She believed she was given a second chance.
What she found was a waking nightmare.

Sixteen-year-old Heather’s life changes forever after a seemingly innocent accident plunges her into darkness.

After a tragic incident, Heather dies for five minutes. In recovery, her parents cling to hope that she’s safe and the ordeal is over—but the nightmare has only just begun.

Slowly, Heather realizes her old life is gone, and something dark has come back with her. She begins to see things that shouldn’t be there—dead things—and they see her too.

In the shadows, Heather must summon every ounce of courage to survive—or become another ghost lost to the nightmare forever.

Some secrets are better left buried. The dead are hiding in plain sight—and they hunger for more than just her soul.

It was just okay but I struggled to get through it. The plot seemed interesting enough but I thought it fell short. Luckily it was a short read otherwise it would have been a DNF. I thought it felt rushed and the author spent too much time describing things and not enough time getting the reader interested. And I didn't really feel connected to the characters either.

First of all, this book should not be called a horror thriller...there was nothing scary or thrilling about it. While it is only 166 pages long, it felt longer than books I've read that are three times as long. The whole time I felt like I was reading a giant poem that kept repeating and tried to use as much imagery as possible. The amount of similies and metaphors used in this book was painful. This book could have been done in 50 pages without all the extra fluffy language. I don't usually write reviews but felt I had to on this one just to warn others not to waste their time even if they think to themselves "oh 166 pages is nothing, I can finish that in a day", like I thought (it took me three agonizing days).

good but not great

There is a lot of potential here but not enough development. The concept is good but I don’t really care about the characters. The familial bond between the parents and child is “meh” at best. There’s no explanation of the natural questions the story tells. It just kind of fell flat. I gave it a 3 because I cared enough to find out what happened in the end. It feels rushed, like it was handed in to meet a deadline. For supernatural stories to work, it has to be intriguing enough to make the reader suspend belief and this just doesn’t have that.

“5 Minutes: A Horror Thriller Novel” by Eve Evans is a chilling dive into supernatural horror. Creepy, atmospheric, and full of eerie tension, it kept me on edge most of the way through. If you love ghostly encounters and unsettling twists, this is a quick but haunting read.”
