romance and outright exploitation, and unfortunately, this series repeatedly crosses that line.
The plot is virtually nonexistent. From book one through to book four, the main storyline barely evolves, the main character remains stuck in the same toxic loops, and the love interests continue with behavior that would be considered unforgivable in any other context. The emotional development is stunted, the relationships lack any semblance of consensual growth or respect, and the tone often feels shockingly flippant toward deeply serious issues.
I’m not sure how or why this series was positioned within the why choose subgenre, but it’s a poor and even harmful fit. The series leans heavily on graphic violence, abuse, and manipulation without the emotional payoff or narrative purpose that dark romance typically requires to be effective or meaningful.
I can handle gritty, I can handle morally grey - what I can’t handle is watching trauma be repackaged as romance without thought or care. Every character was unlikable, and the storytelling felt stuck on repeat, with only the shock factor being turned up with each book.
This is, hands down, the most difficult and disappointing series I’ve ever read in this genre. I can only hope that future books from this author take a more thoughtful approach - or at the very least, are more accurately marketed.
I can only imagine what BookTok will say when they get their hands on this.
It’s genuinely baffling how this book - let alone the entire series (thus far) - made it to publication in its current form. The content is, at best, deeply questionable and, at worst, deeply concerning. It reads like a personal catharsis more than a coherent or responsibly written story. If this was meant to be therapeutic, I sincerely hope more supportive outlets are being explored beyond publishing "fiction".
