The final book in the post-apocalyptic and dystopian young adult/new adult Contributor trilogy.
Disillusioned and angry at the revelation of the Free Thinkers’ secret patron, Dara isn’t sure whether her decision to join them was the right choice. Guilt over Letizia’s loss plagues her, and she feels betrayed by one of the few people in whom she placed her trust.
Adjusting to life outside of the domes hasn’t been easy over the past six months, especially because the Free Thinkers’ progress is so frustratingly slow. Nothing has changed, and she doesn’t know how much longer she can deny her searing need for vengeance, or even whether she should place her faith in the Free Thinkers. The more the truth about both them and the Creators is revealed, the less certain she is that the two are all that different. What if she handed them the incriminating evidence they need to exploit to ensure a future that looks a lot like what the Creators envisioned?
Yet Dara has never been more certain of one thing: the Creators must pay—for what they did to her mother, for what they did to Letizia, and for what they’ve done to humanity.
Nicole has never met a genre she doesn't like. She dabbles in everything from science fiction to contemporary rom-coms to fantasy fiction.
Nicole has previously published under the pen names Elizabeth Darcy and Anne Wentworth, but is no longer using those names.
Nicole has had a lifelong passion for the written word. As a child, one of her most treasured Christmas gifts was an electric typewriter, which enabled her to crank out her stories even more quickly than she could with a pen. Naturally, the personal computer is one of her favorite inventions. When she isn't writing, Nicole can usually be found curled up in a chair, whiling away the hours with a good book.
One of Nicole's other great passions is travel, and she has visited Europe, as well as traveling to many of the fifty states. Her favorite trips include visits to Paris, Maui, and various parts of Belgium. She feels fortunate that she is married to a native Belgian, as it gives her plenty of reasons to visit Europe as often as possible. Also, it gives her an excuse to eat Belgian waffles regularly.
Born and raised in Michigan, Nicole lives there still with her husband and two beautiful children. She thinks Michigan is the greatest state in the country, and Michigan State University is the greatest university in the world.
The final book of the Contributor trilogy begins 6 months after Infiltrator ended, and it did NOT disappoint with it's explosive ending! In a day and age where corporations appear to be gaining more & more control over how things are run, I loved this series even more. The Dara you met in Contributor is DEFINITELY not the Dara we see in Instigator. She's grown and changed so much which has been really exciting to see. I was pleased that a lot of questions I wanted answered were, and many right at the start of the book. Other revelations also begin right away-and continued throughout the book to take us readers through twists and turns that make the book an extremely enjoyable, and at times harrowing, adventure.
I felt that the characters were given more depth, though some of the new characters introduced were hard to remember which had me questioning at times if I should know who certain people were and I found it a bit distracting. Javier was one of my favorites, and Gabrielle Lagunes was one as well-tough and no nonsense. The pacing of this final book was perfect. I'd love a Raj novella, as he's been through so much and it'd be interesting to see how his experience in the Domes played out from his point of view. Especially after all we learn about him.
This book was moving in a way that made me want to stand up and change the world. There were many lines in the book that resonated with me, with the times we live in. For instance, I find this line to be so true:
"Change couldn't happen unless someone, somewhere, found a way to beat back their fear and speak out."
Whenever people sit back and do nothing, complacently going about their own lives, we allow things to happen when we could be making a difference, and that's what I loved most about this series. That all these free thinkers were living the lives they knew & doing what was expected of them until something made them pause & take stock of their lives and realize things weren't right. That they went that extra step and took the gamble in an attempt to change things and make them better is what made me want to stand up and applaud!!
I definitely recommend this book, this series!!
******I opened my email the day after this was released to find that the author, Nicole Ciacchella, had given me a copy as a gift. No strings attached, she didn't even ask me to write a review. That being said, my review has not in any way been affected by her generous gift-only my opinion of her as a person, which was high to begin with*****
What an incredible end to this trilogy! I have enjoyed Dara's story from the beginning but her character really discovers herself in this book. The romance, the characters, and the plot all thicken and the truth of the Creators...well I wouldn't want to give that away.
I love this series and hate to rate it less than a 5. It was pretty slow in the beginning and therefore took me a year to finally actually read it. It was great though I just wish less time was spent in the beginning and more on the world after. It just didn't draw me in quite as much as there other 2 but I still loved it!
Another awesome ride. It really is a must read. The editing is above adequate. Questions unanswered, are now mostly answered. I disappointed to find the wasteland sites not out yet. I also would have loved an epilogue to see where they are at in say 10 years from now.
