First he's going to tame me. Then he's going to share me.
Vikings were nothing more to me than the burly barbarians from my Norse history class... until Professor Sven Hallstrom threw me over his shoulder and carried me off.
Before he even finished taking me captive, the infuriatingly sexy bastard had already gagged and spanked me, then made me come desperately hard for him right there over his knee.
Now, bare, bound, and helplessly on display for Sven and his fellow Sons of Odin, I'm so shamefully wet I can feel it dripping down my thighs as I wait for them to take turns with me.
But these brutes aren't just going to use me as thoroughly as they please.
They're going to make me beg for it first.
Publisher's Her Viking Master is the first book in the Bound for Training series but can be read as a standalone. It includes spankings, sexual scenes, intense and humiliating punishments, and strong D/s themes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.
Emily Tilton, whose books have hit number one on Amazon in six different erotica categories, wishes she could live out her fantasies of submission the way her characters do.
Emily's erotica is a narrative version of her nearly lifelong quest to reconcile her submissive erotic orientation with her ethics. She writes erotic romance, but her books are always frankly and unashamedly about sex, because writing about sex helps her understand that fundamental part of her life better. She hopes maybe it does the same for her readers.
Over the many years since Emily became aware of her sometimes unbearable craving for spanking, ravishment, and all the shameful things that go with it, she has tried to come to terms with that craving in more ways than she can count. The first of the ways was by reading, voraciously, every piece of BDSM erotica she could find.
Eventually, she read "Story of O." As is reflected throughout her work, it changed her life, though the change has been gradual, and continues to this day. The idea that other women might share the lusts she has by turns been ashamed of and defiantly proud of, that a woman like the real Pauline Réage might write so beautifully of those lusts, and work them out so thoroughly and even pitilessly on a character, put Réage's famous pencil in her right hand. Or, to put it in the terms of EXPLORATIONS, which she considers her magnum opus, it put her left hand on the keyboard of her laptop and her right hand in her lap, if you know what she means. Emily started to write spanking stories.
Pointless. One of those stories you are shocked a woman could write. I skimmed all of it. It was not what I thought. I thought it was why-choose romance. It was a whole lot of r*pe in different forms, brain-washing, degradation, humiliation, and severe Stockholm syndrome. There is nothing romantic or interesting about it. On top of that the plot is trash.
She thought Vikings were just something to learn about in history class until her Professor takes her captive and brings her to the Sons of Odin. Fast-paced read with plenty of drama, action and sizzling scenes. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it.
My apologies for how all over the place this review is, but I have so much I need to say.
Unfortunately, I did read all 500 pages of this, which I think makes me qualified to say that I hated it. Even beyond the absolutely appalling things that the main character was subjected to, the plot was simply all over the place and unbelievably convoluted. This was entirely too long, and yet it still felt rushed at some parts. Other parts dragged on forever, the pacing could not figure out what it was trying to be. Even if you’re only in it for the sexy parts, they were god-awful and cringy to read. In addition to every other issue with this, the use of academic wording at various points to lend credence to this felt so juxtaposed that I genuinely started laughing towards the end.
I had to put this down and read multiple other books in between reading a chapter of this here and there because it was so awful to read, and I have read a lot of pretty bad books. Even if a book is objectively not very good, if I have fun, I will still rate at five stars happily. This, though? My god.
Also, I believe this entire book takes place over the course of at absolute maximum two weeks. Somehow the main character is kidnapped and in two days falls for her kidnapper. After falling for her kidnapper, he sent her somewhere else where she is for a couple of days, which is longer than she’s with him. Then she is sent to a third place for another at most two days where she falls in love with her other kidnapper. You’ll be forgiven if you’re confused by this point, I certainly was.
I had to DNF @ pg. 58. I’m okay with dudes sharing a single girl but I did not like how her master also fucked around with the other girls. I get that they are owned by these dudes and are up for grabs but it felt a little too much like cheating for me. I know it’s not because they aren’t in a committed monogamous relationship at all but it just left a bad taste in my mouth tbh. Not a bad book, just not for me.
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Very good (although short - but I can appreciate that) build up and spice was verrrry spicy. Definitely dark spice but that makes it extra yummy sometimes.
This has a unique storyline that had several unexpected situations arise throughout the story. A new romantic relationship for Sven and Mary had a rather usual beginning that eventually developed into a happy ending. The story is well thoughout and well written. There are several secondary characters who added to the story. It’s a story that is worth reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and are voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow, this one kept me up half the night… Mary is an eighteen-year-old Selecta scholarship student in a study abroad program. A poor decision involving her Professor, Sven Hallstrom leads to her capture and training as a submissive bed thrall to be used by the Sons of Odin. Her introduction to the Viking old ways has her questioning everything she thought she knew… I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
This book tries to have a complicated plot with suspense and competing world domination but it is really rather complicated and unbelievable. But the book is hot and that is really the point of Ms. Tilton's books. They are titillating and fun. The Viking thing is really out there but the mild S&M by the barbarian Vikings is steamy.
This was so not for me. Congratulations on finding my ick for me, btw. This has been claimed to be RH, NOPE. The only way it was RH was that there were more than one male character, but not by her choice. This book was more free use. And then he sends her out on a "mission" to use her body to get him information. ICK. DNF at 42%.
What a story. Lots of suspense and angst and tension of the best kind. I think it helped that I was familiar with some of the previous stories and grtoupsor I think I'd have found this more of a struggle to read. But it's panty melting hot.
The book begins without any pretense at even dubious consent. It’s well written and if you’re interested in Norse mythology, the details are there. I just couldn’t get past the lack of female consent and the barely legal age of the girls.
This is erotica, don't pick this up for complex narratives or feminist messaging. Sex is the capital-p Plot, on par with Court of the Vampire Queen in terms of "Oh wow sex solves the problem again? Good job!" which is a fun time if that's what you are looking for (which I was!).
