"Wisdom multiples your time, and time is one of the most valuable commodities you have. When you have wisdom, you can accomplish more in less time, so your time is multiplied. If most people can do a job in 10 hours and you have the wisdom to figure out how to get in done in 5 hours, you have gained 5 hours. That is multiplication." (Chuck D. Pierce, A Time to Prosper)
This is my first book that I have read by Chuck Pierce, many of which consider a modern day prophet or has been given the office of a prophet, as indicated in Ephesians 4:11. He co-authored this book with Robert Heidler. He begins with a chapter on God's promise to prosper His children, then gets into how we must war to attain the prosperity that God wants us to have, as there are enemies that will try to come to block the prospering of God's people, and how we can have victory over these thieves.
Both touch on the feasts of Israel, particularly, Passover and Pentecost. I am still trying to grasp an understanding of these feasts, but both indicate that by practicing these feasts, there is liberation and celebration. He defines Passover as "a celebration of redemption and deliverance by the blood of the Lamb", and he defines the Feast of Pentecost as "open heavens." He then gets into how giving God our firstfruits causes blessing to come on the rest. However, he doesn't just teach on tithing of money, but also about giving the firstfruits of things, such of as our time, by seeking God first. A whole chapter is dedicated to the teaching of firstfruits. Also, he covers the renewing of our minds to prosper and God's gift of the Sabbot, which some may recognize as the Hebrew for Sabbath or Day of Rest.
My favourite chapter was on the laws of giving and multiplication. In it, he explains how we first need to identify what we have, no matter how insignificant it is. For example, Jesus identified the boy's lunch and Elisha had the widowed woman identify her jar of oil. If you remember any of these stories, you will know that God multiplied the boy's lunch to feed 5000 people, and how the jar of oil multiplied to fill all the jars that the woman could find. He says, "what you have now may seem small and even insignificant. What you have now may seem as if it won't do anything to meet your needs. But if you learn to multiply, what you have now will more than meet every need. God wants to change your mindset. He wants you to know that He's already given you what you need. You just need to learn to multiply it."
A book to keep in your arsenal to battle for what belongs to you as a child of the Most High God. The Good News is we have already won through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I decree, "IT'S TIME TO PROSPER!"
I was hesitant to read this book due to the barrage of unbiblical theology floating around out there on the topic of prosperity. In truth, it wasn’t the title that interested me. Instead, I had recently read “The Cycles of God” by Robert Heidler and found that it is now out of print. I was curious if that information had been incorporated into another book-possibly this one. I am happy to say it has been. That portion alone is well worth getting the book. I am also happy to say that my concerns about “A Time to Prosper: Finding and Entering God’s Realm of Blessings” was unfounded.
Chuck Pierce and Robert Heidler have done an admirable job of walking the line of truth that is bordered on the one side by those who would try to manipulate God into giving them all their desires and the other side by those who believe that poverty and holiness are inextricably linked. The authors provide ample examples from scripture of God’s desire to bless his children while issuing the countering warning that our focus must remain on Him rather than the acquisition of things.
There are two areas where this book shines: 1. It provides a solid biblical theology for prosperity. 2. It reveals ancient patterns ordained by God to keep us on the blessings side of Deuteronomy 28.
This book could easily garner a 5-star rating for its research and content. I hesitantly ding it because it can, at times, become a bit laborious and verbose with large portions of narrative coming from other books the authors have written. While I enjoy books that are conversational in style, I prefer the content to be more tightly refined and focused. That being said, there are probably others who enjoy this style.
Everything considered, I recommend this book to anyone who wants to align themselves with the blessings of God without getting caught up in the “God owes me something” theology of too many tele-evangelists. This book is far more balanced than most.
Unlike so many books on prosperity, the one is not based on the idea that we simply claim and receive this. Instead, the authors present a path of using wise, established, kingdom principles in connection with God's timing to multiply what we are given. They extend the discussion of prosperity to more than just financial wealth, and they remind the reader that we are blessed to be a blessing. Instead of learning to prosper for selfish gain, they advocate the multiplying power of God to establish us and make it possible to do more in ministry to the world around. This is an excellent book on the biblical model of prosperity in the kingdom of God.
I've been a recipient of Chuck's teachings for some time and can attest that I've benefited greatly when I've chewed on and applied them. I've read this book several times and each time it's opened my eyes and stirred a greater desire to prosper in every area of my life. Not just financially, but to experience the fullness of life. This work is written by someone who does just that.
