A niave young woman tries to find her missing sister, In a rambunctious San Francisco, however, her sheltered life in Boston really didn't equip her for what she encounters. Luckily, Dutch, a local business man, had encountered her on her arrival, and her first mishap. As fate would have it, he became the hero of the hour, that would both aid and rescue her.
#2 Second Chance
This is set when female professors were almost unheard of, so for our main character to be mere months away from achieving her doctorate, says a lot for fortitude and ambitious attitude. Yes, having a Sergeant Major as a brother, may have contributed to her 'take no prisoners' approach. So, to be asked as a translator to a visitor to a Tobacco Conference, held by the University, was part of her under graduate job situation. However, she wasn't prepared for what was to be the outcome to this assignment.
#3 Brianna
Sent away at the age of 9 to France, for education, Rhianna could not understand her parents neglect of her. No visits or very little communication, caused her best friend's family to take her in and treat her as one of their own. Then, a rider arrives, and her world is never the same. Yeah, intriguing and interesting, with drama and intrigue. An excellent read!
#4 Kate's Hero
They encountered each other on a day London was being bombarded by Hitler's bombs. He, in fact, saved her, but could not linger, as duty called. Then, they end up supervising children transferred from London to an area around his country home. However, they were now two different people, the war and life having caused trauma in both of them. This is a book of healing and forgiveness, of learning to forget the problems of the past, and look forward to the future. Definitely, a great story!!
#5 The Heart You Own
We're on a ranch in the New Mexico region, circa 1898. The ranch owner has agreed to go into partnership with a Scottish Lord. However, the two men haven't as yet met, and the owner's daughter is just finding out about the new arrangements, and is not at all happy. Yeah, it's laid the situation out clearly in the first chapter. I won't spoil your reading pleasure any further, other to say it's interesting, although in some cases a little foreseeable. I love the two main characters, definitely chemistry coming off the pages.
#6 Melinda Heads West She was on a trip to recover a deed, for mother. She was the only one that could go, although traveling alone was not the done thing! However, there was little choice, so her mother relented and off she went. Okay, if I tell you more, I will corrupt a very good story.
#7 Charming the Chieftain
Her father had traded her hand ,to enable him to keep his lifestyle. However, her bethrothed was a man than relished inflicting pain on another. So, she ran, luckily into the arms of the one sent to recover her and bring her to her aunt in Scotland. After her life up until then, it was hard to trust the warrior that was bent on evading the English, without a care to her needs. Okay, perhaps TMI, but this really is just the start of this tale. It's worth reading the author's rendition, to get the true picture.
#8 Through Gypsy Eyes
He was appointed by the king to put her late father's affairs in order and see that she wed, and happy. However, because of lack of information, he started on the back foot, and found it hard to gain his balance with her. She on the hand found it extremely hard to know who to trust, especially when he proved things were not what she believed. It's a dramatic and suspense filled tale, one that has a number of twists and turns. However, it is definitely a very good read.
#9 Nightingale
A Cinderella story, in some respects, having a scullery maid become an important person in a Regency age tale. Yes, a story with drama, intrigue and two characters that just bounce off each other. Yeah, if I could give more stars for this one, I would!
#10 Beyond Innocence
A book detailing the treatment of woman and in particular the transportation of convicted woman to Sydney Town, and what then could happen to them. Yes, it follows the plight of one young woman, brought up in gentle society, being thrown to the wolves, so to speak, by a malicious and greedy uncle. Yes, a magnificent tale, with drama, romance and a creative historical aspect.
I really enjoyed this set of 10 Historical Romances. It was a nice variety of Historical times and places. Also this introduced a lot of new authors for me. It had medevial to Scottish, from English victorian to the wild west. Altogether, I was very pleased with this set.
