Deep in debt and stalked by a deadly conman, Jane Connolly needs a job and a safe place to stay. With no one to turn to in an unfamiliar city, she can't refuse the kindness of a magnetic stranger.
A former mixed martial arts fighter, billionaire Iain Pryce couldn't walk away from a small town girl in a big city, especially when it's obvious she's in trouble. But her sweet spirit threatens the single principle he's been living under for the past thirteen years: don't lose control...
Bilingual former management consultant Nadia Lee has lived in four different countries and enjoyed many adventures and excellent food around the globe. In the last eight years, she has kissed stingrays, got bitten by a shark, and petted tigers.
She shares an apartment overlooking a river and palm trees in Japan with her husband, winter white hamsters and an ever-widening pile of books. When she's not writing, she can be found digging through old Asian historical texts or planning another trip.
The Billionaire's Inconvenient Obsession wasn't my favorite book so far. Mainly because the MC's just annoyed me throughout the entire book. Heck, even some side characters.
I honestly wanted to like Jane but ugh, I just couldn't. She was naïve and then stubborn on top of that. Just wasn't a great mix for me. Then there's Iain and he wasn't that much better. Luckily for me, things started to get better and by that, I mean it was getting closer to the end. I wished I liked it more than I did.. maybe next time around?
This book makes no sense. I picked it up because people were saying its a good poor h type story 😬😬😬😐🙄
She's fucking dumb enough to sign away her family's land to some scammer who is stalking her and asking for money.
She's trying to get a job as a cook at a restaurant. She's desperate and living out her car. When they ask her if she's ever been a cook, she tells them no so they say she can waitress and ahe goes "I DON'T WANT TO WAITRESS" da fucky?! Do fuxky fuck? You are desperate and starving but when they offer you a job, that's what you say?!!!!! Lololololololololol day fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccck is this doodoo? what a dumb azz ho 😂😂😂🤦🤦🤦
she's homeless and poor and also very stupid. Add that to the list okur?
Some rich guy sees her in dc and in has no battery on his phone OR GPS in the car so he picks her up and takes her to mclean.
First of all....people in McLean don't just invite people off the street to sleep in their house and raid their fridge at 2 am. Most of those McLean houses have gates 😂😂😂😬 especially that one thats replicated to look like the white house 😂😂😂 she cooks food for them in the morning and he offers to take her on his private plane to LA, gets her a job with his younger brother and lets her sleep in his house?! What the fuxk......
And he's constantly talking about finding his chi. Boy, if you can't find that chi, I know I don't want any of what this book be offering you know what I'm sayinnnnnnnn?! 😂😂😂😂✌
Dnf this bullsheeeeeeeet. Gawd who likes this shit? It makes no fucking sense. None. Whatsofuckingever!!!!!!
Deep.sigh. gotta find my fucking chi fucking zen now
The usual rags to riches predictable story. He's a likable ass, she's a nice girl down on her luck. As soon as he bought her new clothes (but she held onto the old ones), I knew there would be some drama, she would leave, take her old stuff (leaving all the new) blah, blah, blah. Been there, read that.
The Pryce family is continuing its quest to make me sad. Honestly, why do I torture myself? Each of the Pryce siblings coped with their crappy home life in a different way. Max, the H in the first book has a long string of girlfriends, but he always gets bored by the three month mark. Iain, the H in this story, also has a long string of exes, but doesn't care enough about any of them to make a relationship last. He detaches himself emotionally from life in general. If he doesn't care, he doesn't ever lose it and hurt someone. I don't mind this cliche, but the development of the relationship is lacking in this story. Again. Plus the disparity between the h and H's socioeconomic class isn't really explored enough. I've always found the My Fair Lady situation very uncomfortable and not romantic at all. The crisis of this story seemed very minor, too. All in all, this wasn't as good as the first book.
What I liked: 1) The dual povs. 2) No ow/om drama. 3) The epilogue. I'd like to see what happens next. 4) The very engaging writing. This is an NA romance that's not sappy. It dealt with emotions without being cheesy. Yay!
What I didn't like: 1) Not enough development of the relationship b/w the MCs. 2) For someone who's invested in restaurants, Iain doesn't really seem to know what goes on with hiring people. 3) The h is a runner. Boo...
We say hello again the dysfunctional Pryce Family. We first met them as side line characters in the Billionaires in Love series and the Mark Pryce starred in the first book in this series. You don't need to have read the previous books to enjoy this one, it is standalone, but as I enjoyed the others I of course recommend you give them a try.
Anyway, I said dysfunctional and I meant it. The disrespect of monogamy shown by the Pryce siblings parents has warped their view of relationships. Their father is notorious for his many and frequent affairs, he makes no secret of it and the pre-nup his wife signed leaves her stranded if she leaves him or if she cheats. Maybe in retaliation or maybe from loneliness, she does have affairs but she believes no one is aware of hers. As you might have guessed, their now grown up children think love is a fantasy, that like father like son they are destined to be cheaters. The aren't looking for permanence, just fun.
Iain has backed away from life in general and is living in a self-contained bubble after he ceased his MMA career years earlier due to a public brawl. He needs his controlled environment to help maintain his zen (mediation is the answer to everything apparently). Along comes Jane and is a threat to all things calm but he can't leave her stranded, he sees something in her of his old self and feels the need to help. He helps her get a job, takes her in and in turn she shakes up his sedate and calm life.
We get to see the cool, calm and composed Iain start to bubble, boil and then explode as his serenity is destroyed by Jane as she dodges the attention of a conman and tries to decide if the course in life she has chosen is really what she wants or is what she thinks she should want.
Another great book by Nadia Lee. I really enjoy her style of writing, the strong characters all of which have their little nuances and their stories to tell. We are left at the end happy for Iain and Jane but shocked as we are told of unexpected events between the Pryce parents, can't wait to see what unfolds next.
OMG It's not and apple, cherry or something alike !!! Lol
I really liked this story, but I like even more how clear Jane understood Iain or maybe it just was that regular people didn't want to pay attention to him. It was funny that Iain thought that he was so in control, when in real life he was just hiding himself.
On the other hand Jane is a pretty stubborn woman but also so naive. She's the perfect example of what not to do if you want to keep your life in order. You cannot just listen to your “heart” because your brain must function along with it. But that's easier to say than to do they say.
Iain’s mother was so different with Jane than with hilary (from the previous book)... all that because Iain's relationship with her mother was so shitty. It must have been awful for her not to be able to talk freely to his son, because he blamed her for the bad marriage that she had.... I believe that when your parents have trouble it's better to stay out of it, even when it involves you and creates some serious sh** for you.
Money can't buy happiness... it just creates an illusion.
The Billionaire's Holiday Obsession (The Pryce Family Book 2) is an entertaining take on the Sabrina story. Even the main character, Jane Connolly reminds us of this when she thinks, “It was such a cliché—a poor girl falling for a gorgeous rich guy.” I really liked that the author was letting us know this was no surprise but her plan all along. There are many other family conflicts and issues going on in this novel. They all served to keep me reading late into the night.
This is a well-written story. Though some events seem implausible, I found it quite interesting. Along with some fascinating turn of events, there are characters to like, some to love and even a few to hate a little so that it never becomes boring. Iain Pryce, much as he rebels against the idea, is a tarnished knight who rides up in his Maserati to save Jane. Yes, I think it was very dangerous to get in the car with him, but still believe that there are still good Samaritans in this world. Such is the beginning of their bumpy unusual journey.
I like reluctant heroes and Iain makes a fine one. I don’t care for damsels in distress who need someone to always save them. Jane does just fine by finding her own way in the end, which makes this story a true winner in my eyes. My only concern is the stalker happening, is that conflict really over? I needed more closure on that. Also, I can’t wait for Dane to get his story, surely there is some redeeming quality in him to prove he is a different man from his father. I know his story is not next, but hope that there is one for him.
If you enjoy Bella Andre’s Sullivan series, you will love Nadia Lee. The Pryce family is plenty flawed but I find them to be entertaining nonetheless.
Isn't just quite the inconvenient to fall in love. Especially after growing up in the dysfunctional Pryce family household. The Pryce family continues their story of Love in the second book. I fell in love with Iain and Jane. I loved Jane from the first moment I met her, strong willed, and stubborn and knocks Iain off balance. His equilibrium in life gets turned upside down when he meets her. It was actually pretty nice to see how they fall in love. The dynamic between him and his mother also made me fall even more in love with this guy, without giving too much away, I loved seeing the book from that aspect as well, I felt as though when given a look at that part you just can't help but fall in love with this family and their dysfunctional love for each other.
While there was real emotion and dialogue in this novel, there was entirely too much graphic sex and not enough normal time spent together for this romance to be believable. the plot was predictable, and though the characters were sympathetic, the novel had just too much fluff to make me want to keep reading this series. we get no new information or development in Mark and Hilary's relationship from Book #1, which is a major disappointment. the beauty of having a large cast of characters is that you can continue previous stories and begin new ones for later, thus building longevity and credibility in the relationships. a missed opportunity here, if i've ever seen one.
There's a distinctive Cinderella inspiration to that story, which is not my favorite trope. I feared that the former MMA champion would be too brainless to be attractive to me, but I must confess he had much more in his favor that I expected and I really liked discovering his many layers. An enjoyable read, not as good as the Hearts on Line series though, IMHO.
Another wonderful story by Nadia....love indeed does not discriminate, whether rich or poor, black or white....this ones so endearing just like the other billionaire stories.
Cute but forgettable and Pretty Woman unbelievable
I would love to have a life handed to me. My dream job found and given to me. I work on an assembly line; I've been a dishwasher, janitor, and csr. Every job is hard, and the world doesn't work like it does in this story--at least for a working class slub like Jane. She's an idiot and complete Mary Sue, yet everyone loves her. She never even worked as a waitress before she had jobs handed to her, yet she became a "private chef." You break your back for opportunities, you go to school, and you work even harder to pursue your dreams. People don't hand you anything without justification. The parts where West Virginia is called Virginia by Jane and she never thinks that her ex can track the GPS in her phone are just annoying. The first things the cops do when you say you have a stalker ex: "change your locks, change your phone number, and get a restraining order."
I really enjoyed this book. Jane was out to prove she could make it. She was in a new city, and going to interview after interview being turned away at every turn. She was living in her car and had no money for food. She was also being stalked by a deadly conman who already stole a large sum of money from her. After one interview she was walking back to her car, when she found it vandalized. She screamed breaking down for a second. Billionaire Iain Pryce happen to be driving by. In good conscious he couldn’t just leave Jane there in a bad neighborhood with a broken-down car. He eventually took her to his home in California. She just needed a job. She wanted to be a cook, and his brother just happened to own a restaurant. She was a sweetheart, and just wanted a chance. The job was hard, but she never complained. Throughout the book Iain feel hard for Jane. He swept Jane off her feet. The book also has stalking in it, and a little drama. Over all a very good book.
I really loved Iain and Jane’s story that I read it in one sitting. I was hooked from the very beginning.
Jane is one the run from a crazy psycho and to prove to herself and family she can make it big on her own. She finds herself in a strange city and unfortunate circumstances causes her to cross paths with Iain.
Iain is a former MMA fighter who has changed the way he lives his life to help control himself. He is a person who is very detached from feeling things and shuts people out to protect his carefully constructed routine and life. Jane is an unexpected surprise and he has an obsession to help her get back on her feet even though it is a inconvenience to him.
The more time they spend together the more they understand one another and cannot deny the attraction the have for each other. Their chemistry is off the charts. The are each other other halves that make them perfectly whole.
I loved this book. I could feel Jane's pain and frustration when she saw Gio's handiwork on her car. Iain was driving by because he got lost and heard Jane screaming out her rage and frustration. He thinks he's out off his mind but he stops to help. He feels sorry for Jane and decides to help her out. He offers to pay her debt and buy her a new car but she isn't having it. He then offers her a new start in L. A. and takes her there. He feels responsible for her being in a new town and gets her a job in his brother's restaurant. Things are working out until Christmas time when the shyte hits the fan. Iain said some bad things and Jane left. After some groveling and a run in with Gio, Jane and iain finally find their HEA. It was a great story.
I enjoyed the story. I loved Iain and Jane. Iain had dealt with a lot of serious trauma from a young age because of the sins of his mother and father. Then because of the unhealthy advice given to him by one of these parents and a grandparent, he worked and trained hard to never get emotionally attached to anyone. His life was empty because he felt that feelings caused recklessness. Jane made some unwise decisions because her brothers and father didn't appreciate her. Yet we never got enough of the back story to truly understand how she could get the 50,000 dollars for Gio to steal from her, who was Gio and what was the true nature of her relationship with Gio. Especially since Gio followed her from DC to LA. Yet all in all it was a great read.
Poor Iain. He has suffered at the hands of his parents horrible relationship. Not that this excuses some of the things he has done he he has been internalizing so much and slowly detaching himself from life and people. To ‘maintain control’. His life is sterile until he meets Jane. She is bubbly and happy and full of life despite all the hardships she has and suffered. She turns his life upside down and despite hating how much she has uprooted his existence he can’t picture his life without her in it. Love the transformation to see him go through a s he realizes her meaning to him and all that he has cut off in his life. What and ending.
I enjoyed reading this book so much. A young woman who is destitute meets up with a man who is rich and shut off from his emotions. She slowly falls in love with him and he fights his feelings for her. The journey they go on is rocky, but he slowly learns to open himself up as he learns that love is can be the one thing that saves him from his empty life. Very heartwarming and touching. Excellent characters that will touch your heart as they struggle to learn to live again.
This book has a hot hero with a heart of gold and a feisty heroine who never gives up. There are old scars, family issues and a crazy ex making threats. Jane flips Iain’s world upside down with her cherry personality and love for a simple life. They balance each other out. Kirsten Leigh does an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them with their emotions, attitude and personality. She does more than giving their characters their voices, she falls into the roles and becomes the characters.
Oh my this was my first look into the CRAZIness that is the Pryce family and though there were times I was like umm I'm not sure how seeing your mom cheating and knowing your dad is cheating lead you here or getting into a bar fight made you shut off ALL your emotions was the way to go but oh well lol. I overall enjoyed the storyline and the progression that Iain and Jane had to go through to find their HEA.
The Billionaire's Inconvenient Obsession (The Pryce Family Series Book 2)
The love story of Jane and Iain. Iain Pryce keep himself under right control and keep everyone at arms length. Until he meet Jane. Jane want to be a cook and she left home to make her dream come true. So she gave a so call boyfriend $40,000 and he want other $10,000. So she leave D.C. And go to L.A. with Iain. Can she became the cook she want, can Iain lit someone in and find love?
She is homeless (living in her car) when he meets her. It is very predictable but well executed. I liked that she had a positive attitude ("I'll eventually will be successful if I work hard") and she believed the best of his family despite them acting cold towards her. He had anger issues that he kept in check for most of the book (through meditation). He thought the only way not to feel angry was to not have any feelings.
Jayne and Iian's story was awesome. Once I got the jist of the story I was totally stoked because I Iian could totally take care of Jayne physically. Then as I got deeper into the story I realized how totally closed off he was. The damage that parents can do to their children and how they choose to deal with it was so important in this story. Sigh. . . . . Nothing like a romantic love story.
