My son picked this book out on his own at the book store. He was drawn to the illustrations and I’m happy that there is some diversity in the school setting. After we read this book, I was able to open up my son’s imagination and asked him what would his dog, Nigel, do if he came to school? Would it be like Lucy and run away or would Nigel stay and play? From there he had a pretty detailed version of his own story based on these questions.
