The book I read to research this post was Xero For Dummies which is an excellent book which I read at http://safaribooksonline.com. Xero is a cloud based online accounting software. You have to pay a subscription and it connects to yours and your client's bank accounts. In this way it helps give you peace of mind about payment and sending out invoices. It makes the whole billing process more simple and you can tell quite simply how much you are owed and by whom. This program works in conjunction with skype so you can communicate and process client's requests. It is available in quite a few different countries and corresponding currencies. The currency you pay in must be the currency in that country. This online software is simpler to use than more established accounting software like Sage & MYOB. You can migrate from software such as these and many of these companies have there own cloud version of their software. Accountants tend to specialize in a particular field such as tax accounting or management accounting and this kind of thing is supported by Xero. If you have an account in Britain you are expected to provide a sort code and account number and the specific financial information varies from country to country. The website for Xero is http://xero.com. In addition there are varies add ons for Xero to help you in your work. I think this is an interesting with lots of tutorials in the book about how to use the software. It does seem fairly easy to use and one particularly good feature is it will generate any of a wide range of reports which seem to cover most eventualities. I did really enjoy reading this book and think it deserves a wider readership. I think for most companies it is a godsend.
