Caught Up is a small town new adult romance series. Each of the six books focus on a different couple but has an overlapping storyline with recurring characters. They are best enjoyed in order.
"I took her innocence and walked away. She kept my heart and crushed it. If she thinks we're even, she forgot who she's dealing with...."
Brantley Prescott is damaged. Scarred by a past she can't forget. Hiding secrets she's terrified to share. Searching for a future she doesn't believe she'll ever find.
Myles Franco is alone. Burdened by mistakes he'll never live down. Fostering a deep resentment for the opposite sex. Unleashing his wrath on any girl who gets too close.
Both are content living behind the solid walls they've built around themselves. Neither is prepared for what happens when their lives collide.
Due to sexual content and language - 17+ recommended.

***Spoiler alert***
Let me start by saying that I absolutely loved the first 30-40% of this book. I couldn't believe how great it was and i was head over heals for both Brant and Myles. I mean, how could i not when the first words they ever said to each other were:
"-What the fuck are you doing?" "-Mowing the fucking lawn."
Their bickering was so hilarious and refreshing so i thought i was in for one hell of a ride. Don't believe me? Here's an other example:
"-None of my keys work for the front door!" "-Lou must have forgotten to tell you about the trick to unlocking it (...) It's a little complicated." "-Really? What is it?" "-You stick the key in the whole and turn (...) Think you can handle that? "-Asshole"
and...
"-My aunt wants to know if i'm gonna end up wrapped in plastic and duct tape at the bottom of the lake wearing a pair of cement boots." "-No. It wouldn't make any sense to use plastic and duct tape on a body you are ditching in a lake."
and then 53% had to happen... I swear, from thereon i was pretty sure i wasn't reading the same book!!! It turned into the stupidest, most pointless plot I've ever read!!! OK, I'll try to put my thoughts into order and start from the beginning...
Brantley is a twenty year old girl who was living with her aunt until she decided that it was time to get her own place and live on her own. She found a great apartment which was out of her price range but was in a good neighborhood, so she decided to give it a shot. Then she meets Myles, her hot, grumpy neighbor. I loved their bickering and witty comebacks. They both had severe trust issues and it was obvious from the way they were treating each other.
Brant had some heavy, deep and tragic family issues to deal with and Myle's past negative encounter with a specific girl made him give up hope on the whole female population (which was stupid but understandable). It wasn't long before they formed some kind of friendship which escalated into something more but Myles was scheduled to leave America for a few months for work and he needed to talk to Brant about it. This is where things started to get stupid guys...
So, Myles had 3 days to talk to Brant about it but he couldn't find the right time to do it. Of course he did find the time to fuck her, but there was never a right time to tell the girl he was falling for that he had to leave the country for several months. And what does he do next? He leaves without saying anything at all because he didn't find the right time to tell her! And that's when things began to go downhill for me... Nothing made sense after that. The story did not make sense anymore!!! I mean, i get it, drama and angst make things interesting - especially in NA books - but not random, pointless, meaningless drama and angst!!!
I was tempted to not finish this book so many times but obviously something is seriously wrong with me because i finished it and now here i am writing this colorful review. But hey, there must be a reason why this book has a 4.22 star rating on GR so i won't discourage anyone from reading it (but maybe I've done that already..?). Seriously though, this is just my opinion and the only reason I'm so intense in this review is because i really loved the beginning and i thought it was a book with great potentials.

In a nutshell, this book is a love story between a girl with physical and mental scars, and a boy with a tortured past. It's the story of their love, emotional healing and trials along the way,and Colee Firman manages to deliver it in a way which is heartbreaking, intriguing, emotionally exhausting and amazing.
Both the lead characters had their respective baggage. And despite the fact that I wanted to smack their hard heads often,I really liked these too. They were both wounded and lonely and it broke my heart to read that two characters who were so young had to deal with such horrible pasts.
Brantley was strong, independent and feisty.I really liked her name, character and determination. She was hardworking, confident and she acted by instinct. Myles was a typical asshole bad boy hero with a soft center. He was often rude but he was really sweet and caring at the same time.He was also a wounded character and I felt really bad for him.
The romance was hot, blazing and with enough sexual tension to make a girl happy. They had some really steamy moments, and they also had quite sweet ones.I also loved how they constantly fought before getting together.I love it when the couple in my romance bickers all the time, and that's what these two did half of the time.
The romance is filled with drama. There are misunderstandings, the characters' pride and ego didn't let them compromise and their pasts were too scarred for them to have a smooth relationship.Brantley and Myles have quite a rocky journey when it comes to their romance, but in the end, they had their HEA,which made me quite happy as well.
Addition to these two,I also liked the side characters.Baylor Grove was described as a close knitted and friendly town, and I really liked how everyone know each other and looked after their town mates.
I also liked the fact that this is a standalone.I don't have anything against series, but I love myself a good old standalone contemporary romance, and Caught up in You was a fantastic addition to that genre.I'd recommend this to anyone who loves an emotional, heartbreaking and intense romance book with a HEA.

When you pick up this New Adult Romance you will not put it down until you read the last line. The characters and the original story draw you into their life immediately. Brantley is trying to survive emotionally and financially as a twenty-year-old living on her own with virtually no support. Her life is a challenge but she is determined to move forward independently. She encounters her impatient neighbour Myles and the sparks fly. Brantley and Myles wear a shield and use their words to protect themselves. The mysteries of their pasts stop them both from moving forward. Their chemistry is undeniable but they are determined to ignore all signs in order to shield themselves from any emotional pain.
Brantley and Myles points of view give insight into their strong and distinct personalities. Firman’s well-written read moves quickly. They both continue to react to situations and make reactionary decisions blocking their journey together. Colee Firman knows their story and provides the reader with clues along the way, as the reader desperately wants their mystery to be revealed. The secondary characters add rich layers to Caught Up In You as they give insight and depth to the novel too. Visually the setting is described flawlessly.
Will Brantley and Myles stop to really listen and communicate without shutting down emotionally? Caught Up In You by author Colee Firman is a page-turner.
I had zero expectations going into this book. The blurb sounded intriguing and quite honestly I was expecting the typical, somewhat predictable, innocent girl with baggage meets bad boy with baggage kind of story. Don't get me wrong, there was that element to this, but it was so much more and for me anyway, did not seem typical in the least. There were several surprises that had me crying and laughing and wanting to throw my kindle. I was entranced in this story almost from the beginning and fought sleep trying to stay awake to read it because I just couldn't stop. I was absolutely caught up in this mesmerizing tale.
Caught up in you is about Brantley a young 20 year old girl who has suffered loss and heartbreak and is a survivor. She went through a horrendous ordeal, and while it left its scars both physically and emotionally she is surprisingly well adjusted. She is trying to go to school, work, and fulfill her dreams. She has no interest and in guys and while she isn't a prude, she just knows getting close to someone means telling them about her past. She hasn't met anyone she felt like she could trust enough to open herself up.
Brantley scores a great house to rent, the only downside is the jerk of a neighbor she has. He seems reclusive and hateful. In fact most encounters she has had with him include him yelling and slamming doors in her face. It doesn't help that her neighbor, the mysterious Myles Franco, looks like a sex god and stirs things in her she has never felt before.
Myles Franco hates women. They are manipulative and conniving and he will never allow another woman to turn his life upside down again. He has finally got his life straightened out and is trying to do what is right. He wants to prove to everyone that he really has changed. Too bad his new neighbor has him wanting to forget how bad women are. He has to keep his distance no matter what.
A freak storm brings the two together and has them forming a tenuous friendship. However the lines of friendship are hard to keep clear.
There are so many twists and turns and surprises in this story that it really keeps you on your reading toes! I love both Brantley and Franco. They can be annoying in their ability to communicate clearly at times, but that is easily over looked.
It is hard to go into depth about to much in this story because I do not want to spoil any of the surprises and revelations that are so much fun overcoming and made this book what it is. Just take my advice, and have tissues ready. The twist is a killer.

Caught Up In You, was a truly fantastic novel. I’ve been in a bit of book funk lately and this was exactly the kind of story I needed right now. It had the perfect mix of humor, sexual tension, angst, and emotional impact that kept me interested from beginning to end.
Brantley and Myles first meet when she becomes Myles’ upstairs neighbor. From the beginning they don’t get along and they spend most of their time bickering with each other. I loved seeing how they interacted with each other. Even though they would fight and bicker, you could sense their underlying attraction for each other. They both hadn’t been in a relationship in years but they found a comfort within one another.
They each have their own emotional baggage. Brantley’s left with both physical and emotional scars. She’s learned to be careful about who she trusts and to never owe anyone. After his bad decisions and wild ways nearly cost his everything, Myles has kept away from most relationships while he’s trying to build back his life.
“Maybe Myles had secrets too. Maybe he was just as damaged as I was.”
I really enjoyed both these characters. Brantley was confident, hard working, and I loved her sarcasm and wit. Myles was the perfect amount of asshole. He was smart, gorgeous, tattooed, and pierced. He had this certain mysterious quality about it him and it made you want to get know him more. He’s kept away from women for the last two years but there was something about Brantley that he just can’t help but being drawn too.
“Every time I think I’ve got you figured out you prove me wrong.”
I can’t even describe how much I enjoyed and loved this book. This wasn’t a perfect romance. Their relationship took time to build up. You could feel the sexual tension and the chemistry between two. They also opened to one another. My heart hurt to hear the things Brantley had been through. I wanted them to be together . There was so much miscommunication that happened between the two and they wound up hurting each other because of it. I wanted to shake them both because of it and I really wondered if they would ever get it right.
This story was very realistic. It wasn’t perfect, Brantley and Myles were not perfect and I loved them all the more for it. I was anxious to see how the story would end. I could relate to the characters and I enjoyed all the side characters. Colee Firman did a wonderful job with this story. This was the first book of hers I read and I can not wait to read more.

Minor spoilers ahead...
This book started out so good, but seriously disappointed once the characters got together. The beginning of the book, where the characters meet and their first several interactions were very interesting! And, typical to new adult books, everyone has baggage in this book. Brantley is the heroine and her baggage is even heavier than most heroines I've read about in this genre. Myles has baggage as well, but to be honest, I just didn't care for this character and thought he was a drama queen...king...whatever, you know what I mean.
So, after this couple is together. They get like two minutes of happiness, then Myles, drama Queen that he is, decides that he can't communicate with Brantley about a previously pre-arranged business trip (which will last several months). Ok...I get it. In the three days they dated, there was no time to tell Brantley. But come on! Before moving out of the country, he can't write a letter, call, text, email....SOMETHING?? I'm sorry, this is just ridiculous and completely immature.
Then there were a few misunderstandings, especially one towards the end of the book that were just borderline soap opera material.
I'm sorry, I really wanted to like this book more...but it was just too much.

I loved this book, Myles that boy needed a lot of work only a woman bats*** cray cray would stay with him and that cray cray woman was Brantley that girl was persistent and did not scare easily especially when the boy was being a bear, "eff if I know..." He grabbed a napkin and pressed it to his gash. "I'm not a goddamn doctor." Myles he just needed to get his head out of his a** he really did, "you didn't think I'd care?" He leaned forward, practically yelling at me in a hushed voice. "Why? Because I didn't buy effing flowers and spout off sappy s***?" Obviously he's not a romance kind of guy. He has his moments where he can be sweet, but yet mean, "damn, what are you doing to me..." He nuzzles his lips against my ear, sending chills tumbling down my spine with his hot breath. "You have no effing idea how bad I wanna haul your a** inside and take back what's mine." I really did enjoy this push/pull match between Brantley and Myles.
Wow! This book totally took me by surprise. Brantley moves into a new apartment and her hot neighbor Myles and her get off to the wrong start. Myles is standoffish and Brantley doesn't take crap from anyone so they immediately don't get along. Both Brantley and Myles have things in their past they are not proud of, secrets that they don't like to share. There is so much angst in this book I really didn't know how things were going to turn out. The story is interesting and intense and I could not put this book down. I don't want to give too much of this book away but there was so much going on in this story, it really took me by surprise and I loved it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves an agnsty romance! This was fantastic!!!!
Man I’m glad those characters finally got it right! Missed opportunities can be a bi*** but getting that second and third chance to make things right again can make everything worth it in the end. Myles and Brantley (and yes that is a girl’s name) always seem to miss out on an epic romance. Due to outside obligations and just plain old miscommunication, they always ended up passing each other by.
Set in a little town where everyone knows everyone else’s business, it felt like the perfect back drop for this story. Brantley Prescott doesn’t like to let people in. Having the hellish experience she had when she was younger, completely shapes the way she now looks at life. Being twenty and having the only support system she had had for the last few years move away, starts her on a path she never expected to travel. Love, forgiveness, heartache, and finally letting someone in are only the few things Brantley will have to face in this story.
Myles Franco doesn’t like women and with good reason. Due to his passed indiscretions his life consists of lonely days and work filled nights. Trying to keep his head down and nose clean becomes next to impossible when he gets saddled with a new neighbor that he just can’t keep his eyes off of. Placed in the impossible spot between obligations and love, Myles’s messy life is about to get a whole lot more complicated.
I liked the book. The characters were strong and had good back stories. I felt like I connected with Myles the most. He just seemed to talk about his feelings and what was going through his head more than Brantley did. Brantley was definitely a strong character in her own right. Going through what she did and working hard for what she had showed how strong of a character she really was.
On the flip side I wish Brantley spoke up more and put herself out there. She was strong behind closed doors but in the limelight bowed out. I also would’ve liked if Myles’ character grew more within the story. I felt like from start to finish he was pretty much still the same character even though he went through some pretty big issues. I would’ve thought going through some of things he did, would’ve made him grow up and change his behavior a bit.
There were two time jumps and I wasn’t particularly thrilled with them. I wasn’t able to really feel the months Myles and Brantley spent apart. It would’ve made for a more emotional read, and I would’ve connected better with the characters, if there was an insight given to what happened during the months the characters were apart. I would’ve loved to have read what Brantley was going through the first time Myles left as well as the second time.
It definitely is a rollercoaster ride type of romance as well as up and down and hot and cold. I’m happy that everything turned out right in the end and that there was an epilogue which I absolutely think was a bonus! All in all if a rollercoaster ride type of romance is your cup of tea I’d say come and get caught up!
You know how there are times that you really, really, really want to love a book? That was this book. I wanted to love it. Really I did. But I just couldn’t.
I liked it. It was okay, but then there were times that I was bashing my head against my kindle.
Brantley is sweet as can be. A little messed up, and given her past – you can completely understand that. I was a bit shocked when I discovered the reason behind her scars, so kudos to the author for that one – I didn’t see it coming. She moves into a new apartment and her neighbor is the ever-gorgeous, but always-asshole Myles. Myles has a past of his own, though his isn’t nearly as tragic as poor Brantley’s.
Now, Myles and Brantley bicker. They fight. And it’s funny. I’m glad to see that Brant can hold her own with her super-sexy neighbor and isn’t blinded by his hotness. When they finally get passed their arguing ways – that’s where my frustration begins (ironic isn’t it?).
Now see, here is the thing. I understand miscommunication. It happens. But with Brantley and Myles – it happens over, and over, and over again. I wanted to smack them BOTH! And the first issue – the MAIN problem – could have been solved if Myles would have just opened his damn mouth! It felt like there wasn’t a real reason for the drama – it was like drama for drama’s sake, if that makes sense. Plus – it wasn’t like they didn’t have any form of communication….he totally could have called her. But no – that would have been too easy.
Gah. Can you sense my frustration? And then it kept happening. The miscommunication was every step of the way. You would think, that if you could get past it once, you would learn your lesson. Nope. Not gunna happen. Grrrrrrr!
Okay – I have that off of my chest. You have to understand, the book was actually very well written. And I actually really liked the characters. I thought that they were funny and well-balanced. Their relationship development was solid, it didn’t feel like total fluff. When I said I liked the book, I really meant it. I did like it, and I will be reading the next one – because it’s on one of my favorite secondary characters. There were just times where I was really frustrated with these characters. And it was because I wanted them to have their happily ever after – I wanted them to work out. Because I liked them…..
Overall, I would give this book a solid 3 – 3.5 Stars.
A copy of this book was generously provided by the author via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
If you are looking for a perfect romance book, heck, Caught Up in You is wrong in so many ways, because this book is not about perfection, it is about finding love in imperfections. Honestly, I went into the book expecting another sappy teen romance (but I'm a sucker for sappy romances so ....:P) that I can curl up with at night, throw in a few dramas here and there and voilà! A book version of a good old soap opera. Instead, I got more than what I bargained for.
Instead of a good laugh and some sleep, I got a box of tissue, some wet ones lying on the floor and only 4 hours to sleep before my 8am alarm. I did not expect that!
It is very tedious to write a good romantic story because all romance stories go around the same theme, therefore it is very easy to label a romance novel as cliché and typical. However, that is not the case for this one, I was first introduced to Brantley as an independent and strong protagonist that worked her butts off trying to provide for herself, to the extent of living in an apartment scarce of any furnitures and nutritious meals. On the other hand, Myles is the jerk neighbour that hates waking up in the morning and gives Brantley a hard time about it. As you may have guessed, sparks fly between them, then again, the story took on an interesting yet devastating turn (nope, no one died :P) and everything went downhill ever since.
It is really hard for me to write a review without spoiling you, I was on an emotional roller coaster since the first page -I'm pretty sure I've used up all the clean tissues- What I love about this book is that the story has such depth to it, the way the author had written the story was so exquisite that I felt the intense turmoil Brantley and Myles were going through to find each other as they've built walls around themselves as a result of their past. I love that it is not perfect, that it does not take only once, twice but three times to get things right. To me, all their imperfections and mistakes are what made their love real.
I would highly recommend this to romance lovers, be warned: it is not a light read.
Stunning, Fantastic, Wonderful, Epic...there are not enough words in the dictionary to describe how wonderfully AMAZING this book was. Somehow Colee finds a way to take her readers on an emotional roller-coaster every time she writes. I mean seriously, one minute you are screaming at the characters, the next you are crying your eyes out! I don't know how she does it but I can tell you I will continue to read every single book she writes and this book is no exception.
The book starts out with a young woman named Brantley, looking for a new place to live since her aunt is moving to Boston and getting married. This is a big step for Brantley, especially with all of her trust issues. She finds what she believes to be the perfect place, there's just one catch... It's above her price range. After talking with the owner for a bit, he agrees to lower the rent in exchange for the lawn work, since he knows her boss at the local pub. Brantley takes this offer right away, without meeting her new neighbor. Little does she know, she is about to move next door to one of the biggest assholes she has ever met.... OR is he???
You eventually meet Myles, the asshole neighbor and begin to fall in love and hate him at the same time. He is closed off and treats women like crap. It isn't until a terrible tornado runs through their small town, that you get to know the real him. There is a reason he is so closed off and secretive and they are both about to learn a lot of things about one another.
This book literally drives you mad by the end... You want to smack them both for being so stubborn. And then lock them in a closet until they work it out. Their love is true and they are both too blind to admit it.
***Warning... be prepared to cry your eyes out, you will understand why once you read it***
Amazing book!!! If you haven't read it yet, please do... This book just radiates awesomeness and makes you instantly fall in love!
First I would like to thank Colee Firman and the New Adult Book Club for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
In Caught Up In You we meet Brantley and Myles, they are both young adults, new neighbors, very stubborn and in some ways they are both dealing with the aftermath of events from the last. Brantley is trying to forget about the past, of things that happened in her family life, she wants to stand on her own two feet and she feels like she can't trust people with her secret because if she did they might see her differently. Myles on the other hand is living in his home town where everyone knows what he did when he was in college and the reason why he isn't there anymore.
They end up living in the same apartment complex and even though in the beginning they have a bit of a rough start they soon find themselves in a sort of friendship/relationship and they think they have finally found someone they can trust.
In the book we see a series of misunderstandings that make life miserable for this couple and I have to admit I'm not a big fan of misunderstandings like that in books, but in this one they just worked, they made that much more interested in the book and in the characters lives.
There are also a series of characters that kinda stole my heart and I can't wait to read about them, I'm definitely hooked.
I almost passed this book up. I'm really glad I didn't! It was really good. It's definitely young adult/new adult and I was afraid it would be immature. The parts that were actually a tad immature were made fun by the characters.
We have Brantley - who I wasn't sure right at first wasn't a guy. She's full of spunk and has overcome so much that she doesn't really allow anyone to get too close to her. She has scars, both physical and emotional that show how far she's come and how much she struggles. She somehow keeps a decent outlook on life. Then you have Myles. Sounds yummy, but seems like a jerk right off the bat. Of course, there's a reason for that. He's been burned and somehow managed to get his life back on track and he's not looking for a female distraction. The book goes into the past a little ways into the book and it explains Brant's scars. It was well written and actually very sad. There are a lot of miscommunications between the two characters that cause them to keep hurting one another. You keep thinking they'll figure it out and they don't. I usually find that type of writing, the back and forth angst, annoying, but this was good. I couldn't wait to see how it all played out. And it does all eventually play out and it's pretty fantastic! This is a good feels, but emotional read I would definitely recommend to someone needs something light to read!
Put together two main characters with a ton of issues from their past and you can expect for sparks to fly-romantic and otherwise.
Caught Up In You has a lot of great characters from the leads, Brantley and Myles, to every single secondary character (my favorites were Tom and Wyatt, Brantley's dad though not so much). They all contribute well to the story, and even though there's a lot of them I don't think the story would feel the same without them. Myles is wonderful, though doesn't necessarily make a smart decision hiding something from Brantley. The two of them together have great chemistry, even if they do clash from the start.
The story itself shows the importance of being up front and truthful when you're in a relationship (or trying to be in one), and is told from both Myles and Brantley's points of view. I always like having both the lead characters' POVs as you get so much more to the story that way. While the story does flow well and seems to move quickly, it did feel a bit drawn out at times...but overall it was a nice, dramatic read showing how Brantley and Myles overcome their own pasts as well as their own self-made stumbling blocks to finally find their way back to each other.
4 stars for this dramatic romance, recommended for 18+ due to language and sexual situations.
This is the first book I have ever read by Colee Firman but it won't be my last! This book was a rollercoaster of emotions. It was sexy, emotional and angsty. There were times when I wanted to throw my kindle in frustration but then I also then wanted to hug both Brantley and Myles. They were both wounded from their pasts but perfect for one another.
I really enjoyed this story. Myles was just one of those guys that you wanted to both slap and hug at the same time. I love my heroes mean but Myles took it to another level. He was hurting himself so he lashed out at Brantley aggressively. Brantley on the same foot was also very very stubborn. It was a challenge at times but this book was great. I can't wait to jump into book two. 4 stars ~Ratula
I would like to thank NetGalley and Weapenry Co-Op for a copy of this ebook for an honest review.
3.5 stars. Recieved from the author for an honest review. I am emotionally exhausted after reading this book. It was so up, down, back and forth, my head and my heart was spinning. I wanted to bash Myles in his head for doing what he did. I loved Brantley. She was so strong and independant, but she definitly had her own issues. I'm suprised either one of them could get out of their own way to actually have a conversation. It was well written and full of angst. It pulled me in many different directions
Through all the twists and turns of this story, I was hooked! Feeling every emotion strongly will always be the most important trademark of a fantastic author for me! Stayed up all night because I just couldn’t put it down! It’s on to book 2 for me after I get some sleep!

Caught Up in You is a new adult (NA) romance novel by Colee Firman and is about two young people trying to put their lives back together after experiencing life-changing events that have shaped them into who they are now. From neighbors who can't stand each other to lovers who have never loved anyone as much as they do one another, Brantley and Myles discover that falling in love is a lot harder than they thought and that choosing to stay silent is just as bad as not telling the truth.
Brantley Prescott is twenty years old and wants to continue living and working in the small town of Baylor Grove. She had already spent three years living with her soon-to-be married Aunt Jen, whom she loved a great deal but didn't want to impose upon any longer. She survived something unspeakable at seventeen and has the scars to bear evidence of her ordeal. Only a trusted few outside of family know what happened and she prefers to keep it that way, not wanting the pity she knows she'll see.
Myles Franco is twenty-three years old and wants to simply focus his attention on the video game that he and his best are trying to finish. His life imploded two years ago, forcing him to leave Princeton with just a year left before getting his degree. He refuses to return to the careless, reckless, and irresponsible life he once led and he certainly doesn't want to get involved with women, having learned his lesson the hard way. He simply wants to be left alone and not be bothered by anyone or anything.
When Brantley suddenly becomes Myles' new neighbor, they both notice how good looking the other is but doesn't want to have to do anything with them. Brant thinks Myles is an obnoxious jerk and Myles thinks Brant is a mouthy pain in the ass. While their attraction to each other is distracting, they don't do anything about it. It takes Mother Nature for the two to be thrown together and the days they spend together make them realize that there could be more than just a mutual crush.
Myles needs to leave for Japan soon after but is unable to tell Brant, with things progressing so quickly in their relationship. On the night he's about to ask her to wait for him, she tells him what happened to her three years ago. The following day, she goes off to spend the day with her best friend and waves goodbye to him, thinking he'll be there when she returns only to find out that he's left. Months go by until their paths cross again, but betrayal and anger may have replaced the love once there.
I quite liked this book. The story was interesting and the lead characters spoke and acted like their respective ages. They made their own set of mistakes that led to the problems in their relationship. There were a few times I seriously wanted to hit one or both of them upside the head. The lack of communication and the assumptions that were made were their biggest downfalls. Remember, people: when you assume, you make an ass out of u and me. Which was what happened with Brant and Myles.
There was nothing perfect about Brant and Myles and that's what I loved most about them. These two were survivors but I sometimes wondered if they would be able to survive their own tumultuous love story. There were a few editing errors in the book and since I received this after the book's release, I'm not sure if the errors were corrected by then. Even with that in mind, my overall impression of the book remains positive. Caught Up in You gets 4.5 stars and I happily recommend it! ♥
Caught Up In You, Colee Firman Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews.
Genre: New Adult, Romance,
This was one of those reads that reminds me why I enjoy good New Adult novels. Its full of romance, drama, humour and tears – and wow when the sad part hits there were tears.... The book is told in alternating POV of both characters. Brantley ( strange name, I felt it was more male, and kept forgetting she was the female lead at first) has a terrible past, that’s made her really cautious about meeting new people, and dating especially. She knows there will be questions asked that she doesn't want to answer, and once the subject was brought up I wanted to know what the big secret was too. When it did come out I really felt for her, I understood her so much better, and I was just awed at how she’s picked herself up and managed to go on with her life. Myles, the sexy, gorgeous boy in the flat below, he’s got a secret past too. He’s sworn off girls after an awful experience, and sadly what happened to him is all too realistic. Things like that can ruin innocent lives. Then he meets Brantley, spiky, aggressive and rude, she never the less brings out something in him, and you can feel he’s struggling to keep his distance even when his kind overtures get rudely rebuffed. Brantley doesn't mean to be rude, its the way she deals with things, she’s so independent, and can’t bear the though of taking the littlest favour. She’s a hard worker, keeping herself employed in a bar for long hours so she can continue with her schooling and get her degree. Its a terrific story of how they slowly creep forward, how Myles lets his guard down and how he slowly persuades Brantley to let him in. And then it all goes wrong, and in such a way that though I really felt for poor Brantley. I also couldn't see what Myles could have done differently they way things played out. There simply never was the right time, even though it was needed... Then just when you think they’ve settled into separate lives they collide once again, and they realise they still have strong feelings for each other. Brantley though has convinced herself she’s moved on, but really she’s just making do, hiding from her past and settling for an inferior version of what she had with Myles. He’s determined to win her back and then...something tragic happens that made my heart stutter, made me think “Oh No!!” and fear I wasn’t going to get my HEA after all....( but we do for those that are worried). Stars: Five, its an emotional read, full of dramatic rollercoasters, realsitic plots and characters and an excellent example of the best of NA writing. ARC supplied by Netgalley and author
4-1/2 Stars. This is one of those cases when you absolutely shouldn't judge a book by its cover. The sweet handholding depicted on the cover doesn't even come close to capturing the intense, sometimes volatile, emotions between the pages. The tumultuous relationship between Brantley and Myles is anything but sweet, although they do share some very sweet moments. These two clash and collide, battling their way to loving one another.
The passion and fire between them is palpable, as is the angst driven by miscommunication, assumptions, and fear. Author Colee Firman has created a vivid new adult romance filled with well-developed characters. Myles and Brantley struggle to find their place in each other's lives and the the larger world around them. The premise may not sound groundbreaking, but the storytelling sets it apart from other books in the genre. At least for me.
Plot The plot is straightforward and really well done. I don't find many straight romances that are page-turners, but this one was. The main story centers around Brantley and Myles, but there is some strong subplotting with each of their backstories as well as their futures apart from their relationship. My only real complaint is the event that forces Brantley to evaluate her feelings for Myles. I would have loved for that to have come about more organically, but it's a small complaint in an otherwise strong story.
Characters Both Myles and Brantley are tough and emotionally damaged. They both have attitudes to spare, and yet they are still extremely likable, which isn't easy to do. Both hare really well developed and believable characters. The supporting cast are also well enough developed to be more than just cardboard props for the two protagonists to interact with.
Top Five Things I Loved About Caught Up in You 1. The banter. Myles and Brantley trade barbs with some of the most fiery couples in fiction.
2. The pacing. The way the backstory is meted out, kept me on the hook. I wanted to know about Brantley's scars and the reason Myles left Princeton because of the way they were introduced. My curiosity was piqued and it kept me deep in the story, turning the pages to find out more.
3. Livvy. She's the epitome of a best friend -- fun, loving, and as loyal as they come.
4. Puck. Every boss should be this cool.
5. The Dempsey Boys. This pack of overgrown frat boys, all sharing a house in Baylor Grove, should be a recipe for disaster. Instead, they're far more level-headed and responsible than you'd expect, and they're genuinely good guys. I'm excited to see the next book in this series is about Wyatt Dempsey.
I received a complimentary e-copy of Caught Up in You in exchange for an honest review.
Brantley is trying to survive in this world. Her life was torn apart 3 years before and she has the physical scars and the emotional scars to show for it. She'd been living with her aunt ever since, but Brantley knows it's time for her aunt to get back to her own life and her own fiance in Boston, so she's found an apartment that she can afford on her meager earnings from the pub. If only it were furnished, because the girl doesn't even own a bed.
Her neighbor Myles, knows all about trying to overcome a difficult past. But he's been living his life for the past few years, not worrying about impressing anyone and just doing what he needs to do, so he doesn't always do or say the right thing.
Brantley and he get off on the wrong foot when they first meet and the sparks do fly. He's the best looking guy with the most amazing eyes that she's ever seen, but with his shaggy hair and his tats and his strange hours (sleeping all day, up all night), she's positive that he must have a revolving door of girls coming out of his apartment.
When Myles first sees Brantley, he thinks she's the most beautiful girl he's ever put his eyes on and he quickly learns that she will not take any crap from anyone and she gives as good as she gets, which intrigues him, as much as he knows that he needs to stay away.
When they are put together after an emergency, they each begin to realize that they have more in common than they think and begin to get closer. Unfortunately, neither of them is strong enough to divulge the whole truth about their pasts and their plans for the future so misunderstandings get in their way, over and over.
I absolutely loved this book. For all his faults and social ackwardness with Brantley, I LOVED him. A little harsh at times and definitely not comfortable with confrontations with the girl that he's falling for, but underneath I could sense he had a big heart and when he fell, he fell hard.
Brantley and her past was a mystery for the first half of the story - we knew she had something traumatic happen but we didn't find out until she was comfortable enough with Myles to tell him and then when certain events went down, she jumped to conclusions and here's where the misunderstandings begin and then continue.
I loved the ending - the emotions that Brantley and Myles went through were heartwrenching and I just had to keep hoping for a happy ending for both, no matter if their endings were together or not!
I was not expecting how much I was going to love this book. I loved a romance story were the couple can barely stand each other in the beginning. I love it when the heroine can go toe to toe with the hero. It makes me like her even more. Brantley is definitely a character that can stand up to her hero even though there are times where she is immensely vulnerable.
Brantley has had a hard life. She has been living with her aunt but it is time that she gets her own place and let her aunt live her life without her. Brantley is ready to prove that she can live life by herself and get by alone. She wants to be able to prove that she can do it. I loved Brantley’s character. While she has had a hard life she hasn’t let herself get bitter. While she only has a few friends she loves them fiercely. While some of her choices frustrate me I liked her character overall.
Myles has his own mysterious past that has left him jaded and definitely bitter. He has locked himself in his house until he can get his passport back so that he can leave the country. He never knew what was coming when he saw his new neighbor. I really liked Myles’s character. He was complicated and irritable. He was definitely bitter and keeping women at an arm’s length. I love that he fell in love and Brantley never had to really fight for him or fight for his attention. Every time they fought he fell a little harder.
The romance of this was amazing, heartbreaking, and completely frustrating. Brantley and Myles are neighbors and both of them have been through hard times. Brantley’s was so much more but both of them are trying to move on. When they meet the two immediately start fighting. Brantley doesn’t let Myles be a dick without giving it right back. There were just so many times that I was like “JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER”. There were communication issues and pride issues with these two. While Myles seriously messed up the first time, if Brantley put her pride aside and went after him they wouldn’t of had more problems.
I loved the story line. There were great side characters that you couldn’t help but love. The two main characters, while frustrating, were so great. They worked together and I loved both of their stories. The actual storyline was interesting. There was a little bit of mystery surrounding Brantley and her scares but I loved that it didn’t make her bitter. I really loved this book and I will definitely be picking up more from this author.
I was given this Ebook copy of Caught Up In You by Shut Up and Read on Goodreads in exchange for an honest review.
I was drawn into the book immediately and did not want to put it down. From the beginning to the end of this book all I could say was just Wow!
Brantley does not like to discuss her past nor get too close to people because then she has to decide whether to lie about it or tell them the horrific details. She doesn't want people to feel pity for her or to run them away by revealing her past.
She has been living with her aunt for the past several years and working as a bartender at the local pub. She decides to find an apartment in town instead of moving with her aunt away. She wants to stay where she has some friends and a job.
Her new neighbor Myles has a past he would like to forget as well. He has stayed away from females for the past couple of years due to past transgressions and is determined to avoid his new beautiful neighbor.
Their paths cross and both of them are stubborn and determined to keep their distance. When the are together for any amount of time they consistently argue and end up mad at each other.
I really enjoy the connection the characters have but they are in denial to admit. I think secretly they enjoy the adrenaline pumping through them as they argue. Myles begins to realize his attraction to Brantley especially when other guys are paying attention to her. He wants to fight them and claim her as his own but that confuses him. He never felt that type of connection with any girl he has met before.
What happens between Brantley and Myles when they learn about each other's pasts. Does this break them apart and they move on alone or with someone else? Or do they work through it together and try to move forward together.
I recommend this book because the characters and storyline were well written. There is so much confusion within each of the characters that you don't know how things will turn out. This book will hold your interest and you won't want to put it down.
I Was Provided A ARC In Exchange Of A Honest Review (Spoilers)
Colee Firman brings us a griping story, of love, heartache, miscommunication, and second chances.
Brantley Prescott has is a strong, independent, nineteen year old, who has been through hell. She's trying to live her life. She holds a steady job, goes to college, and now she needs her own place. She wants to let her Aunt Jen go to Boston with her fiance. She's been taking care of Brantley for three years now. And she wants her aunt to start her life.
With a new apartment, and great friends, Brantley feels like she's in a good place. She has Livvy, Wyatt Dempsey, and Livvy's boyfriend Tom, and his cousins,The Dempsey brothers, there is alot of them.
But things become a emotional roller-coaster ride when she meets her down stairs neighbour. He's intrigues her with his, dark looks, tattoo's, piercings, and a asshole attitude.
Myles Franco is a man who keeps to himself. Hurt and betrayed, he doesn't let himself close to people, mainly women. He stays in his apartment, and works on developing a video game with his friend Pete, who's doing his part in Japan. Myles will be leaving for Japan soon. So the last thing he needs is a women complicating things. But with his upstairs neighbour, always knocking on his door, or disturbing his sleep. He can't help but let this beautiful women distracted him from his plans.
Brantley and Myles both have things in there past that they are to scared to share. But they can't deny the feelings growing between them.
Unfortunately, with missed chances, secrets, fear and miscommunication, Brantley & Myles keep seeming to miss the chance at there happy ending.
I really enjoyed all these characters. Especially Brantley & Myles.
These are broken, scared, real characters, who really grow and become so much more by the end of the book.
Great job Colee Firman. I can't wait to read more from you.
I so wanted to give this book 5 stars, but the heroine does something that I just had a hard time accepting. I understood where she was coming from, but I knew in the end it would be hurtful and come back to bite her in the ass.
This story is so filled with angst. Heartbreaking life shattering angst. It takes a young woman from a stable well-rounded home to devastating loss and unbelievable heartbreak. While the hero, Myles, suffered through a painful trauma himself, it’s more from his own youthful indiscretions that brings it on. As for Brantley’s, the heroine, hers is more out of her control as she struggled with the effect that it had on her young life.
I loved this pair’s banter! When they first meet, I couldn’t help but laugh. There was some pretty funny stuff said here. Brantley’s mouth has no filter. So the language is quite a bit dirty. But, it fit the story. And, she can definitely handle herself. While Myles’ exchange is more of a gruff and sexy manner. And, oh what a tattooed and attractive man he was. This is a book where I was hoping that the two main characters would get their s**it together because the chemistry between the two was totally there. It was just all the other hoopla that had them pulling back and running.
The writer pens an exceptionally emotional story filled with chances being taken and trust holding the key to their hearts. It was high-time to bury all the heartache between the two and give into their feelings for each other. In the end, their true compassion proves to be the key that they so desperately need to take that step to trusting each other explicitly.
So interested in reading the next book in the series! Always looking for new authors to rock my reading world, and Ms. Firman did it totally with this one...

Brantley Prescott is a girl trying to survive her past. Her father is in prison, her family gone, and with a secret tragedy that forever changed her, and she is trying to put a life together, to stand on her own. She is a hard worker and willing to do whatever she has to to make it on her own and owe no one.
Myles Franco has made a lot of mistakes in his past. He has now sworn off any females and has dedicated himself to his work. It is one thing trying to move on from his past mistakes but the problem is that those closest to him won't let him forget.
Brantley meets her new neighbor Myles under less then pleasant circumstances. Neither like each other, she thinks he is an ass and he thinks she is a b**ch. However there is no denying how each thinks the other is very pleasant to look at. Soon their runs in are less then friendly and filled with slamming doors. However, when a storm hits their town they are forced to actually spend some time together.
Brantley and Myles can not deny to themselves or each other the attraction they have. The question is can they let down their walls and share the secrets of their past.
I went into this one completely blind, no idea what to expect. I loved these characters and their stories. I will worn you this book is full of angst and miscommunication which usually irritates me but I loved everything about this story. I could not put it down. I laughed and there were even some spots where I wanted to cry. These two just belong together however neither can seem to get together enough to make it happen. This is a great read.
Caught Up In You......oh what do I say about this book that I completely fell in love with? The writing was great, the story was original and captivating and the characters has me in hooked from the start.
Brantley is in a bad situation from the start of this book, but she doesn't let it stop her. She has some deep and dark secrets. Big ones. But, that is her past and she will not let it define her. Instead she makes a life for herself. She asks for no help. Brantley does what she has to with no complaints and no excuses. She was a main character I fell in love with. Not too many female lead characters and like her. I really appreciated the fact that she was such a strong lead.
Back to the story... Brantley is looking for a new apartment. She goes to see one that is too expensive, but she falls in love with it. he landlord cuts her a deal. Little does she know, she will end up with more than an apartment.
Her new neighbor, Myles, is a complete jerk right off the bat. He yells at her for making too much noise, not having her keys and a slew of other things. Myles comes off as a complete jerk at first. Then we see his walls come crumbling down, Little by little, we get to see the softer side of Myles ad learn that he is actually a sweet guy. Myles could be my new book boyfriend.
Both Brantley and Myles have their secrets. Both past and present. Myles just may have more than Brantley. Just when you thought he was perfect, he ruins everything and leaves her broken hearted. You want him to come back and fix everything. You NEED him to come back and win her back.
I really enjoyed this story. I thought it was realistic and could relate to all of the characters in this book. Colee Firman has herself in a new fan in me!!
