Here it was, the sinister black bird from her nightmares... Osugo is suspicious when the foreigners invite her and her father and Poq, the young hunter she is soon to marry, to come on board their ship, but she cannot refuse. Before anyone realizes what is happening, Osuqo's father has been murdered, and she and Poq are taken from their country and their people. IN Norway, Christine is ordered to guard the two "saavages" brought back from the expedition to Greeland. At first she resents her task. But as Christine watches everyone else treat Osuqo and Poq like animals, she realizes that they are as human as she is and in need of her help.
