Summary: This is a great informational text over peacocks. It is easy to read and has great vibrant pictures. It would be best for grades between K-3. I believe the text is too easy and may be boring for children above 3rd grade. I would use this in my classroom when talking about birds. It is also a great book just to keep around the classroom. This is another book I could use for a KWL chart. Students can refer to this book when we begin talking about peacocks and what we want to learn about them. A student that would benefit from it would be a student who loves pictures and is interested in birds, especially peacocks. I believe this book would be better for whole class use because you can talk to the class as a whole about this bird and it can begin some discussion among the students. Some other related books (by the same author) would be: Toucans, Tree Frogs, Wolves, and Owls. There are no multimedia connections.
My 4-year-old and 6-year-old love the My First Animal Library series from Bullfrog Books! The pictures are great. We love the short, fact-filled texts.
