She’s rebuilding her life, but danger is closer than she thinks…
Tessa is focused on creating a fresh start for herself and her daughter while also going through a divorce. Love is the last thing on her mind, but fate has other plans. Unbeknownst to her, two men are quietly orbiting her world—one, her best friend’s brother, who has secretly loved her for years; the other, a stalker who feels a deep need to protect her, convinced it’s the only way to keep her safe.
Liam, her best friend’s brother, has been in love with her for as long as he can remember, but he’s always kept his feelings hidden. Now, with the threat of danger looming, he can no longer stay in the background. He’s determined to protect her, even if it means fighting for her heart.
But the danger they don’t see is lurking closer than they think. As her ex’s past catches up with her, Dom watches from the shadows, drawn to her in ways he can’t explain. His painful past keeps him from coming forward, but his obsession with her safety—and his growing feelings—demands he make a choice.
Caught between two men who want to protect and love her, Tessa must navigate a web of secrets, desire, and danger. Will she find the strength to embrace a love that defies the standard society has set, or will the risks she faces tear them all apart?
This is a Dark Romance that left me ✨ Emotionally damaged ✨ in the best way! Check your triggers!
I LOVED all 3 of the POVS we got in this! I love knowing what the characters are thinking and why! This is slow paced in the beginning but picks up more as you read it! The plot drew me and it packs an emotional punch! The spice was a little spicy but nothing to crazy which I appreciate because this was plot heavy in the best way! I also loved that we got to see Chole and Nick from book 1!
Tessa is finally trying to rebuild her life with her daughter after leaving her abusive husband and moving in with her best friend! I adored tess, shes been through so much but is trying to heal and navigate this different chapter of her life! She’s resilient and determined to do whatever it takes to protect Rosa as any mama would!
Dom is the perfect description of touch her & 💀. Being in the Mafia comes with power & control. Having his own tragic past with a certain relationship lead to him becoming obsessed with Tessa and her being protected at all cost & also not to sure on how to handle it. He is the fire that consumes her.
Liam grew up with Tess. The steady presence all her life, the shoulder to lean on, and loving her quietly from a distance while she built a family with someone else that wasnt him. No matter how long it took, he never stopped loving her, or her daughter! He’s the calm and steady safe haven she always needed.
Their isnt NOTHING that Dom or Liam wouldnt do for Tess or Rosa! She never knew love could be like this and they never made her choose. They are complete polar opposite but are EXACTLY what tess needs and they both bring different things to the table! Watching them heal from their own trauma together & find a way to make it work as a family was beautiful and heart warming!!
Cant wait to see what Catherine has in store for the next book!!
Firstly, a huge thankyou to the author Catherine who gave me the honour in reading this beauty in exchange for an honest review.
I loved the characters in this book. I love the development of each character and I lived for the multiple POVs. Dom is everyone’s version of a hot bad ass and Liam is the man Tessa needed from the beginning. The plot in this book was solid and I continued on throughout!
The only negative, I think it could have been less pages. Otherwise, a great read. And I also loved the writing style!
Listen, I have yet to read a book that if some of the MMC's names are Dom and Liam that I didn't love.
Tessa, our FMC is starting over with her daughter Rosa after her husband Jason leaves her.
She moves in with her best friend Remi and it just so happens her brother Liam has been in love with Tessa forever.
Tessa also happens to literally run into this intense man at a coffee shop that we learn to be Dom.
Dom who runs the mafia with his brother Dante is automatically drawn to her.
I loved the multi POV from the three of them. The story flowed so well and it held my attention the entire time.
Watching Tessa grow into herself, while learning that she can rely on Liam and Dom, and grow with them. The fact that both men won't make her choose and do everything they can maturely to make it work.
I also loved seeing them go from what could feel like a competition to becoming family to each other. They also loved Rosa freely and she gained two amazing fathers.
Also, the 🌶 towards the end was 🔥.
I love how we still got to see Chloe from book one.
Also I love Marco that's all.
I'm not going to give too much away but there were moments I had tears, moments I giggled, and thoroughly enjoyed this one!
I can't wait for book 3!

ARC Review of ‘Between Skylines and Shadows’ by Catherine Rayne.
I had the privilege to be a Beta reader for this book a few months ago, and recently got the ARC. It is amazing to read the ‘finished’ version. Still told as multiple POV to really get the feel of the other main characters’ feelings, which ai really liked.
The storyline flows nicely, and has a nice build up. Tessa is trying to move on from a divorce which left her questioning everything in her life. She slowly regains her power. Liam is her brother’s best friend and always stood on the sidelines wanting her happiness, but enough is enough, time to step up. But when Dom enters the scene catching feelings for Tessa, this complicates things even more. This triangle is intruiging, the build up makes you turn the pages. The 🌶️ is well written and they have great chemistry, not in a raunchy way, it still felt very loving and respectful.

I had the delight of arc reading this book. At first I was not sure what was going on as it started with 3 men, Jason, “ex husband” who abused Tessa and abandoned her and their daughter Rosa. Then we have Liam, who Tessa has known for a long time and he has secretly loved her since they were young. AND Dom, Mafia bad ass who Tessa bumps into “literally” at a coffee shop. But it came together quickly and turned into a beautiful novel of love in unconventional ways. I really loved this book and the way it was written with a good plot and great character growth. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
I’m not always the best with describing in detail how books make me feel so bear with me!
Between Skylines and Shadows is a captivating story about how love can find you in the most unexpected ways and places. It’s full of twists, tests of loyalty, even some action! I loved getting to read about how Tessa, Liam, and Dom navigate through their relationship! Catherine Rayne made reading about them effortless and addicting!
Between Skylines and Shadows has some darker themes that some may find triggering, please consider that and check the content warnings for full details before reading!
Where do i even begin to start with this review. So first off, the book dedication by itself had me wanting to continue. It made me feel valid and like I wasn't alone. The love story that is written is one that anyone would want, especially a single mom. Tessa found that love that we all crave. Liam and Dom are complete polar opposites but still being able to complete a family that was broke. Im trying so hard not to leave spoilers, but this book is definitely a must-read. It's slow at first, but you are given information that just further makes the story into what it's meant to be. I can't wait for this book to come out. This will be on my must-have purchase list to add to my growing library. This is my first book by this author, and I tell you what. It definitely won't be my last she knows how to write. Great plot, amazing smut. Just yes all around!
I loved how Catherine has 3 POV so it makes you feel like you’re in the book. Each character has their own trauma that they have to overcome. I loved the complicated relationship between Tessa, Liam, and Dom.
Before diving into the review, I want to extend a big thank you to Catherine Rayne for the opportunity to be an ARC reader! I truly enjoyed this story and feel grateful to have experienced it ahead of its release.
⭐️- 4/5 🌶️ - 2.5/5
While I didn’t give this book a full 5 stars, I genuinely enjoyed it and would absolutely recommend it. It’s a sweet, heartfelt story with a solid plot, well-developed characters, just the right touch of angst and emotional growth, and plenty of tender, memorable moments.
My main critique lies with the smut scenes—they felt a bit rushed and didn’t always capture the depth of passion the characters clearly have for each other. There’s a spark that starts to shine through more toward the end, but I still found myself wanting a bit more intensity and connection in those moments.
The story definitely delivered more than it lacked, but some of the character arcs felt underdeveloped or disconnected. With a bit more expansion and smoother flow between their individual storylines, the overall narrative could’ve felt more complete.
That said, even with these critiques, I would still definitely recommend it. The emotional beats hit well, the characters are lovable, and it’s a story that stays with you in all the right ways.
I have the honor to be a beta reader for this book. It was lovely to see how the book changed as suggestions were made, and the story progressed.
During the first draft, there were a lot of questions, but by the second draft, I was drawn in even more. I love how Catherine gets in the mind of her characters and really expands on their stories.
The 3 POVs really make you feel like you are living the story. Each character has trauma that they have to overcome. But together, they can get through anything! The complicated relationship between Liam, Dom, and Tessa pulls you in and takes you on a journey.
I cannot wait to read the final product and also to see where this series takes us!! Great work, Catherine!
EDIT: I was very pleased with how this book ended up! I liked that there was more spice added. Also, I enjoyed where the story was expanded! I cannot wait until the next book in this series.
Thank you so much for allowing me another advance copy. Here is my honest review!
Rating 3.5/5 Spice 3/5
We follow Tessa on her journey of restarting as a single mom. Her ex Jason is a terrible person haha. Luckily for her she has an amazing friend Remi who helps her start over. Remi’s brother Liam has always been in love with Tessa but was Justin waiting on the sidelines. One day at a coffee shop we meet Dom. Holy smokes. He is everything mafia.
Things I loved about this book : - Tessa is strong and she doesn’t know how strong she truely is. Her growth and development are amazing. - Dom is your full mafia man and I am here for It. - Liam is Tessa’s calm to the storm and a steady presence in her life. - Remi is the ride or die friend and anyone who has one of these is sooo lucky. - I loved all 3 povs - Loved that we got a glimpse back to Chloe and Nick!! Loved there story! - This can be read as a standalone but might miss who Chloe and Nick are. - Good spice, plot, and character development Things I didn’t like: (totally my own opinion) - I felt like Liam’s povs were short and repetitive. I wish I could have seen more and Liam slightly annoyed me in the beginning coming off a little desperate and pining but he grew on me towards the end - I felt this book was a little longer than necessary and did feel some repetition made It that way. I did find myself skimming through some parts.
Overall I did enjoy but It just missed my mark of a higher rating. I am still a huge fan of Catherine and can’t wait to read more from her.
Tessa is trying to get her life back on track after a marriage gone wrong. She’s resilient, yet skittish around men. Above all else, she’s Rosa’s mom and determined to protect her daughter at all costs. Her baby daddy… he’s a piece of poop (keeping it PG 😆). I won’t say much more than: KARMA.
Dom is part of the Mafia. He has his family to care for and protect. He was infatuated with Tessa the moment he saw her, but he was unsure if he wanted more due to his rocky history with relationships. He gives off broody, touch-her-and-die, possessive vibes. Liam is a pilot by trade and her long-time friend. He’s been in love with her and standing on the sidelines. Golden retriever vibes for sure, always offering a shoulder to lean on during tough times.
Both men have nothing but love and adoration for Tessa and Rosa. They’re willing to be there for her no matter what.
This is a slow burn with tons of angst that builds to the final page. I'd say this is on the lighter side of Mafia romance, so if you’re new to the trope, it’s a great way to dip your toes in. I enjoyed the POVs from all three main characters. It gave us insight into each of their feelings and thoughts.
There was a nice balance of drama between them all, and the plot carried well throughout. The spice was present but not the main focus, just the right amount sprinkled between the tension and drama.
Who loves a little mafia romance, with a little why choose sprinkled in there?
Tessa is just out here living with her bestie and her daughter trying to recover from a failed marriage and isn’t even thinking about relationships! She is just trying to move on from her piece of work husband (to keep it nice here) and build a life.
Enter Dom, part of the mafia…. Doesn’t do relationships, loves his family, runs into Tessa and instantly becomes infatuated.
Then you have Liam, who has always been a part of Tessa’s life, whom she has only ever seen as a friend, golden retriever type… he confesses his feelings for Tessa.
Tessa falls for both men and doesn’t want to lose either of them.
This book give you a POV of all three of these characters, which is pretty interesting. Light on the mafia, light on the spice, great read!
Another beautiful story of healing by Catherine Rayne. Tessa shows so much strength as she picks up the pieces after being abandoned by her husband. Struggling to find her new normal while putting her daughter first, Tessa finds herself gaining the affection of two amazing men. Liam is the steady presence she needs. Dom is the protective and safe space for her. Together, they find a way to be a team and support Tessa, never making her feel pressured to choose between them. Suspense, emotional healing and endless amounts of love surrounding Tessa all come together to make up this inspiring story.
Tessa is the FMC, and you will love her. She is relatable, and you can honestly feel for her and her POV.
Liam is one MMC, and he's had that love burning for her forever. I just love Liam.
Dom... he's the spicy MMC, and we all love Dom 😍
I adored how each one evolved with each other. They took her heart and cushioned it, protected it.
Also, the 🔥🔥🔥 towards the end, beautiful.
This was my first book by Catherine Rayne, and I was not disappointed. I loved her style of writing and her attention to detail for these characters ❤️
Sometimes love just makes sense between two men and one woman. After trying to start over after destructive failed marriage Tessa finds herself receiving compassion and support from a long time friend Liam who has yearned after her for years. Then one morning in coffee shop incident fate has landed her in the sights of Dom who falls so hard and fast and is the head of the marfia. This book takes you on many twists and turns this Author makes sure that you are turning pages fast to follow along the storyline. I enjoyed this book and would thoroughly recommend it.
I am sorry As much as I thought I will like the book I did not After almost 300 pages in, I felt myself dragging The best thing I liked was writing, really loved it.
But the dynamics.... The dynamics between the leads was just... I don't know... Weird. Like how they just came to accept it all and I specially found Liam's character very much inconsistent cause what do you mean he first time used a gun and he already mastered it and easily unalived someone? It just didn't felt real for me(even for a book it was very much fictional)
this book was kinda slow and info dumping in the beginning but once it started, i literally could not stop reading it. i love tessa, liam and dom so much so i couldnt choose a favourite out of the three. i loved seeing their character growth and slowly becoming a family. i really loved this book and i definitely recommend.
⤷ thank you to the author for providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. It had mafia, murder, why choose, hot guys and an FMC who was the real power. For my personal tastes, I liked Liam more of the two MMC's. He was more of a cinnamon roll. Dom got things fixed and done, but Liam kept up and even exceeded him sometimes (Chinese food.) Tessa was a lucky lady.
This book was longest book I’ve read but for me it was so worth it. Tessa is A recent single mother of a five-year-old daughter, Rosa, and is questioning but slowly finding herself after her recent divorce. Liam is kind and supportive and is her best friends brother that has been in love with her since forever, loving her in secret. Dom is a badass mafia man that ran into her, literally, on a chance encounter. The character growth individually and together was intriguing & the plot and writing was amazing. But I especially loved how Liam, Dom, and Tessa tried to navigate their relationship, since it’s a little complicated. Loved this book so much!!!
This is the story of Tessa and Liam and Dom. And, well, our little Rosa, a beautiful and sweet little girl, a stellina.
I always love books with multiple points of view. Stories that tell us their stories. And these 3 main characters have a dark and at the same time colorful story to tell us.
This book starts slowly, taking us readers in, and then all of a sudden... it is hot, and spicy, and steamy. And steals our hearts and our souls. And leads us into something special. Because this book is that: special.
Thank you to the author for this ARC.

these are some of my favorite quotes:
It was always her.
I wanted to take her broken pieces and craft them back together.
As I kissed him, the world ceased to exist.
"Tessa’s the only one” I said, my voice breaking.
I touched my cheek where his kiss still lingered. It made my chest tighten in a way I didn’t want to look at too closely. Then I remembered the guy from the club. The feel of his mouth on mine. The way it was full of heat and passion. Where Liam’s touch felt safe and comforting, Dom’s felt all-consuming.
Grief was cruel, arriving uninvited, quiet, and sharp.
“You can’t keep living like you’re waiting for history to repeat itself” “That pain? It changed you. I’m not saying it shouldn’t have. But you can’t let it make your choices for you.”
In my world, you protect what’s yours. And she was mine.
This was just a date. A date with Dominic Moretti, who managed to make me feel things I wasn’t sure I was ready for.
his eyes stayed locked onto mine, making me feel exposed in a way that was both thrilling and terrifying.
The kiss hit me like a rush of fire
I was already lost in him.
“What if you don’t have to choose?”
“I need both. Because I’m both — the woman who craves peace and the one who burns for more.”
“You’re not alone anymore, tesoro. We’re in this with you.”
