I'm a mom of two sons, blogger, illustrator, traditional and digital artist, publisher, reader, reviewer and multi-genre indie author who loves to mix genres, and an inventor, playwright who writes all genres including visionary fiction.
My oldest son is a product of my previous interracial marriage. He's bi-racial. He is autistic/nonverbal and making steady and exceptional progress daily. He's an honor roll student. He's 18 years old and just graduated from high school (Class of 2025). I'm in a serious relationship and just recently gave birth to my youngest son (2022). I have multiple biracial/multi-racial family members.
And I will write my oldest son's biography one day in the near future. And yes, I will be self-publishing it.
*I'll be writing and illustrating books in the near future for children, teens and young adults that my sons can relate to.

My novel "Weeping Well" is revised and has been re-released (July 2017) and is now on Amazon and other online participating stores in paperback and e-book. A sequel to "Weeping Well" will be added starting from 2008-2010. "Weeping Well" will be a four book series.

It's a YA/literary fiction/coming of age/set in 1989-2008/family/mystery/suspense/psychological/ horror/thriller/dark gothic romance/ supernatural/ sports/ travel/some sci-fi (Mississippi, UK, Chicago, Japan) multicultural, multiracial/multilingual and so much more.

My next novel is a sci-fi/fantasy/with several genres mixed in and will be released and the sequel in the future.

In between this time next year I will be doing Ghostwriting and Editing Services for Upcoming/Indie Authors (see Goodreads blog). Questions on rates and times will be explained and posted when I have a clear schedule from writing my own books.

I have been writing for 33 years since I was 13 years old. *I returned to illustrating/ sketching a few years ago. But have been sketching and doing art since I was ten years old. *Several of my drawings from my vast and eclectic art portfolio are on Wattpad if interested.

I have self-published my first of many books called "Corridors of My Mind," a nonfiction memoir about my life written in the form of poetry.

I've been published before in poetry anthologies a number of times when I was very young through poetry contests.

When I was fifteen years old, I was once offered a publishing contract by Harlequin, although they didn't know how young I was at the time and I decided not to sign.

I always wanted to be an indie author. I wrote for my college newspaper and yearbook when I was nineteen majoring in English and Journalism. I also have three college backgrounds in Computer Science, Computer Business, Advertising and Marketing, Nursing, Literature, Child Development, Psychology, Liberal Arts, Creative Writing to name some.

I love mixing genres and subgenres, subplots and plots. I mix it up until its a quagmire/ paradox of infinite plots twists and turns, etc.

I am literally incapable of writing any other way. Besides, I get bored easily and crave and use the glory of unpredictability in my writing. My writing is very unique and I go beyond the edge of literature.

I love literature and my favorite authors are Edgar Allan Poe, Walt Whitman, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Tennessee Williams, Bret Harte, William Shakespeare and yes I can understand every word spoken in Shakespeare's works, one of my favorites of his is "Macbeth." Mark Twain and William Faulkner, Alice Walker, Sylvia Plath, to name a few more.

Well. Sit yourselves down. Maybe I haven't read much poetry in a while, though I read Tennyson quite a lot, or as I like to call him "The one who plays all my favourite tunes at once".

The beautifully titled Corridors of My Mind, by Angel M.B. Chadwick, has created a collection of poetry that is, to be blunt, a quite astounding piece of work. Some of the chapters hit home runs more often than others, but Hurt Me is a stand out piece, I literally bled every line - so if anyone is thinking of writing poetry, and would like to refer to it in a modern life context, you really should read this book. It towers above anything I have read in years. I don't sugar coat books or authors - truly, if I like something, they'll know about it!

That's not to say you'll enjoy everything about it. Some of it really hits you like you woke up one day and decided to headbutt a rhino.

I don't wish to make light of this collection. It's a great literary set, and anyone who has never known anything from life probably won't glean anything from this collection. But, if you're like me, a repeat offender from the school of hard knocks, you'll take something from this book.

It will beat you, pummel you, make you want to submit. Don't read it fast - make sure you take your time, because there is a lot to absorb. Don't move onto the next poem until you have taken in the previous one. In the end, you will read it all. And you'll be grateful for the experience.

I was asked by the author to give an honest review of this book of poetry. I will say that poetry is not my first choice in reading, but this is a moving collection of poems. Stylistically not all of the poems "grabbed" me, but all of them are powerful in their way.

This collection of poems is a memoir of certain aspects of the author's life. The poems are at times disturbing and heart wrenching, as they give the reader a glimpse into what must have been some extraordinarily difficult times in her life. They give insight into the psyche of someone enduring an abusive relationship and I believe many other women will relate to these poems on a visceral level.

I loved lines such as:
"Take me atop your white horse,
The one that fits perfectly with my delusion
With your sword unsheathed
Tell me what you bring to the table
Perhaps, a fable with a dark secret underneath." (I won't spoil it by giving you the rest of the poem, but there was a line underneath this about malevolence in innocence which I loved.)

And the last line in the last poem:
"So many miles to go
Before I float above the surface
And maybe my hope will finally be strong once again"
I think so many people in a variety of difficult situations are going to relate to this journey through dark times

Corridors of My Mind is dark, at times disturbing, but well worth the read.

This is a marvellously emotional collection of poetry, and the author holds nothing back as she tackles the journey through life touching on life, death, lust, pain, love and others. This is often a dark read but I felt the author's passion and torment in a way I have rarely experienced from any other writer.
I shall be reading this again very soon as there is so much contained in these poems I think different layers will be revealed with further reading.
I am not sure how much of what I have read specifically relates to the author's personal experience and if it all does, then reading these poems makes me feel a little bit like a voyeur to the author's heart and soul.
A very emotional and at times disturbing reading experience but well worthwhile!

I got this book to write an honest review. Let me begin by telling you all that I’m by no means a person who likes to read poetry. It’s not because I dislike poetry. No, it has more to do with the fact that I think I’m unable to actually understand the depth in the poet’s words. I tried my best to understand the dark yet beautiful words Angel Chadwick used in this book and from what I understood; I greatly enjoyed what I read.

First I would like to talk about the title. “Corridors of My Mind” seems like the perfect title for this collection of poems. Each poem is as if we are entering the poets mind and exploring corridors. I have to applaud Angel for exposing herself like this and allowing readers to connect with her in such a way. Reading the poems it was evident that she went through a lot in her life but also persevered. The books have poems about pain, hurt, but also about hope, from what I could tell. It will make you think and I believe that’s a good thing. Written words need to be with you long after you’ve finished reading them.

I don’t know if other readers felt it but to me the poems had a lyrical quality to them. I found myself humming a tune and reading them as if they were songs about one’s life’s experiences. There were a lot of poems I enjoyed, some more than others, such as: Chapter 12 – Kiss Me Tomorrow When I’m Dead, Chapter 23 – Death’s Door, Chapter 46 – Slayer of Nightmares, and a lot more!

Even if you aren’t someone who reads poetry, you should check Corridors of the Mind out. You will surely find many poems you will enjoy reading. Think of them as beautiful songs that will surely stay with you when you are done reading.

Raw, and filled with pain Angel Chadwick writes from a bruised heart. Her evocative poems are short burst of anger, a person victimized by things happening around her, the words ever so more meaningful because she is aware what is happening to her. Sometimes full of rage, other times, remorseful, the poems change from a slavish love, to the outcry of an abused partner, both reflecting her comprehension that she is stuck, a prisoner to her feeling.
"I am Darkness and so is he
We are one in the same
Don't you see?"
She grows from victim to survivor with the wounds to show for it, with the poignant cry,"Should it hurt to love, to be loved?"
"Devout" is a brilliant observation about rejecting goodness, embracing the violence of darker side, knowing the pain will come rather than thinking things might be better in the light. Light, Chadwick states "Is the creeper It lies Weaves its spells Tells it's tale of healing..." Clearly she feels safer with the reliability of the pain rather than the promise of peace, the disappointment when it fails to deliver. Darkness is "Faithful to the core I know it will hurt me, make me bleed more It has no qualms or scruples." It's safer, more comforting for hope to be dead.
"The Quest" is filled with self-loathing, the hatred of being "Lost in the shadows with no place to run." Coupled with the brutal realization, "...I feel like I am obsessed to being in this life"
This was a brilliant collection, honest and pure, a reflection of different stages of life, of passion and pain, the words carefully weaving a spell on the reader, dragging them into the author's world.

There is alot of work included in this first work by the author. Many poets have much slimmer works. My problem with it though is although there is alot here the quality of the work is lacking. Many of the poems are broken and just don't work. The imagery she tries to use in some poems are in opposition or just don't work with the image she tries to create. Many times the words used are used incorrectly. I also couldn't tell at times whether she was attempting to rhyme or not, the scheme being open then not, or maybe it was just random that the rhymes even happened, I don't know. Often you could get yourself into a rhythm like a rap song the only problem with that is that it doesn't always work well with poetry. Rhythm should come from the beats in the line, repetition throughout. Another thing that stuck out to me is the month of June, she has a mild obsession with it, it must be a bad month for the author. Besides all the above, there are a few poems that stuck out during their first reading: Conversation, Dead on Canvas, Devout, Passage, Strong Whiskey, as well as one non poem Letter to an Unknown Soldier.
The majority of the poems deal with similar things in the authors life, and I know what it is like to write poetry about the same things like this. It is repetitious in a bad way when you get to much of it on paper. I can feel what the author is saying alot of her poems, but I feel that if she had spent the extra time in fine tuning the works beyond the raw stage she would of had a much better product in the end.

‘It’s not the pursuit of happiness but, the pursuit of life that is my song, my story’

Mississippi author and poet Angel M.B. Chadwick makes an impressive poetry debut with her collection of poems CORRIDORS OF MY MIND. Though she doesn’t offer biographical data on her Amazon page, everything we need to know about this artist can be found in her dedication of the book to her son Jacob (very tender) and in the words that spread across the pages of her poems.
These poems are the bruises of life and love as they have been inflicted upon Angel. The poems are from the heart, are very often dark, but always lyrical in the manner in which she places her thoughts on paper. Technically speaking Angel manner of random rhyming leads us into the inner sanctum of each poem, mesmerized by the flow, somehow allowing us entry into her pain and disappointments.

As is always the case in writing about a poet’s work, it is best to let Angel’s words speak for themselves:

Falling in Love

I held your heart in my hands
Tasted its sweet nectar
And it resurrected me
Connected me to you
This is what real falling in love is
A bloodletting ritual
Feeding on the other’s energy, need, thirst and hunger
A pistol pointed at your head and the trigger being pulled
There is no other choice but, to fall under its control
Like a rambunctious imp crawling, creeping, beseeching one’s lust, trust and finally disgust at ever being so damn vulnerable in the first place
Takes advantage of humanity’s impaired farsightedness of this blatant fact
One acts first, instead of thinks sensibly about falling in love
Like a sheltered babe caught in the undertow of its subterfuge
Believing this deluge is not the delusion, illusion it truly is but, real and emphatically so because one feels it so deeply
Feeling in love, falling in love is a false accusation set up by the Fates to toy with one’s insolent mind
But, I’m still bound to you just the same even after it’s over
That’s the worst
That’s the everlasting curse.

Emotions

Blossoming dreams
Friends I’ve met
Wayward winds
And secrets kept
A deep impression felt
There is nothing that is not left
A rift that is widening still and bleeding
No matter how much I plead
There are still facades that are deceiving
To all who assume and never think and always listen
to their very own tune.

There are both the raw and the polished phrases that ring throughout these poems. Angel Chadwick has much to say and watching her grow is a welcome anticipation.

Corridors of My Mind

By

Angel M.B Chadwick

*Five out of Five Stars*

I’ll start off with thanking Angel for giving me a chance to read this outstanding book. I love poetry in all its forms and its attributes.

This book represents the stages in life you travel in order to feel better and feel reformed after hardships in your life. Angel’s poetry is clear as a summer sky and beautiful as a flower near a lake, reflecting each word over the other.

Few poems struck me like lightning with their strong word formation and connection with their message. Poems like *Pretty Girl* and *Behind the girl* made me think of myself and all other girls and women who feel as if they have been pretending for too long and how they transform themselves from a weak and dependent creatures to a strong and independent human beings.

Oh, and *Six Feet Under* put me under a spell. It is so beautiful. It is what you call *Wretched and Divine*. Perfectly put words and places. Bravo.

Poems like *Since I’ve felt you* and *Have his way with me* were lovely. As in. wow. Loved them.

I adored how Angel described dreams and passion alongside the restrictions and the fear we have of new things. Some of the many poems aiming the clouds were *Life after*, *White Dove*, *Fenced In Woman*.

Poems in this book have this strong aroma of Romance and Its power. Perhaps the thing that is most disturbing and pleasurable is the way she has portrayed violent and submissive love with colors that represent pure innocence coming out of its shell. Some of them are *Mark of the dark*, *Strong Whiskey*, and *Untamed Melodies*.

*Letter to an unknown Soldier* was outstanding. I want to write something like this. It came straight from the heart and you can’t fake this beauty and heartwarming letter.

*All hands on deck* was such a delightful treat between all poems.

I loved this whole book and trust me when I say, If this book was of Gold, it’ll deserve it.

Well done Angel. Congratulations!

Happy Reading!

Wow, is all I can say. Angel Chadwick has sent me on an emotional roller-coaster. I've always been a fan of poetry, but it's been a while since I've read any. Let alone a whole book. These heart-wrenching pieces brought me back to a place of heart-ache and ups and downs in my past relationships. Mrs. Chadwick really bared her soul with this book of poems. I absolutely recommend this book. The flow is amazing and her honesty is refreshing.

My first impression of Angel’s work was like diving in darkness. These poems are hard and dark; full of pain, despair, self-hatred and a disturbing feeling of punishment. They trigger something painful, like a neglected wound, and take you down in a deep tunnel with no light at its end.

But when you feel suffocating in the darkest depth, suddenly hope appears before you like a beacon. It comes in the form of a child and the archetype of sacred motherhood. As if the entire odyssey of suffering meant to be, only to lead you here, at this exalting moment.
And along with hope, comes power. Deep, primal, feminine power.

This collection of poems is like the catharsis of an ancient Greek tragedy. You pass through the trials of God to purify yourself and ultimately find grace and redemption.
It is a path to discover the hidden strength within and pull it forth. It reminded me the old Chinese proverb: “Hurt me more – I can stand it. I won’t die that easily. I will fight.”

Angel’s language is bare but powerful. Raw like a sore wound and clear like crystal. Without pretensions or beautifications. It doesn’t need them.

I’m grateful I had the chance to read this book and feel its soul. It made me glimpse into mine.

I received a copy of this book from the author for reviewing.
It was the first collection of poems that I read. It kept me company on my way to work every morning and left me thinking for the rest of the day, because every day I found at least one poem that was thought-provoking and that I could relate to. It's fascinating to get a glimpse of someone else's life, especially, in this poetic form. I'm absolutely sure that everyone will find there something they experienced, too, and feel the connection with the author deep inside. What's even more important to me is that I found a lot of wisdom in this book, and I hope at the right moment I'll remember what I learned from it. Thank you, Angel, for sharing all this with us)

I enjoy poetry as much as anyone who had to take it in high school. But I've never read an entire book of poetry. Reading Chadwick's poems put me in the mindset of being a voyeur, of sorts. Each poem exuded a level of emotional depth that, when read collectively, was difficult to absorb. Not difficult in the sense that the poems weren't well written, but the too real acknowledgement that they were a window into the complexity of the author's mind, heart, and soul. I will have to go back and reread some of my favorite poems. I think, reading them as a single unit and not part of a much larger work, I can appreciate the beauty of the individual poems and not feel emotionally drained by the collective work. Amazing work. Reflective and deeply felt.

The book is a collection of poems revealing deep and conflicted feelings. Whose feelings are these? Most probably the author's. The poems reveal anguish at times from being under the control of another. At other times, the poems tells the tale of one being in charge. Either way, the author is unhappy and at the depths of her despair. She wants to die. She wants to live. She wants revenge. She wants sympathy. She wants love. She wants to be left alone. Our minds follow paths such as these; not knowing what we want out of life. Nicely done.

Passionate and intense. Corridors of My Mind is a beautifully written, perhaps a bit dark, read that will stay with you long after you've read it.
Diving into this book, I wasn't sure what I expected, but having my mind tossed upside down into a pit of emotional feels wasn't it. I had a hard time putting it down and recommend this collection of poems to anyone looking for a non-traditional memoir.

I absolutely adored this poetic memoir about certain aspects of Angel Chadwick's life. Some parts were very sad, and I had to take a break. Some parts were funny, sexy, or insightful. I learned that Angel is very strong. She endured and persevered over things no one should have to endure. This is one of the most authentic and beautifully written things I've ever read. If you like poetry, or even if you don't, I'd recommend that you give it a try.

How rare it is to find a poetry anthology with so many gems! "The Apocalypse" and "The Wrong Side of the Bed" in particular touched my soul. The modern style of poetry with sparse rhyme and staccato flow accentuated the emotion and aggression in many of the poems. I truly applaud Angel for creating such a full volume of poetry with so much variety. I will definitely pull this one back up to read again!

‘Corridors of My Mind’ is a collection of short poems that lays open the author’s soul and is an incredibly honest work, one that is powerful and layered (rather than oblique and confusing which a great deal of poetry can often be). Reading the very different poems I imagine the author wrote these as a means of catharsis, exploring the depth of her own mind and heart to find meaning, closure, acceptance or even simply to expel frustration and rage.
I must say I have rarely read a work that drew such a range of emotions from me and elicited so strong a visceral reaction. As with all collections I found some more engaging and moving than others. Some of many, many favourites were Mirror Mirror, Life or Some Facsimile of It, Memories of Ghosts, Scream, All Hands on Deck. War Fever struck me for the sheer disgust with violence whilst Fairy Tales Are for Suckers drips with bitterness.

There were also a number of lines that have stayed with me. An example is from a poem called Hope, “Every wall in my way is not the enemy but a milestone guiding me there through the treacherous archway towards the finish line.” My favourite line though (and I must apologise, I forgot to write down the title when I noted it down) is “he keeps flowing phonetically at the same stagnant speed.” What a brilliant way to show your boredom with someone.

There is also a page titled Angel’s Proverbs that reminded me of Oscar Wilde’s maxims. I have to confess that I wasn’t as impressed by these as I felt some of them were overly long and not as striking as the title suggests. One of the best is “Sometimes, it’s best to send the devil back to hell with a silent response” and I felt all ten maxims would have benefitted from being as short and pithy as this one.
Overall, Angel M.B.Chadwick’s collection is very accessible and very moving.

I feel anyone would enjoy this one, whether they read poetry or not.

"Should I call it Poetry
Or simply say,
Its the poet's pain
Expressed this way."

Angel MB Chadwick is a poet whose style of writing poetry cannot be categorized. Her poetry is like one of her own poems titled 'Explosive' which is short and powerful. To quote:

"I’m stuck in the beginning trying to be explosive
I’m stuck in the middle trying to be perfect
And in the end I want to be unforgettable."

Her collection of 132 poems has varied themes. They bring out the insecurities of a woman in her many roles, the pain thats ingrained deep in the human heart, the confusion one has in one's mind, empowerment, loneliness, well, I could go on and on.

Sometimes like Emily Dickinson and sometimes like the Romantics, her poetry does reflect the modern woman in all her poetic splendour. There are also a few poems which automatically make you want to hum along like a song, just like a lyrical ballad that needs to be sung to a lonely heart.

Her poems have alliterations, refrains, free verse, rhyme, couplets and loads of metaphors and similies. A hardcore poetry enthusiast will find the usage of many of the poetic tools. It is truly a value addition to modern poetry.

To sum up, it is a must-read for all fans of poetry.

P.S- My personal favourite is definitely 'Explosive', but choosing just one amongst many gems is truly difficult.

This is the first poetry collection I’ve read. It is also the first of Angel Chadwick’s work I’ve sampled. To say that I was thoroughly impressed is an understatement.
Because this book is so different from the ones I usually review, I decided to forgo my regular format and simply tell you what I thought.
This collection consists of 132 beautifully worded poems. Some are haunting, some are humorous. Some broke my heart while others made me blush. I am not a poetry connoisseur, so I was surprised how much I enjoyed this collection. I found the writing to be superb, the words on the page like sparkling gems demanding attention. Some of the poems I read again and again, turning their meaning around in my mind and wondering what lay behind them. My favourite is most definitely ‘Let me be’. Here’s a short extract.

Let me feel the touch of your voice
The lingering softness of your mouth
Let me see your soulful eyes and the desire in them
Let me feel your embrace; the depth of its warmth

This book is simply beautiful and will remain on my ‘best reads’ list for some time.

My Review
Corridors of my mind is a collection of 132 poems. The poems are predominantly about love, loss, hatred, pain, dejection etc. Poetess clearly laments domestic violence and treachery in relations. The deep felt emotions are conveyed well with the readers. We will feel a deep pain in our heart while we put down our book. It is highly unfortunate that a girl of this level of talent had to suffer so much in her life. Some of the poems lingers to the reader even hours after completing the book. There are a few poems with a lighter mood like Into the pink veil and Dear Sweet tooth. She has also written two songs. They are well written written and grabs the beat. Overall the books are well written with highly emotional tone.
A poem being subjective is understandable but when almost 75% of the book becomes subjective, it becomes monotonous. I got a scanned copy of the book. Hence it was difficult to assess the other details.

The poems that stole my heart
1. Kiss me tomorrow when I'm dead
2. Devout
3. Nature
4. When the Kingdom fell
5. Martyr
6. The Quest
7. Letter to the unknown soldier
8. Angel's Proverb
"If you live on regrets, you will be living a parasitic life" A quote from Angel's proverb

One Liner
An emotional override.

I was given a copy of this novel in return for an honest review

I like poetry and I write poetry, so reading Corridors in My Mind was a simple task, though writing the actual review was difficult.

I had mixed feelings about this collection of poetry. First off it was way too long and it needs a better cover, something that gives you a hint at the depth of emotion awaiting you in the pages of this book.

Many of the poems in this collection were quite dark, almost all of them, this novel could have done with a bit of light hardheartedness thrown in here or there.

My favorite poem was Changing Beauty, it really spoke to me. Here's an example of why:
Nails like barbed wire
A dry wit like a can opener.

Many of the poems were quite brilliantly written and touching, while others felt like a one trick pony.

I wonder over how many years these poems were written? Some read like very juvenile emo high school poetry while others are good and poignant.

I am happy I got the chance to read this, it gives insight into the author's life. I just hope her life is happier than the poems make it out to be.

Corridors of my Mind was quite the interesting read. The poems have a flowing, almost lyrical quality to them, and there’s a clear progression through emotional states and life events that intrigued me. When I read that this was going to be a poetic memoir, I have to admit the idea seemed a little strange, but Ms. Chadwick does an amazing job of staying away from the explicit “here’s what happened, let me force it into meter” formula I was expecting. Instead, this book is full of poems that would work on their own, and the story is told almost as much through organization and emotion as anything else. I would recommend this to poetry lovers, or anyone looking for a non-traditional memoir. Well done!

I’m not a huge fan of poetry—or at least I wasn't until I read this book. I downloaded a free sample and only read three lines before deciding to purchase it. I was familiar with confusing poetry I had to analyze in school so I was pleasantly surprised from the beginning. The author’s style of writing is flowing and effortless, giving the reader something they can truly understand and even relate to. At times it felt as if I was reading lyrics to songs—beautiful yet often sad songs. Each poem was thought-provoking and powerful, leaving their imprint on my mind long after I was finished. I would recommend this not just to poetry fans, but to someone who is looking for something profound and compelling to read.

I don't usually read poetry but I was asked to read this book by the Author and I'm really glad I did.
I found some of the poems to be troubling, while others were uplifting. I felt compassion for the Author and often wondered what kind of "hurt" she must have lived through, to be able to write with such conviction. Her book of lyrical poems is a must read and I would recommend this book to all.

24-Passage, 31-Glad, 40-Phased out, 70-Michael, 77-The pieces of you, and 94-Beautifully

These poems will open your eyes and have your heart break. Mrs. Chadwick does a beautiful job in "Corridors of My Mind" and I wish her all the best in her future endeavors.

There is no doubt this is an incredibly piece.

While poetry is certainly not my cup of tea, I couldn’t stop reading. Raw, yet beautifully created with powerful emotions, I was surprised at just how easy this poetry flowed. I didn’t have to fight the words or wonder what was happening. I just kept reading and reading and reading.

For me, Ms Chadwick has managed to execute the impossible; she has written a very powerful memoir, in poetry, with a full range of emotions, and crafted them all in a way which makes reading this an incredible experience.

I would recommend this book to all.

Corridors of My Mind by Angel Chadwick

I received a copy of this poetry book to review

Let me just say that Angel's poetry makes me want to read more of it. The emotion throughout it is incredible. Hurt me was my absolute favourite. I could hear Sia’s ‘straight for the knife’ playing in my head when I read it. All of her work created a graphic visual or emotional response in me. Other favourites of mine were 'Knight of nirvana', 'Letter of the unknown soldier' and I enjoyed 'Forever and a day' because it was a refreshing change from the darker emotion which tended to dominate.

Recommended!

Corridors of the Mind, by Angel M.B. Chadwick was a deep and haunting, yet poetically beautiful group of poems that flowed together quite nicely to tell a story of unrequitted love and angst. The author truly bears her soul in each and every passage, as in one of her poems called "Passage" she even states: "I accept the darkness as my mentor, my captor, without its rapture I can't be a writer." And a writer she truly is! Whether or not you are a fan of poetry, Corridors of the Mind is definitely worth a read. Maybe even two. 4 1/2 stars.

Corridors of My Mind is an intriguing title and when you begin the journey of reading it, the corridors of loss, abuse, heartache, inspiration and hope within the author's mind are beautifully expressed via lyrical poetry. It's a rollercoaster of a ride through raw emotions and I applaud Angel Chadwick's courage in writing about heartbreaking issues. Within the mix though, moments of sheer warmth and even laughter - like a poem written to her 'sweet tooth' - shine brightly. This book is an eye-opening, startling and inspirational poetic piece of art.

The title is the first thing that grabbed me about this book. I think it's perfect and really lets the reader into the deep passages of the author's mind. "Corridors of my Mind" is very emotional and open. Some of the poems got me thinking about my own life and experiences and left me with lots of questions.

I'm not a big fan of poetry, but I'm glad I was offered the chance to read this book. At times I was confused, but the smooth flow of words kept me compelled from the start as the author took me through the ups and downs of her life.
