This is great. I asked my husband multiple times for a ham radio book that would actually teach the material and not just have questions to memorize. Every book I came across was like that. This book actually teaches the material to someone who knows nothing about it. The explanations are straightforward and easy to understand and presented in an orderly method. Each short teaching section is linked at the end to study questions for that material on HamStudy.org.

This book was what I had been asking. No more memorizing random questions that aren't pegged to any actual knowledge. If you get this book and follow up with the study questions you will have both your license and some actual understanding. Recommend!

Really good entry point into Ham radio. It's focused on the test, of course, which is great. And the fact you can read it for free is amazing.
The language/tone is a bit juvenile, but that's likely because they are trying to appeal to a broad range of ages.
They do glaze over certain topics. So I felt like I came away with some questions unanswered about topics they covered. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know whether that was poor coverage of the topic or the authors just trying to keep the content entry/technician level.
Overall, though, I recommend it to anyone looking to get into amateur radio.
