Robert Crain’s perfect life is being torn apart... While recuperating at home from a car accident, men in ski masks break into his house and render him unconscious. When he awakens the next morning he is confronted by a nightmarish truth -- that his wife and son are gone. But it doesn’t take long before he learns he’s not dealing with ordinary kidnappers. They aren’t interested in ransom money. No, what they want is unthinkable -- to see Robert fight other strangers to the death… And if he refuses, he will never see his family again. Accompanied by his loyal German shepherd, Robert descends into the darkest journey of his life, awaiting the kidnapper’s next dreaded appointment -- and coming out of it alive. Joined later by his best friend Will, he will stop at nothing to rescue his wife and son who are being held by a haunted psychopath. Robert has always had questions about his family’s past. About a mysterious oblong box he discovered in his grandmother’s attic and his grandfather’s deep fear of what lurked within a mountain glacier. Beginning with a ghost that stalked him in the forest while his was a boy to a violent trip he and Will survived in Mexico, Robert has always believed that some force from the distant past would one day come for him. Heart-pounding and unpredictable, RED MOUNTAIN is a journey between the past and present, and what happens when the two collide.
Red Mountain completely pulled me in from the first page. It’s tense, emotional, and full of sharp twists that hit hard. Yates nails that perfect balance between suspense and heart.
I came across Red Mountain on social media and decided to give it a shot, and wow, I’m glad I did. What starts as a home invasion quickly spirals into a high-stakes, heart-pounding survival story with some seriously dark twists. Robert's journey is intense and unpredictable, and the layered backstory adds a haunting depth to the action. The mix of psychological thriller and eerie mystery kept me turning pages late into the night. Bonus: the German shepherd sidekick is a total legend. If you like your thrillers with a bit of the unexpected, this one’s worth checking out.
I just finished Red Mountain, and honestly, it had me hooked from the first chapter. The tension never lets up from the shocking home invasion to the brutal fights and the eerie secrets tied to Robert’s past. I really felt his desperation and determination to save his family, especially with his loyal dog by his side. The story’s mix of psychological suspense, mystery, and a touch of the supernatural kept me turning pages late into the night. The ending caught me completely off guard. If you enjoy intense thrillers with real emotional depth, this one’s definitely worth reading.
a gripping thriller that masterfully blends horror and suspense. The story follows Robert, a man forced to fight for his family's life against sinister forces. With well-developed characters and unexpected plot twists, this book is a thrilling page-turner. A must-read for fans of thriller and horror novels.
This is a sad story. A man is hurt and recooping at home. He wakes up and his wife and son are gone. Perhaps it is the subject material, but I made myself finish the book. The writing did not seem to flow.
Red Mountain is a gripping, edge of your-seat thriller that pulls you in from the first page. The mix of mystery, suspense, and emotion kept me hooked the whole way through. It’s dark, unpredictable, and full of twists you won’t see coming. Highly recommend
I’m really enjoying Red Mountain! I’m currently on page 25, and it’s already pulling me in with its characters and storytelling. The atmosphere feels so real that it’s easy to picture every scene. I’m completely hooked and can’t wait to see where the story goes next!
Wow this is a gripping and atmospheric thriller that pulls no punches. From the very first page, author Dennis Yates plunges readers into a nightmare scenario: a home invasion, a missing family, and a deadly ultimatum.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I came across Red Mountain on Amazon and am currently reading it already hooked! The suspense, chilling twists, and Robert Crain’s fight to save his family make it impossible to put down.
I’m halfway through Red Mountain and completely hooked, the mix of mystery, horror, and heart-pounding suspense just keeps getting better with every chapter.
this story was a little hard for me to follow but I had to keep reading. I don't usually read this type of book, but it was interesting. It went from current day to 1800's It involved some spirits from long ago and a promise that needed to be full filled It centers on Robert who's family is stolen from their home and Robert is beaten up. He is told not to involve anyone else or his family will be killed. He has to do a series of fights to the death to keep his family alive. I was about halfway through the book before I kind of understood the story. All in all it was a good book and it held my interest. I can also say this is the first male author I have read
Mr Yates did an excellent job of weaving the past and present together. I was drawn in from the first page. Well developed characters. Peggy was a very emotionally strong intelligent woman, which you don't always find in stories of this type. I highly recommend. Looking forward to more by this author.
