One contract. Zero boundaries. Endless temptation.
Jace Riley Twist. America’s sweetheart. Platinum-selling pop princess. Loved by everyone… but me. Too polished, too perfect, too fake. So of course, she's the one I’m forced to fake-date after a PR disaster nearly tanks my career. I thought pretending to like her would be the hardest part.Turns out, pretending not to fall for her is the real challenge.
Riley Jace Donovan is the kind of man I’ve been trained to avoid—reckless, cocky, loud. But when my team says jump, I smile and ask how high. So I put on the dress, smile for the cameras, and pretend I don’t want to strangle him every time he smirks. But then I find that behind that arrogant attitude is someone… real. Someone who sees me—not the brand, not the image—just me. And suddenly, what started out as a performance feels a whole lot like the truth.
But when the contract ends and the cameras stop rolling, will what’s real between us be enough—or will we walk away as nothing more than the lie we were paid to sell?

Plan With A Twist is a steamy, enemies-to-lovers, fake dating, slow burn, opposites-attract, grumpy-sunshine, forced-proximity, girl gets her hunk romance. Riley is a pop star princess. Jace is a hunky, grumpy, playboy football player with a PR image he needs to repair. He insults Riley but finds his PR team telling him he needs to fake date her. She is just as reluctant but agrees. The two start snarky but then realize both might be hiding behind their public images. Real feelings grow, but what happens when their time is up? This was a great read with hot chemistry and a happy ending, but it was quite an emotional roller-coaster getting there. I loved it.

Riley is the perfect pop princess that the world loves on the outside but there is so much hidden that the world cannot see, god forbid that they see who she really is, but everything comes to a head when non other than Jace NFL God makes some ill timed comments that go viral about her and she is forced in to a PR nightmare. Suddenly she is pretending that they are a couple and playing a love story for the cameras. Believing that Jace is just a playboy the more time that they spend together Riley is discovering that there is more than meets the eye and also that Jace sees more than she is comfortable, but as things change and feelings change will Jace be the man she thought he was or the man that he is behind the scenes and could what was meant to be nothing be something?
After spending the week listening to Riley Twist thanks to his little sister and her songs playing on repeat in his head, he makes a bad timed joke in the dressing room after a game that before he knows it has gone viral and has become his next PR nightmare one that has left him in hot water with literally everyone. But the best solution is to pretend that they are in love, especially as they have a charity event that they are both committed to. Jace isn’t expecting the time that he is spending with Riley to change his impression of her but soon he realizes that the picture the world sees is not the woman that he is coming to know and fall for, never before has he felt the need to protect anyone the way he does Riley. Could what they are sharing really be something real and could they do what no one would expect and fall in love for real or will the truth ruin what they were building together?
This book really took me by surprise, it was heartfelt and beautiful the way Jace saw beneath her perfect veneer and just wanted to protect her from the hurt that she felt everyday or the way that he made himself vulnerable to her and let her in a way that he never had let anyone before. Riley had me wanting to cry and give her hugs all at the same time. So just in case you didn’t get that I loved this book easily a 5* read.
Kate J. Blake delivers a sizzling, slow-burn fake-dating romance with Plan with a Twist—a story full of biting banter, irresistible chemistry, and just the right amount of emotional depth.
Riley Twist, the flawless pop princess, meets her match in Jace Donovan, the grumpy, no-nonsense bad boy with a PR mess to clean up. Their forced proximity and fake relationship setup may be a trope, but Blake makes it feel fresh, fun, and oh-so-sexy. Watching these two clash—and eventually click—is nothing short of addictive.
Riley’s journey from polished celebrity to vulnerable woman is beautifully written, and Jace’s surprising tenderness behind his gruff exterior makes him a total scene-stealer. Their connection feels authentic, layered with tension, trust, and real stakes.
The twist? It’s not just the contract that complicates things—it’s the unexpected truth of falling for someone when the world expects you to fake it. And when the spotlight fades, you’re left wondering: is love enough?
Perfect for fans of enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, and celebrity romance with heart, Plan with a Twist is the kind of book you finish in one sitting and immediately want to reread.

Jace and Riley. Two people who rock their careers but feel like fakes on the inside. They have personas they present to the public.
When Jaces big mouth gets him into some hot water, no thanks to his past, his coach comes up with a plan. Fake date the sparkly popstar he publicly dissed.
Riley was convinced by her PR team that this would be great for her career for the long term and help the children. So what if she could not stand the tight end? It was temporary.
But spending so much time together allows them each to see a different side of the other. A private more real and vulnerable part. And as these revelations come about, they start to question their feelings. When miscommunications about the past are brought to light there is a shift. But then the unexpected happens and they are shifted back to a negative light.
The way Jace becomes protective of Riley is so cute and sweet. They both encourage each other to be real and true.
It was a super cute read, not too long but not too short. Covers the fake dating trope as well as enemies to lovers.

This was an enemies to lovers, PR enforced fake dating stunt between a football jock and a glittering pop artist after Jace, a football tight end publicly insulted pop princess, Riley. Both MCs PR team convinced them it would be better for their careers if they faked a ‘more than friendship’ for the press in order to not hurt the children’s hospital charity they were supporting. In the beginning it was done grudgingly with insults flying but gradually, they began to see behind the other’s public face to what was hidden and with understanding came the softer feelings.
This was a sweet romance—maybe a little bit of a slow burn but the HEA was definitely worth it with Jace and Riley finally admitting how much they cared for each other. This is an excellent read for those who prefer their HEAs not to be too “pat” and easily won but still sweet and spicy. 4 stars!.

A fake dating, enemies to lovers trope romance that involves a pop idol and a football player! Talk about a perfect combination!
I love Riley & Jace! The character development and their romance was done beautifully. I think the best way to describe them is “don’t judge a book by its cover”. They are two main characters who thought lived a perfect life in their respective occupations only to find out that their lives weren’t as perfect as it seems and the hardship it took for them to get to where they are. I definitely love how their views on each other changes throughout the story.
The writing style was amazing! I can pretty much picture where they are and what they are doing so well because of how descriptive Kate wrote it! Bonus points for short chapters and Dual POVs!

Plan With a Twist had a fun premise and definitely delivered on light, easy-reading vibes, but it ultimately landed right in the middle for me.
I enjoyed the setup—two characters whose carefully crafted plans go completely sideways—and there were moments of genuine charm between the leads. The banter had potential, and certain scenes made me smile. Kate J. Blake’s writing style is smooth and bingeable, which kept me turning the pages.
However, I found myself wishing for a bit more depth. Some plot points felt rushed, and I wanted stronger character development and more emotional payoff. The “twist” was cute, just not quite the jaw-dropper I was hoping for. It’s a good pick for when you want something light, but not one that stuck with me after I finished.
Still, it’s enjoyable enough for fans of low-angst rom-coms who want a quick weekend read
Plan with a Twist by Kate J. Blake is an irresistibly fun, sizzling enemies-to-lovers romcom that had me hooked from the very first page! Jace and Riley’s chemistry practically leaps off the screen—equal parts electric banter and unexpected tenderness. I adored watching their walls come down as their fake relationship spiraled into something heartbreakingly real. Riley’s vulnerability paired with Jace’s hidden depth created a romance that was as emotional as it was spicy. Blake balances humor, heat, and heart so perfectly, I didn’t want it to end. This book is pure romcom gold—fun, flirty, and full of swoon-worthy moments!
This books was fantastic. The writing was superb, really giving the characters depth. You can tell the author must relate to the characters. The writing when it come to panic attacks etc is so absorbing and realistic. I found the relationship between Jace and Riley is funny, sweet and protective but with just enough spice sprinkled in to keep it interesting. I'd say its like 2 🌶 heat.

The chemistry between these two characters is smoking hot and breathtakingly beautiful. I adored getting to know both Jace and Riley as well as seeing their story unfolding throughout the book. I thought both characters to be entertaining, interesting and intriguing at the same time. I also love that they have a happy ending to their story with them being happy together as a couple.

This was such a cute, heart warming book! I love books like these inbetween my dark romances. Light, warm, easy, Chemistry just flows, no unnessasary drama, stars just align. It was a great pick me up. Thank you!
The basic premise of this story is good. The audio is virtual voice, which I’m learning I really dislike 🙃 Two famous people who have preconceived opinions of the other are forced into a fake relationship. The writing is a little awkward, but I like the characters and am rooting for them.
