Luna has freed the charming treasure-hunting werewolf, Duncan, from the magical control device that let their enemies manipulate him. Finally, she can trust him fully, and they can explore a romantic relationship.
Or so she thinks.
But destroying that device had ramifications…
A curse threatens to take Duncan’s life. If they can’t figure out a way to remove it, Luna will lose the man she’s come to care deeply about—maybe even love.
A good book, but it was a bit slow but felt very rushed towards the end. It felt like the slow beginning left too much to finish with, so it was a rush to fit it all in.
Luna's enemies have decided they are not just going after the Werewolf artefacts in Luna's possession, but her very territory itself. Also, after destroying the control device, it has disastrous after effects for Duncan. Now Luna might lose everything and the person she loves as well. However, neither Luna nor Duncan are going down without a fight.
If things were paced out better in this book, it would have been an easy five stars. This book set up a couple of potential conversations that need to happen. I do like how the characters are levelling up and that all the characters are very likeable. The book did leave me hungry for the next book.
This series has terrible book covers, so luckily I already love the author else I likely would never have given it a chance. This may be one of my favorite series so far from Lindsay Buroker, not quite top of the list, but up there. It's full of so much snarky banter, it's quite fun to read.
There is a reason I don’t usually read series that aren’t finished and this book is a good example of why – I need to know what’s going to happen next! Duncan has been freed of the machine that controls him but it is affecting his health. According to the man who created him, he is actually dying. There are definite signs of his going downhill. Thanks to some research, they do have a starting point but other things seem to keep getting in the way. This is a fast moving, easy read. There is action, surprises, the slow romance has a lot of innuendo but still nothing more than an occasional kiss. It is there though. There is also a lot of humour in this book partially because of Luna’s snarky talk. Bolin’s magic is getting stronger but it’s not helping with his pursuit of Jasmine. He’s adorably geeky. I just loved this book and will be waiting impatiently for the final installment.
This series is stalling out a bit. While there was a little bit of progress in the storyline, most of this was filler.
The banter between Luna and Duncan is still stale. Their romance hasn't really moved in 5 books. By now, I would've expected more than what we've been given. They're not even really friends yet. Luna is still incredibly selfish. Duncan's dying, but hey, she needs to go do something else first. Overall, I didn't take anything very seriously because the stakes are really low in this series. I did like Bolin's growth, though. I'm hoping he becomes more active in the series.
The confrontation with Luna's son was completely avoided. And that was a major letdown. Why bother having them exist or even interact in the series?
I'm not chomping at the bit to read the next book, but I will read it.
Rounding up from 3.5. While there is a bit of slow forward movement with the characters, there isn't much movement with the plot. The first part of the book was a bit slow - mostly focused on the gang that is threatening the areas around Luna's complex. The search for the sword continued with little resolution during that time and Duncan developed a curse due to the destruction of the control unit (book 4). There were quite a few segues that showed potential for a future profession for Luna if the complex is sold. They didn't do much for the storyline though. The last 1/3 of the book picked up as Luna and Duncan raced to solve the curse and the end was a little unexpected. The next book should close the series.
Sometimes a middle book in a series feels like it might be treading water and taking up space without moving the series forward.
I love Buroker. Her quirky characters and witty banter always draw me in. Sometimes quirk and wit can’t carry the full weight of expectations. This was that story.
The good news is that the author writes fast so I don’t have long to wait to get to Luna and Duncan’s happy ending.
Now that Luna has free Duncan from the device that was controlling him she realize that he is starting to die without it. Not only is she trying to figure out how to save his life, but they’re also learning a lot more about the wolf medallions and the wolf case. I did like the ending of the book because some people definitely got what they deserved. I will definitely be reading the next book in this series.
Duncan and Luna can’t catch a break! Luna is searching for her sword and Duncan his still trying to get next to her when Bolin announces a wolf relic has been taken from another collector. With her niece Jasmine still helping and her father providing geek squad assistance, Luna and Duncan are led to yet another battle for their lives. Slowly but surely, the conclusion is coming in book six.
I'm currently reading this book. I love Buroker's stories/writing, but I'm struggling to finish. The last few series have dragged for me. I feel like it's taking way too long to wrap the story up. Just when I think it's about to be finished we get another twist and I'm waiting for another book. This series and the Death Before Dragons series are testing me. I hate not finishing and because the first few books were so amazing it breaks my heart.
This series of books is fantastic Quick easy reads this 1 was fantastic loved all the action in it can't wait for the next 1I mean I still think there could be like 50 books in this series that's how good it is but there's only 1 more so I'm looking forward to it if you're looking for an easy read and enjoyable story pick up this series She writes a really good 1 enjoy
Lindsay it is definitely one of my favorite authors at this time. She can weave a towel with more plot, twisting terms than a roller coaster, where you don’t know what’s coming next; keeps the plot suspenseful and thrilling! Adding in the snarky banter in the middle just punctuates how truly amazing her writing skills is! I love her supercilious, quirky characters!
I love the teasing dialogue and wordplay. I connect with a middle-aged, badass mother who is reconnecting with herself after a suffocating marriage and parenting experience.
There is no embarrassingly graphic cookie and the other characters flesh out with every chapter. Relationships among friends, siblings, extended families, and courting couples intertwine and illustrate human nature at its worst and best.
This book opens up so many new possibilities, I'm hopeful the author will extend the series. As usual there is plenty of action, sarcasm, and a touch of sensuality. Adding fresh new characters and future career opportunities for our protagonist and things get very interesting indeed! Can't wait for the next book to drop!
This is the 5th book in the Magnetic Magic series and lives up to the goodness of the first four. I love these characters! Their dialogue always makes me laugh. And of course there’s plenty of action, chases, fights, magical everything. And of course wolves. I can hardly wait until the next and final book comes out!
Another good book. I'm glad that I stuck with the series and read it. I feel like their relationship is finally progressing and we're seeing some character growth with the side characters too. Lots of progress finally happened and I'm excited to see what happens next, especially with the semi cliffhanger and with the next book being the finale
As usual this author wreaks havoc with getting 8 hrs of sleep as just can’t put Kindle/phone down! Luna & Duncan just keep you rooting for them and wondering what will come next. Very creative in plotting, and I love the progression she gives all her characters. As always can’t wait till last book but dread it as well and now only one left to go #6.
I read to relax and enjoy the story Lindsay's storytelling is great reading for me. I have read all her stories and often reread old series waiting for new books. I love them
Liked all of it. Storyline, character building, interesting plot weaving. Tied in well to the previous books in the series with just enough links without overdoing it. Already having withdrawal symptoms
Violin rap, magnet fishing, chocolate covered bacon, just some of the paths to romance in this page-turning tale featuring two characters I’ve come to adore. Can’t wait to see how it all wraps up in the last installment.
Oh goodness at the paranormal pandemonium. The characters in the series are quirky and incredibly fascinating. I loved the drums power that emerged from Bolin! The snark and humor always brings smiles.
So, so good!! I LOVE Lindsay Buroker's writing. As a sarcastic woman myself, I love her heroines' humor! I'll be very sad when I finish the 6th and last book in this series.
Curse of the Wolf (Magnetic Magic Book 5) Lindsay Buroker
It's Lindsay Buroker, I really don't need to say any more. I absolutely love her work and as normal can hardly wait for the release of the next book (final) in this series and looks forward to where she will go next.
This book will keep you on the edge of your seat,Luna and Duncan are always a step behind trouble and it follows them everywhere. There's magic and mayhem in the air.
Life isn't always fair. But then you you have a werewolf family to add into the mix. But Luna and Duncan keep trying to get it done ! Now can the curse be lifted or is this the end?
It was good but I didn't think as good as the previous four books in the Series. It seemed a much shorter story as well, but still looking forward to the last book.
Once again I tried to pace myself but alas I finished this book way too quickly. It's such a long way for the final book. I don't know how I'll survive! 😔🤭😛
Luna and Duncan have more unique adventures. The owners are selling the apartment complex that Luna manages. Things are heating up in good and bad ways. An excellent read.
