Carolina Canine Mysteries #6

The Coastal Cupcake Caper: A Carolina Canines Cozy Mystery

Rate this book
Cupcakes, Chaos, and Canine Detectives—Oh My!

What's worse than a missing recipe book? How about guests collapsing into their afternoon tea!

When dog trainer Bea Whitman checks into the quirky Seaside Haven B&B, she's hoping for beach walks and legendary cupcakes. Instead, she gets a front-row seat to the dessert disaster of the century. The owner's in the hospital, her prized recipe book has vanished, and now a guest is seeing purple cats after one bite of the famous Coastal Dream cupcakes.

Good thing Bea's brought Luna, her sweet golden and therapy dog, and Max, a feisty French Bulldog whose detective skills are rivaled only by his ability to find trouble (and snacks). Together, this crime-solving trio must sniff out the truth behind the B&B's sudden plague of tummy troubles.

Between a developer who won't take no for an answer, a zen-obsessed rival innkeeper caught dumpster-diving for recipes, and enough family secrets to fill a cookbook, everyone's acting fishier than yesterday's catch. And just when Bea thinks the case is her biggest challenge, life serves up a plot twist sweeter than any cupcake!

The Coastal Cupcake Caper is a delightfully silly romp through small-town mayhem, complete with adorable dogs, terrible baking puns, and a mystery that'll keep you guessing. Perfect for readers who like their cozies with extra frosting and a side of puppy kisses.

May cause uncontrollable cravings for cupcakes and an urgent need to adopt a French Bulldog from your local rescue!

The editing was atrocious. More than 1 time the whole paragraph was repeated. Once you describe a character's Eyewear, it is not necessary to describe it again and again. Most dogs have brown eyes, you don't have to describe the same dog's eyes every couple of pages. That is just few of the flashy descriptions that suggestions a writer is just filing pages. Also, you can't tell the difference between a t shirt made from hemp and one made from cotton from across the street and down the beach. Done with this writer.

I really like this series, but it has occasional errors. They need better proofreading. It doesn't take away from the story, but does make you scratch your head.
