Who is Jake Maddox? Athlete, author, world-traveler–or all three? He has surfed in Hawaii, scuba-dived in Australia, and climbed the mountains of Peru and Alaska. His books range from the most popular team sports to outdoor activities to survival adventures and even to auto racing. His exploits have inspired numerous writers to walk in his footsteps–literally! Each of his stories is stamped with teamwork, fair play, and a strong sense of self-worth and discipline. Always a team-player, Maddox realizes it takes more than one man (or woman) to create a book good enough for a young reader. He hopes the lessons learned on the court, field, or arena and the champion sprinter pace of his books can motivate kids to become better athletes and lifelong readers.

Plot: Robby played football last year and broke his arm. He wants to play this year but is afraid that he will break it again. He is determined to make the football team. Andy renkins is not going to make it easy.

Character Analysis Andy renkins during practice doesn't like Robby and is teasing him about breaking his arm this year. Robby plays nose guard on the line he starts to like playing there. even thou Andy doesn't like Robby he earns his respect because Robby takels a guy for Andy. Be for Andy stepped on Robby's hand during the game and he could int get a good enough snap to the quarterback so they switched him to defense and got a new nose guard and he played deafens half the time then he started playing nose guard.

Theme: The theme of this book is team work because they have to work together so they can win the game. Also more than just that like the championship. they all wanted to but they couldn't if they did int work together and so they worked together to get those wins. So it is about working together as a team and to trust each other in there jobs.

Opinion: I think that team work is every thing. You don't just have one person doing what they are supposed to do but every one needs to and if we don't than then the game is over. Just like real life if you don't work together you can't get anything done. If we do work together then we can do anything we imagine that is why we have the stuff we have know like football

This book follows the storyline of a kid named Robby. After breaking his arm during the first tryouts he went through last season he is determined to make a football team this year. One of the best players, Andy Renkins is not going to make it easy. With that his coach, Coach parker thinks that his team can the championship game so that just make him meaner. This is already giving Robby second thoughts.

I would rate this book a three star because I was into it but the ending does not tell what Robby does after the season. Also it was kind of short needs a bit more detail. Overall this was a really good book and I would love to see another part to this book maybe another season with another twist, who knows.

My students like this series, so I wanted to see what is was like. It's very much like the Christopher books but these actually have a glossary and sport explanation section, which I think is a great idea.
