It's hot on Wall Street. When Felicity is sent to New York for a year on an exchange with another trader she is looking forward to the challenge of the job. Romance isn't on the agenda. When she meets Jason, her new desk manager, the sparks instantly fly, but the more she finds out about him the more she realizes what a bad boy he is, both at work and at play. Despite that, like a moth to a flame, she can't keep away. Fliss finds heself torn in her love life, her professional integrity at risk and a huge task to help resolve. One which threatens the whole trading desk. Erotic fiction - Adult sexual scenes and language - 18+ advised.
I like to read books with a helluva good story as well as the superheated hot stuff, and that's the kind of thing I like to write.
The story is of utmost importance in my mind. The characters and details fit into that framework. And I take a lot of care over my characters and details.
I'm a self confessed love-a-holic, living in my heated imagination. Not that that's a bad place to be living, but it does make ordinary, day to day life, a little less than exciting at times.
I have to kick myself up the backside now and then and remind myself that books is books and life is life. LOL
I've read hundreds of books in a variety of genres - love, mystery, intrigue - and to be honest, I enjoy a little gruesome horror as well. Shocking, scary, downright gory really gets me going.
I worked in finance until a few years ago, and if you've ever read Hot Options, one of my books, you'll see a real glimpse of the old me in there. All the technical stuff is true to life.
My office is my comfy sofa and my even comfier bed. YES, it really is. I sit on my bed and type like a pro getting up to 5k words out on some days.
Once again, I am in love with Katrina "K.M" Liss. She is an amazing author and has turned out another amazing book.
In this one, Felicity, or Fliss is transferred from her job as a trader in London to the New York office. It is a year-long assignment so that she can learn and grow. She is excited, but nervous. She is especially worried about leaving her family for a place where she knows no one.
When she gets there, she meets Jason, or Jay, who is her desk manager. He is a playboy who is screwing the boss-lady, and several other women. There is an immediate attraction between them, but they both know that any involvement would be a bad idea. She knows it because she thinks he will break her heart. He knows it because the boss said that she would not share him with anyone else at work and he would face the consequences if he did.
That doesn't stop them from getting hot and heavy, though. Things gradually get more and more intense between them until things start to spiral out of control.
There is one particular kind-of side story that touched my heart. Jay's little sister is in the hospital and very ill. The way he deals with her is really sweet and touching. It was a nice touch to the book.
As always, Katrina's book gives me a bit of mixed feelings. But not at all in a bad way. On the one hand, I am jealous of these people for finding their true loves and all ending happily. On the other hand, they always have a lot of hurdles to jump before they get their happily-ever-after, and it kind of gives me hope.
I recommend this and all of Katrina's books, like I always do.
I had a hard time getting through this book. I just didn’t feel a lot of chemistry between the two main characters, Jay and Fliss. It seemed like a lot of it focused on their job, which I really didn’t find to be overly exciting. Reading about workers selling and buying trades for at least 2/3s of the book got old and boring. Fliss was new to town after working in London, so I loved when Jay took her on a tour of the city. There needed to be more of that personal time and less working in the office. Even though Jay had his reasons, I’m still not a fan of cheaters in the professional, business world. I find it unattractive and just led to Jay becoming vulnerable to the point where he needed Fliss to save him. I like businessmen who get to where they are through hard work and determination, building their own empires. I did like how Fliss changed Jay from his playboy ways. The “I love you” phrase was definitely used too soon, though. Highly unbelievable. Other than work life, I just didn’t think we got to know much about the personal life of either character. I also think calling this book part of the erotica genre was a stretch. There was one, maybe two, scenes that would qualify. There were a few scenes that could’ve been turned into steam, but were left as cliffhangers. Overall, if you’re a reader who likes teamwork in the business world with bit of drama and romance, I think you’ll like this!
I got this for free on Amazon for a limited time. It wasn't what I expected, cause I thought this was one of those books that doesn't have a good story and it really did. I don't know anything or understand trading but the simple way it was written helped. The heroine was kickass too, in a way that she didn't give in to lust right away.
The length was just right; there weren't any mind games or back and forth between Jay and Fliss, and I liked how they spent time together before doing some bed sports. I have to say I expected more erotica but some of the scenes were just mentioned in passing. Good story though!
