This novella originally appeared in the Three Southern Beaches collection released July of 2014.
Taylor Jefferies fled the Hollywood spotlight and found herself helping the citizens of the small town of Keeneston. As luck would have it, the sexy man who caught her eye and found a place in her heart joined her at college that fall. She just had to graduate college, find a new job, and try to stay out of the media spotlight she’d grown to hate to make her happily ever after possible.
Trey Everett has done a lot of growing up since he left Keeneston for college. Now twenty-six years old and making a name for himself in the NFL, he has found true love. It's just as simple as asking America’s Sweetheart, Taylor Jefferies, one little question to secure his happiness. The only problem stopping his fairy tale ending is that someone is determined to kill the mood . . . and the love of his life.

Sweet and adorable. The characters Trey and Taylor have been both since we first met them as teenagers and now as young couple who are in love and living their dream. Taylor has it all, but this story shows some danger coming from multiple sources and how her found family help out. The Roses are always the MVP, but really they are for their help with planning and orchestrating a major moment for the couple. Cy was a heart warming addition and I loved seeing Mallory cross over to bluegrass from the Women of Power series!

All Hung Up is the first book in the Bluegrass Singles series (Bluegrass Book #11) by Kathleen Brooks. ‘Bluegrass’ combines romance and suspense, with a touch of Southern charm. A few years ago a friend recommended this author, and her many series, to me - as she had devoured every book and absolutely loved them, singing the author’s praises from high from the hilltops. So, being an avid reader who loves discovering new authors and enticing reads, I took my friends recommendations seriously, and started amassing Ms. Brooks many books, with the plan to have a huge binge session/buddy read with my friend. But with so many books on my TBR, and new, exciting ones releasing every week, I always seemed to get pulled into other books- as these just kept piling up. Since part of my yearly reading challenges for the past few years has been to dust off my TBR pile/s and read the books that have been languishing there the longest, I decided to finally dive in and get the series read. While I did ‘enjoy’ the books for the most part- I didn’t fall madly in love with them as my friend promised that I would. But that’s ok, I am really happy that she loves them as much as she does. But for me, they were just an ‘okay’ read. With plenty of small-town drama, intrigue, angst, chemistry, humour, community, family, friendship, charm, mystery, tension, danger, emotion, and suspense- the stories are about finding love unexpectedly and love conquering all. The books can all be read as standalones if you wanted, without feeling ‘lost’ or like you are missing big pieces of the picture. This is because each instalment introduces its own ‘couple’- providing plenty of romance, a dash of suspense, and some sweet development to make your heart flutter. But I have to be honest, I found there were a few issues which detracted from my overall enjoyment of the stories/series. Such as the ‘wordiness’ which really slowed the flow of the storyline at times, as there was such an overwhelming amount of detail which didn’t really ‘add’ to or propel the story in any way, except to perhaps distract from the plot. I love details, normally- but not when there are pages of descriptions, as things tend to ‘bog’ down and the flow/pace/plot gets lost amongst the detritus- and also leads to some ‘wandering’ storylines. There were also many loose ends, for me- threads that were left hanging, or not fully woven into the storyline- which I found a bit frustrating. I really wanted to love this series as much as my friend did…. but instead, I was left a little disappointed. Happy reading! 📚💙
All Hung Up is a sweet and suspenseful novella that blends small-town charm with the glitz of Hollywood and the thrill of a mystery. Taylor Jefferies, a former starlet, has found solace in Keeneston, far from the prying eyes of the media. Her love story with Trey Everett, a rising NFL player, is warm and heartfelt, with just the right amount of chemistry to make their relationship feel authentic. But as Trey prepares to propose, danger lurks in the shadows, threatening their happily-ever-after. The novella's pacing is fast, making it a quick and engaging read. While the romance is tender and easy to root for, the suspense element adds a layer of excitement that keeps the pages turning. The small-town atmosphere is a highlight, with Brooks capturing the warmth of a close-knit community. However, given its shorter length, some plot points feel a bit rushed, and the mystery could have been more fleshed out. Still, it’s a delightful, feel-good read with just enough intrigue to keep things interesting.
All Hung Up nicely carries fans of Keeneston’s characters into transition and growth. Taylor and Trey, who met at the end of Cy and Gemma’s adventure, Secrets Collide, are here depicted as maturing adults who love and support each other in an inspiring relationship. It also pulls in a different set of characters, from Ms. Brooks’ “Power” series, which is a great series, too, (but would be even better if Eric G. Dove also narrated it).
Eric’s narration gets better with every book, and every time I re-listen to any one of them. It always sounds as if he loves the Keenestoniites as much as I do.
Taylor is a young movie star that won an oscar. She eventually stops acting and becomes the producer. Trey is a football player who crosses path with Taylor they fall in love. Taylor has a stalker who wants to kill her. Trey is finding the right time to propose to Taylor. Taylor wonders why Trey has not proposed to her. This is a cute romance so much is going on keeping them from settling down together in a marriage. There is some twists who ends up being the stalker. I enjoyed the story and would read more of this author.
Super short part of the Bluegrass Singles series which is about side characters we've met in the Bluegrass series. This is a really cute couple by the way and really like their interactions.
Trey and Taylor who met as teenagers and then again in college are the main focus. They have been together for 6 yrs and he wants to propose. With his NFL schedule and her directing schedule it just never seems to be the right time. The whole town and quirky characters are part of the story as well as a stalker who wants to end Taylor.
Short story about Trey and Taylor's love story. Trey is the former Keenston QB and current NFL player. Taylor used to be America's sweetheart. Now Taylor is producing her first movie. She's also Cy's surrogate daughter/little sister. He helped her get emancipated from her abusive parents and looked after her while she was growing up. Trey and Taylor have been together since college. Every time Trey tries to propose something happens.
Overall Amanda rating: A This was a very cute little story. It was very sweet and short. The plot, characters, everything.... It was all amazing. Kathleen once again did not disappoint. Taylor: I really like this character. Her parents are absolutely horrid. I am so glad she has Cy as a father figure. Trey: So adorable. Perfect gentleman in every aspect of the word. Short book... short review.
We need to have more confidence in ourselves and in our significant others. Trust, Love, compassion and friendship are the key to a happy life and marriage.
Trey and Taylor are cute together. Trey just needs to quit trying so hard to make it a perfect proposal and just do it. Poor Taylor has no clue! Of course the town of Keeneston has to get involved!
It was great reading about Taylor and Trey, especially since you had heard about them in previous stories. Happy to see another couple get their happy ever after
This one was not as good as the others in the series. I wasn't as invested in these characters but I have already ordered and downloaded the next in the series.
This is a goo story. Glad the characters from earlier books were added. Connected better. A few personal pronoun errors are scattered throughout the story. Recommend.
Very determined fiesty young lady working hard to get her directing carrier up and running, she has some really bad, bad luck which later on we find isn't quite what she thought. Loved his passion for her and determination to find a perfect way to propose, once again the full Kensington clan come together just gotta love them rose sisters.
Taylor and Trey meet and find themselves wanting to know each other more when Taylor helps Cy rescue Gemma. Trey and Taylor attend college together and are still together years later. Taylor is trying to find her love for making movies again. Trey is a professional football player and decides that he wants to spend the rest of his life with Taylor. Despite numerous attempts, Trey finds himself unable to come up with the perfect proposal. When push comes to shove, Trey calls on the Rose sisters and other town family members to come to the rescue. While all of this was going on, Taylor finds herself in danger as someone is out to do her physical harm. When it is discovered who was behind all of the attempts on her life, Taylor finds her life going in a different direction that she planned. You will have to read it to find out how it all ends, but you won't be disappointed. Well done by Kathleen Brooks.
Nice and easy read. Great little addition to the Bluegrass family and Intro into the Women of Power series. Always fun to revisit Keenston and its quirky residents. Trey and Taylor were so sweet together, its kind of messed up that they were together for seven long years before Trey decided to man up and propose, just because he was insecure. Their relationship wasn't a waste as they both finished school and settled into their respective careers but it almost got stale, he was too sexy to be so insecure. There were so many children's names thrown in this book, I forgot who was who, I hope if Ms. Brooks continues to write little Bluegrass novellas, she refrains from mentioning so many of the past characters and their offspring, it just confuses the reader...
(READ AS PART OF THREE SOUTHERN BEACHES ANTHOLOGY)
This is another brilliant read from Kathleen Brooks although I don't think she could write a bad book about the Keeneston crew she has captured a wonderful town. I must say Trey is just as hunky as the Davis and other men in this town and he has a wonderful woman in Taylor and she sooo deserves a good man after what her parents did to her. Can't wait to hear more from this group of Keenestonites lol
