Mia Kerick is the mother of four exceptional children—one in law school, another at a dance conservatory, a third studying at Mia’s alma mater, Boston College, and her lone son still in high school. She has published more than twenty books of LGBTQ romance when not editing National Honor Society essays, offering opinions on college and law school applications, helping to create dance bios, and reviewing English papers. Her husband of twenty-five years has been told by many that he has the patience of Job, but don’t ask Mia about this, as it is a sensitive subject.

Mia focuses her stories on the emotional growth of troubled young people and their relationships. She has a great affinity for the tortured hero in literature, and as a teen, Mia filled spiral-bound notebooks with tales of tortured heroes and stuffed them under her mattress for safekeeping. This book took a turn from light, romantic comedy to something darker just before the halfway mark.

Bradley is looking for more than a hookup; he's tired of bedding people with whom he feels no emotional connection. Caleb is finally ready to date following the sudden death of his beloved husband a few years back. When Caleb helps Bradley get home after Bradley's truck breaks down, the men are drawn to each other.

Almost immediately, I was put off by two tropes I don't like in my romance novels: grief over the death of a spouse and focus on one of the MCs having sex with other people. Kerick handled the grieving trope well, and the relationship between Bradley and Caleb progressed naturally, but I could have done without the opening scene of Bradley in bed with a woman.

Caleb talked like a pompous self-help book. My entire career has been spent in academia, and I'm yet to meet anyone who talks like Caleb. But he was genuine and brought out the best in Bradley, who didn't think he deserved to be more than somebody's pretty face.

Bradley did a complete 360 after he met Caleb. I'm not sure I believe that he would have changed so much that quickly.

There was also something about the dynamics of Caleb's family that struck me as artificial, although I liked Bradley's mom, sister, and friends.

While I liked the sweetness between the MCs, I wasn't thrilled with the mystery element here. It was almost like two different books. The WHY of the mystery was very obvious, and yet there seemed to be no awareness on Caleb's part that this person could be involved, even after how poorly this person treated Bradley.

I like Kerick's writing. I just didn't click with these MCs and found the "twist" in the book over the top. I would have preferred a straight-up sweet romance without the heavy angst.

This is a prime example of why I don’t DNF. I’ll be straight up and tell you I was not feeling this book early on. Nope. Brad rubbed me the wrong way and I didn't connect with Caleb at first either. It’s tough to move forward when you can’t stand one of the MC’s and could care less about the other.
However, slowly and surely, things turned around and I found myself anxious for the final chapters.

Why did I struggle with the boys initially? To start with Brad is a self-proclaimed asshole. The opening scene is with a woman and he’s desperate to get rid of her or away from her. He sleeps with women and then can’t wait to blow them off. I immediately had a bad taste in my mouth. When he is slinking away from her house (and bed) his truck breaks down and a stranger helps him out. The only word he appears to be able to mutter is ‘shit’ and he nonchalantly shrugs his shoulders to add to the conversation with the good samaritan. Bleh. I have yet to figure out what Caleb saw in Bradley that day, but he apparently saw something I didn’t. He asked him out and Bradley ignores him.

Seriously? How am I supposed to like or respect this jerk? I didn’t.

Brad can’t seem to get the handsome stranger out of his head. He’s the first to admit he is still searching for his path in life and he is attracted to men that are confident, focused and ‘have their shit together’. Caleb seems to fit the bill.

Caleb wasn’t a quick swoon for me either. He’s older and a teacher but his rigid proper personality wasn’t very warm. The dialogue was very stilted. Opposites attract, this I know…but they were soooo different. Caleb does indeed help Brad discover himself and become a better man. I simply did not find it an easy transition to believe in. Caleb was widowed and still struggling with his grief and again…I wasn’t particularly fond of that aspect, but I was fond of how Bradley handled David’s memory.

Then we have the ‘big’ scene midway through. Wow…didn’t see that coming. It completely turned things around. I did like the man that Bradley became and appreciated the significant sacrifices he made for Caleb. The care-taking scenes were tender and heartfelt. But then the other twist with his fellow co-worker did not sit well with me. I think this is part of what hindered my enjoyment; excluding Brad’s mom, the female cast was a bunch of wackododdles. I like strong men and strong women. The mystery aspect was quite…random. Then again, it was all about the impact of random acts.

But….and big but, I was happy with the ending. I have to say, I’m glad I persevered and finished. This wasn’t a favorite and even though it was my first Kerick, I plan on trying another book from her backlog.

There was something about the style here that really distanced me from the characters when I started this book. It took me quite a bit into the read, about the midway point, before I was engaged with the men and their story. I really enjoyed the slow burn of the romance. I like when characters “court” and learn about each other and work to become friends before lovers, this story was a nice example of that. Bradley had a great attitude towards the memory of Caleb’s husband that also impressed me. These two men worked hard for their HEA, but it was definitely a rough road for them to get there.

There was an interesting flip of dynamics between the characters about half way through after Caleb is attacked and Bradley, who was a character that I had lukewarm feelings about, really shone with his actions and how he helped Caleb after the fact. I found the mystery aspect was a bit transparent but it wasn’t really the focus of the story. For me, that was the relationship so it didn’t really bother me that I knew who the bad guys were right away. Oddly though as the read went on I was expecting the events of the attack to be somehow connected to what had happened to Caleb’s husband. I’m glad I was wrong there.

Despite a slow start and characters that were initially tough for me to read this ended up being quite a sweet, if melancholy love story.

I have enjoyed everything I have read by Mia Kerick which is why i didn't hesitate to read this story as soon as it became available. I liked this story very much: we have 30yo Bradley who works as a janitor in a school while puttering with college for the last ten years. Then you have 40yo Caleb. A middle school teacher grieving the loss of his partner of 17 years.

This story was interesting. The relationship is slow burn and hits a nice comfortable lull half way thru the book. Then something happens that messes up the balance in their relationship. However this was necessary for character and relationship development.

The story is told from Bradley POV and I have to say that Bradley's introspection is at times very intellectual (and maybe even pompous) which you wouldn't expect from a janitor but when you consider he has been going to college for the last ten years then maybe is not so out of the blue. Also, I know Caleb is 40 and Bradley is 30 but the way these guys treated each other seems to be a bit "cold or formal" I don't know it lacked warmth or passion I think.

Belens Audio Book Review

This is one of those situations where the story and the narration just don't add up for me. Which is stunning to me as I normally love Iggy Toma's narration. However, this time around I really did not like the voice he used for main character Caleb. To me he sounded like a creepy Hal from 2001: a Space Odyssey. It just...every time he spoke I cringed. It didn't help that every time he opened his mouth he sounds horribly pompous and pretentious.

Examples:
"But I owe you honesty as you've just given me your truth..."
"I too sense that love is blooming right here and right now."
"I love a man in a white t-shirt Bradley, but it is going to have to go as well."
"Your muscles never cease to amaze and arouse me." Caleb smiled as he ran his fingertips across my chest.
"Not so fast Mr. Zelder"..."now you may lie on your stomach on the bed."

stop talking

Story-wise maybe it's that the whole thing is from the POV of Bradley, who is a self-confessed asshole. And boy, is he.

asshole

Bradley is a bit of a dichotomy. On one hand he's commitment phobic but on the other he's tired of bedding women with whom he feels no emotional connection. (And personally, I would have preferred to not read about Bradley’s sexy times with women.) However, once he meets Caleb he makes a remarkable 180 and is ready, after a month together, to completely upend his life for Caleb.

He does step up to the plate, which was nice to listen to, and it's true he does redeem himself by the end of the story, it just was not enough for me to truly like the character. And if I heard one more time that Bradley looked like Bradley Cooper I would have screamed. Seriously.

can't stop talkinggif

So bottom line I like the character of Caleb, even with his poncy talk, but dislike Bradley. Love the narration voice choice for Bradley, even if he starts out as a major (self aware and self-confessed) asshole, but hate the voice of Caleb. I like the romantic aspect, even if it was a bit insta-love, but the "mystery" side of the story was a huge "WTF - how can you not see what's happening here?!" time for me. All of which are personal niggles though.

I regret nothing

I would still recommend it if you are a fan of Kerick or Toma. Maybe you won't have the same issues I did.

Random Acts is a book about the power of love and kindness in the human experience.

Bradley Zelder is a bisexual man, working as an elementary school custodian, when he meets the handsome and very put-together Caleb Jorde. Caleb picks Brad up on the roadside when Brad's truck breaks down and this is the beginning of a tentative and tender romance.

Caleb is a widower. His husband died three years ago in a car wreck and it took him a long time, and a lot of therapy, to recover. Meeting Brad is exciting to him, in a way he hadn't been excited since David died. He decides to pursue Brad--seriously. Caleb's not in for a sex-friend; he's a relationship kind of guy, and Brad is, too. Unfortunately Brad is a very self-conscious person. He's constantly afraid that Caleb will look down on him for his lack of education--especially as Caleb is a teacher and very wealthy.

Through the growth of their relationship, Brad begins to see himself in a new light: that of a determined person--one who continues to study for a new career. One who is tenacious and passionate, mostly because this is how Caleb sees him. Being slightly revered by Caleb (who Brad adores to the point of almost worship) gives Brad a sense of confidence he has never had.

Still, doubts creep in, especially when Brad is belittled by Caleb's co-worker and others at his school. Yet, by making the first tentative steps out of his shell, Brad sets into motion other tiny ripples of change. He helps a young girl find her confidence--who then helps a family heal. Each pingback of change further bolsters Brad's confidence.

The relationship between Brad and Caleb is slow to build. Caleb is reticent to begin a physical relationship as his only previous lover was David, and they spent 17 years together. It is Brad's acknowledgement that he is not a replacement for David, nor does he wish to remove David's memory in any way, which allows Caleb to work through his grief. It seems that all is going to go well with these two, until a Caleb suffers a dramatic setback--of the hate crime variety. Brad is wary, but determined to see Caleb through the worst of his fears--because he developed his own strength from basking in Caleb's affection.

I really relished the way these men came together. They are cautious and kind. They are respectful, and interesting. This is a quiet romance. The passion is muted, to give way to a textured emotional landscape. Brad and his foul-mouthed working-class family are very different to the genteel Jordes, yet, Caleb meshes well--because he wishes to do so. Brad, himself, wants to be a better man, a partner that Caleb can be proud of--and he later realizes that he already WAS that kind of person in Caleb's eyes. The mutual support and affection they experience is truly what any couple (gay or straight) would desire and it's rendered in a way that is at times humorous and horrifying.

Caleb has a lot of injuries to contend with, and not all of them are physical. Brad approaches each uphill battle with compassion and the strength that Caleb lacks. Their growth as a couple is so beautiful. I definitely cheered them on from my side of the screen.

Bradley is super good-looking but has super low self-esteem.
I was what most women referred to as "hot." I had a chiseled masculine face with a hard body to match. Maybe I didn't require anything in the brain department—because I was eye candy.

He has been with loads of women and a few men, but he always feels empty after. Bradley doesn't label himself as straight, gay, bi, top or bottom. The only brand to which he identifies is looser. He uses people for sex, but can't commit to a relationship. Then he berates himself for his behavior. He thinks of himself as dumb and low class so he doesn't talk much. He thinks all people want from him is his body so he throws himself at them. He's really big on mumbling and shoulder shrugging.

Caleb is older and really has his act together. He isn't interested in jumping into bed together. He works to pull Bradley out of his shell, to show him his value as a person.
I knew instinctively that the missing thing with Maddy was not missing with Caleb.

Both Bradley and Caleb go through times of need when the other has to be their rock.

This is a story of true love. Some action, drama, heart ache, sex and other big book items do come into play, but mostly this is a simple story. It's a feelings read—it's touching. I was very drawn in. I consider it great storytelling this day and age to keep a reader so interested in a book without making it overly erotic, tragic, wild etc. I also need to add that it isn't too sappy or corny either. It's just a good read. These are normal attractive men not super heroes, and I love them.

this was such a incredible book. the story is beautiful and sad and wonderful. the romance progresses in real time. We see the characters grow and learn about each other.

Bradley is floundering. Floundering in life, relationships and in self confidence. He doesn’t really know himself well or what he wants. He is down on himself and just wondering where his life will go when he meets Caleb. Caleb who is just starting to take a chance again since his husband Daniel passed away. Caleb is self assured and confident. And Bradley likes him. when around him at first he is flustered. Not sure how to act or what to do. He wants to be what Caleb wants. Little does hie know all Caleb wants is him. Their first date is a disaster. Bradley tries too hard and is wondering why Caleb wants to date him. Caleb has high expectations. Once they talk it out, they decide on a do over and I am glad they did.

As they get to know each other we get to know them. We see Caleb help Bradley gain confidence and pride in himself. Brad starts to care more about his job and people around him. What he does for that little girl will tug at your heartstrings. Bradley learns that a relationship without sex is just as intimate and satisfying as one with because they learn about each other and get close. Bradley sees a soft side to Caleb. Caleb shows Brad that the anticipation of just a kiss is more exciting and intimate than just having sex. When it comes time for sex these two will be aww for you. they are patient with one another and explore each other. We see Brad decide that he doesn’t want this step if it doesn’t mean that him and Caleb are in it for the long haul. A big step from when we first meet him in meaningless sexual relationships.

As they explore their feelings and themselves and get closer, Caleb has a traumatic event happen that shatters his world. He turns timid and loses his way. He starts to withdraw from himself and the world. Bradley never leaves his side. He becomes to Caleb what Caleb was to him. His rock and anchor. His love and kindness brings Caleb around and we see this play out.

A beautifully written story of love and patience. How love builds us up and helps us be strong when it is needed. A exploration of the relationship of Caleb and Bradley and it is a realistically written romance that will have you smile at how they get to know one another and are each others rock and anchors.

Bradley Zelder is a struggling ten year college student working as a janitor at a local school, he doesn't think he or his life will ever amount to much of anything. All that changes one night when his truck dies and a sexy stranger comes to his aid. Caleb is more adjusted in his life, or at least that is how he presents himself. Confident, successful and obviously attracted to Bradley so he asks him out for a beer. Bradley doesn't exactly turn him down, in fact, he doesn't say anything, leaving Caleb confused and feeling rejected. So when Bradley hunts him down to try and take him up on his offer for a beer, Caleb is initially skeptical.

Convincing Caleb he is sincere in his desire to get to know him, Bradley and Caleb finally go out for that beer, and much more as time goes by. But just like with Caleb's Random Act of kindness that brought them into each other's lives, there are vindictive people out there that commit random acts of violence as well. When Caleb is the victim of such an attack he is left injured, withdrawn and paranoid. There are things from his past that he never shared with Bradley that make this act of violence much more prevalent with Caleb's situation. Bradley makes the decision to put his life on hold and take care of Caleb, but will his love be enough to pull Caleb out of the severe depression the accident has left him wallowing in?

What I love about Kerick's writing is the raw reality she always conveys with her stories. Violence, hatred and ignorance are a part of our everyday lives, thankfully a lot of us never have to deal with these forms of hate, but sadly some do. And when you add that onto the shoulders of a man that already suffers with depression and anxiety, it can be crippling. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. For every sour, there is a sweet. Caleb is suffering but Bradley is his silver lining.

There's is a hard fought love story between Bradley's lack of self worth and Caleb's depression, and then the bashing only adds to the severity of it all, but the love and trust they have for one another is what will see them through in the end. Another great, true to life, gritty story from Kerick, a must read!

4.5 star review by Lily

This story touched the core of my being. What was not there to keep me from feeling all emotional? Nothing at all! Mia Kerick’s Bradley Zelder is a young bisexual male, struggling to make something for himself despite feeling totally insecure, deep down. When he meets Caleb by pure chance, a sizzling man who appears to have everything that Bradley thought he did not have, it was only natural that Bradley was drawn to this handsome, educated and elegant widow.

But Bradley and Caleb are more than just lovable handsome males. They are decent, hardworking wounded heroes deep down.

Their story is more than a sensuous contemporary romance. Their story is about coming to terms with violence and prejudice through unconditional love. Their story is about how life can throw something totally unexpected that could shake anyone’s world and how one would deal with it.

Caleb and Bradley’s story is deeply emotional and feels very real so I couldn’t help myself but absorb myself in their world. I felt Bradley’s hurt insecurities as well as his determination. I felt Caleb’s passion and warmth. I ached for their trauma and how they stood together to deal with their traumatic event.

Random Acts is a wonderful story that has a beautiful balance between realism and romanticism. The characters are well established and complement each other as well as the plot. The plot is crafted with research, heart and imagination….it simply flowed all the way through.

One part in the story that I absolutely loved is how Bradley and Caleb met and got to know each other…that part is refreshing, empathic, heart warming as well as utterly romantic. I simply loved the fallibility of these two men.

Bradley Zelder has been floating through life for at least the last ten years. He works as a school custodian and moves from fling to fling without a commitment, feeling nothing towards his bed partners. Sneaking out of his latest tryst’s home, Bradley’s truck breaks down too far away from home for his comfort. After receiving assistance from a man who embodies everything to which Bradley is attracted; Bradley almost lets his rescuer escape because he’s ashamed and intimidated. Plucking up his courage, Bradley finds his mysterious Good Samaritan, Caleb, and steps into uncharted territory. Soon Bradley is flourishing through Caleb’s tenderness and looking at life through fresh eyes. When Caleb is attacked and severely beaten, it is now Bradley’s time to truly embrace the man Caleb believes him to be and save Caleb. Can a random act of violence kill the loving relationship born through a random act of kindness?

RANDOM ACTS is a very touching novel of redemption, survival, and the healing power of love. Bradley is beautifully flawed, not living up to his potential because of past emotional traumas, and while Caleb seems perfect on the outside, he too has his demons. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the author built the romance between Bradley and Caleb, taking things slow, so when there was more intimacy it truly meant something special to them both. RANDOM ACTS will burrow its way into your heart and show how little things can make a big impact on the world and those around you.

I really liked this story. It is cute, romantic and there is a lot of character development. Bradley is unsure of himself and unhappy with his lot in life. When he meets Caleb, he can't understand how someone so confident with his life figured out could even give him a second glance. It is this confidence that has always attracted him, but when tragedy strikes everything is changed. I loved how the dynamic of the characters changes during the story. It was very interesting to see how the characters adjusted to what happened.

The dialogue seemed a little stilted, though. More what I would expect in a historical than in a contemporary. It seemed formal and using words that I did not expect in a casual conversation. Maybe it had to do with the audiobook narration? It didn't completely work for me, because the narrator had such a confident voice for a character without any confidence. It's the kind of narration that works perfectly for characters like Jory in Mary Calmes' 'Matter of Time' series with a very confident character tackling everything that happens calmly. In this case, it made it harder for me to connect with the MCs.

Personally, I think I would have prefered to read the story. But audiobook narrations are very subjective and I love that this story is available for those who don't have the time to read or love to listen to books in audio. The story is great and the characters are likable. :)

Speechless is not a word that I frequently use ... And this book has done that ...

The story is told in a way that it seems Bradley is having a long conversation with you and due to that fact at the end of the book you are his friend and also you became friends with Caleb.

Both Bradley and Caleb deal with different aspects of insecurity and sometimes through the story it makes want to share a hug with them ... Tell them all will get better ...

They also find that a random act can be a good thing but also it can not ... And that is the moment when all makes sense to them.

Even though it is heartbreaking at times they decide to stick together and move forward.

What got them together was a good Random Act !

Ms. Mia shows in this book that she is an extremely talented author and can write ... I am and will continue to be her fan and will keep reading her stories.

This is a different read for me when it comes to Mia Kerick. Instead of a Young Adult book with coming out issues having to be dealt with, we have to men who are out to society. They face their own dramas in life. The romance that developed between them was difficult, but through maturity and perseverance from both meant a lifetime of happiness - not rosy - but real.

What started out as, and what I thought would be your typical love at first sight fairy tale, turned into something so much more profound. What happens when the fairy tale turns into a nightmare? What happens to new love when it's bounds are really tested? I absolutely loved this story and the way the many problems were handled. Not with a shake of the wand, but with patience, love and setbacks that were overcome. Definitely goes on my favorites list.

Another 'must-read' by this intuitive and insightful author. This story shows where the smallest of random acts can lead. It also shows how a strong and sorted person can have weaknesses far beyond their own control. A very mixed bag of emotions come along with this story. Extremely well written and touching.

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

This book has a little bit of everything in it and is almost like two different stories that meet in the middle and give Bradley and Caleb their happy ending.

Bradley is a man with very little self esteem and finds it extremely hard to believe he is worthy of anything good happening in his life. He is a bit of a womaniser but gains no satisfaction in that area of his life either. He jumps from one bed to another but avoids commitment of any kind.

After another unsatisfying and uncomfortable night spent in his current girlfriends bed he makes a quick escape with the decision already made in his mind that it is time to end things. On his way home his day goes from bad to worse when his truck breaks down in the middle of the road.

His day is about to get better though Caleb stops to help him.

Caleb is everything Bradley would look for in a man if he was actually looking, although he hasn’t been with another man for a long time. He is preppy looking, confident and in Bradleys eyes ‘has his shit together’. Of course Bradley thinks of himself as unworthy of anyone as ‘perfect’ as Caleb and things look a little shaky at the start.
Their first date is a a car crash. Bradley is almost robotic in his conversation, he has studied subjects he assumes Caleb will be interested in, Caleb is not impressed and it is almost over before it even starts. Thank god for ‘do overs’ as the Bradley is much more interesting as himself.

For the first half of the book Caleb works a kind of magic on Bradley and infuses him with confidence. Bradley’s views of himself slowly start changing for the better which helps in all aspects of his life, particularly in his job.

It takes just one night and one incident of brutality to change everything and suddenly the table are turned!

Outward appearances can be deceiving and Bradley learns all too quickly that perhaps Caleb isn’t as put together as he first appeared. Caleb has suffered a lot of sadness in his life, the latest was the death of husband five years ago, and he doesn’t always cope very well. Although this is a new relationship Bradley has to decide whether to stand up and be the man Caleb needs or to turn tail and run as he usually would.

What follows is a transformation for both these men that involves determination and good luck. Bradley has to hope his new found confidence is enough for both of them as he slowly helps Caleb put his life back together and Caleb has to let Bradley see him properly, flaws and all.

If you like a sweet love story between opposites who rescue each other with a little angst thrown in then give this one a try.

RANDOM ACTS is an dramatic tale that focuses on how unpredictable life can be. By contrasting the darkness of violence, hate and loss with the light of selflessness, healing and love, Mia Kerick paints a stunningly honest portrait of humanity.

Each painful development that Bradley and Caleb face forces them to choose if they will give in to the weight of their burdens or find the strength to rise above. While the blessings in life do not always seem to balance the negativity, choosing to focus on the positive, while leaning on those you love in times of trouble, is a lesson we all should learn.

The raw and realistic emotional roller-coaster that Bradley and Caleb ride is both entertaining and thought provoking. This is not a warm and fuzzy romance that I'd be tempted to read more than once, but I was impressed by the balance of humor and love that allowed RANDOM ACTS to deliver its message without being overwhelmingly negative. A well written and developed story line with steady pacing, engaging supporting characters round out this insightful novel.

Caution: Contains adult content, including physical violence/hate crimes, that are not excessively graphic but could be an emotional trigger for some readers.

I am a bit indecisive about how to review this book. I was engaged and the story held my attention, but there was just a few niggles that kept me from falling all the way into it.

Bradley's low self esteem was quite heartbreaking, especially as he had a very warm and supportive family. I struggled a little with Caleb as he sounded like a stuffed shirt at the start and it wasn't till the incident half way through that he started to become a bit more real. What I think started off as a light "opposites" attract romance, turned a little dark after the mid-point and touched on some sensitive wellbeing issues, but handled well and in keeping with the plot.

And I suppose my dilemma focuses on the "random act" itself. I am not even sure how to explain it, but it happened, little tit bits of info sprinkled about and then the break in....arrest....end... at times the writing didn't flow well and the contents of a few of the chapters seemed a little rushed.

I don't like happy for nows.....if there has to be one, then give me an epilogue.....I like a full HEA, call me crazy, but I live in reality, my reading is my escape and I require full make-believes and bibbty boopity boos....

So, overall, I liked the story, but a bit meh about the ending and no epilogue.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I don't really know how to explain it. While overall the story was a slow romance to start, getting to know each other and everything, the light heartedness of the story changed halfway through and while it was still a good story, I didn't like the direction the story took. The mystery part seemed to thrown in to add angst to the story and really wasn't needed. My main issue for me with this story was the way that they talked to each other and detracted from really liking the characters. Sometimes the dialogue just seemed very formal, then more childish that it came across cheesy.

The book was practically all fluff. Nothing much happens, I felt like the protagonists met and it was all rainbows and sunshine until one unfortunate event that takes place close to the end of the book. After that they have a couple of bad weeks, but they get through it pretty quickly.

I'm not saying I didn't like it, I did like it, it was an okay book, but I enjoy my stories with a little more of drama and angst if they are romances.

Here, I was feeling that there wasn't conflict it was all the same throughout the noel until the end, when you have that one conflict.

As I said, it was an ok book but is not my stye. If you enjoy pure fluff you're gonna love it, though.

I loved the goofy romance which began between Brad and Caleb. I read the reviews before starting this book so I was prepared for the "bad thing" to happen at the halfway mark. I thought it worked really well to bring out another side of Brad and Caleb's personalities. I wish they had clued in a little earlier to root of the problem in their lives. I was a little put off when they didn't figure it out on their own, because it was really freaking obvious.

I liked this story very much. It starts of as a easy to read romantic story but in the middle of the story something happens (i won't tell you what because that would be a spoiler) and the story becomes more emotional. The ending was abrupt and i would have loved a epilogue so we would have known what happens in the future.

Overall a very good read.
