Rate this book
Jennifer St. Giles begins a dazzling new series that takes you into a world of seductive shape shifters and mystical beings, and into the hearts of a band of heroic warriors known as The Shadowmen. . . .

Yesterday, Erin Morgan worked for a pioneering Manhattan medical center. Today, she's on the run, witness to a chilling conspiracy. Fleeing for her life in the Tennessee mountains, she is run off the road by a mysterious beast . . . and things only get stranger when she wakes the next day to find a naked Adonis sprawled on the hood of her car.

For centuries, Jared has been a shape shifter, sworn to protect mortals like Erin. But in saving her, Jared has damned himself, for the poison from his battle wound stirs a terrible blood lust. Determined to protect Erin, Jared stays by her side and discovers a sensual rapture beyond imagining . . . and a love that can change his fate. But can Jared overcome his savage thirst and protect Erin from the beast within?

Blah. This one was rough. I was SO ready for it to be over. Basically, there is nothing compelling about the book. It has some action and thought to its plot but the characters are bland. There is no connection between character and reader. You don't experience things with the characters, you're told about them. The side characters could be interesting but they are too underdeveloped. They were like gnats at a picnic. Many of the sentences were run-ons and didn't make sense. I reread parts and often just gave up and went on.

I didn't like that the heroes are basically angels who can shift into werewolf creatures. And there really wasn't any shifting anyway. The title and such made it sound like it was about shape shifting, wolves etc. It was not. Not even close. I have the next book in the series but I won't even be cracking the cover. It's going back.

How do I even rate this book? It was so bad... it was ridiculous. But it has such a high entertainment value because of that. I literally laughed in disbelief at what i was reading. It was so unrealistic, the writing was ridiculous... it was ludicrous. Not to even mention the cringe-worthy insta-love. I'm just going to give you some quotes, because I don't know what else to say.

He never missed a dawn; it was the only time the sun was worthy enough to behold, when its light was white and unpolluted by the haze of mans waste. [...] But Erin Morgan had robbed him of his usual orgasmic satisfaction

What?

"I'm waiting for you," he said. She Gaped at him. "What?"
He frowned. "Did you not say you were desperate for a shower?"
"Yes, but... men and women don't shower together. Well, I mean they do, but only if they are intimate."
He moved closer to her, and she snapped her gaze from the mirror to his. He slid a finger to her cheek, his touch gentle, hot, and potent enough to send fiery rushes of desire through her.
"We are intimate," he said softly. "If you knew my thoughts, you'd realize that."

Creepy! And then she proceeds to wash him and let him wash her! A man she met under very questionable circumstances a couple of days before.

Oh, and my favourite part was when she showed him how to work the TV and he found porn. That was priceless.

The bad guy was this dude called Dr. Cinatas, which spelled backwards is Satanic and he established a corporation called Sno-Med, which backwards is Demons. And this was actually used as part of the plot. Like, Jared, the creepy shower guy could tell this person was evil because of this. I shit you not. This is the worst writing ever.

Yeah, anyway... I don't know if this was meant to be porn, but it definitely seemed that way to me. Weird, werewolfy, kinda creepy, bad erotica... I just... I don't even know what else to say.

Erin, has been working for a Medical Center, and even though she enjoyed the benefits they had offered, when she realized that her boss was involved in several murders of innocent people, and she a witness, she fled, and is now on the run. Then her car collides with a hideous beast, but she is saved by a wolf. Then the next morning she awakes to find herself still with her car, and sleeping next to a gorgeous but very nude stranger, and this is only the beginning of the wierdness she will experience on this rocky journey with Jared. Jared is one of the Shadowmen who protect the Elan, who are in dangerous from evil creatures...and since he was injured by one of these foul creatures, he can feel the evil infection spreading throughout his body, and the only one who relieves the pain he feels is Erin's touch, but he knows that he is only a danger to her, and must end his life before he ends up killing her....
Touch A Dark Wolf, is the first in the Shadowmen Series, and the first book that I have read from this author. I didn't know from reading the blurb if I would really get into this book...however I really did. Although it was by far from my favorite shape shifter romance...it definitely had the suspense and fast paced action that I thoroughly enjoy in a good romance every now and then. It definitely reeks of enough danger to send one self careening over the edge, Such heart stopping moments up and down throughout the story. I sometimes felt like I was on a rollercoaster with this one....but in a good way. Its been a while since I have read a book with such intense emotion portrayed. I admit I was close to tears toward the end, not really knowing what would happen, but it ended on a happy note and I was fully satisfied! Definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

This book was a fun read.

The hero was yummy and oober alpha. The heroine was caring and nurturing. The idea that there are guardians protecting a special segment of the human population is intriguing. The biggest problem I had with the heroine's character was her motivation. She's on the run for witnessing a murder. She sees something strange. Crashes. Wakes up the next morning with a huge, gorgeous, NAKED man on the hood of her car (Wouldn't we all lke to wake up to that view?!!)

She immediately goes into nurse mode. I get that. The man says/does a few things that strike her as strange and, well, possibly indicating the gorgeous hunk is mentally unstable. After witnessing above-said murder, seeing something strange and crashing, I'd think she'd be dumping gorgeous guy at the nearest hospital/doctor and running for her life. Figuring out how to make sense of the crazy situation she's in and solving the problem.

Though I liked the appearance of a crystal reading psychic/sex psychologist, that seemed a little too convenient to keep said hero/heroinne together...like the cliched storm that comes along, soaks everybody to the skin, forces them to seek shelter, spend time together...you see what I'm talking about (oh, yeah, and that happens in here, too!). All great scenes, and I enjoyed the humor, but things just seemed, well, a little contrived.

Having said that, I love Ms. St Giles' voice, and will pick up another one of her stories and see if a fun read turns into a Wow read!

Addictive

This book wasn't what I expected, but it was very good and very addictive. I like how Jennifer St. Giles incorporated the battle of good vs evil and had wolves.

This is probably a good book but it just didn't click with me. There were too many factions to keep track of.

Not what I expected

Good escape reading, but I was hoping for more substance and less smut. The potential for more depth is there, but I guess that wasn't the goal. I like the premise. I just think it could be more. I don't have plans of buying any others in the series. This one was free.

Beautiful Love Story

Wow I loved Jared and Erin's story... In a world of things are not as it seems and there is always good vs evil, it's amazing to know that even In the fictional world, love does conquer all... I can't wait to continue this series... Wonderfully written, with characters you fall in love with, hoping there is a personal story for them....😘😘😘

This is the first book of Ms. St. Giles that I've read, and it's a great twist on the werewolf story. She's created her own world that has many layers. I immediately went into book two after I finished this one.

I was so lost for the first half of the book I almost put it down. Jared was hot, but that didn't make up for weirdness of what was going on. I finished it but won't be reading the rest of the series.

While I enjoyed the storyline, there was too much "I'm damned" moaning from Jared and disbelief from Erin.

Ok so

At the beginning I felt a little lost, I can't explain why though. As I continued to read though the story unfolded and flowed fantastically. I will be reading more.

Unique spirit world

New twist on defining good and evil, heaven and Hell. But the hero and heroine are very human and wonderfully defined.

Erin is on the run after discovering her job really wasn't what she thought it was , running for her life she has a car accident & wakes up with a very hot , naked man on her bonnet . Jared wakes up to find he's not in the shadows any more & that he's carrying a tsara bite which will either turn him into a blood sucker or force him to end his life . I've got to admit i love Emerald , the crazy sex therapist that knew both Erin & Jared would be turning up in the sacred stones just not a specific timeline , i'm guessing there's a lot more to her than meets the eye . This is just the start of a fantastic story of good versus evil that has plenty of twists & a man ready to sacrifice himself to save the woman he loves , question is can her love also save him , dying to read the next in this series already .

I am sorry to say, I found this a bit boring to read, and I cannot put my finger on the reason why. There are likeable characters, a good plot, what I think is good storytelling - and still, at least in the first half of this book, the story sort of dragged for me. I caught up a bit in the second half.
Apart from that, and some less believable passages (how could Jared NOT know more about human/mortal life if his kind have been watching over the Chosen?), it was quite a nice story to read, and yes, although I expect a bit more boring reading, I would like to get my hand on the sequel to this series.

To be honest, I found it a little confusing in the beginning because there was so much back story going on. But I'm glad I stuck with it. It was a refreshing change from the paranormals I've been reading lately. The reader was really kept guessing as to whether there'd be a HEA at the end or not. That being said, I found the ending a little abrupt. If my Kindle was in better working order I'd go back and read the last chapter again because I think I missed something. But overall, it was a good read.
