Kayla Monroe had fallen hard and fast for Dr. Ben Foster. He was everything she needed and wanted after being dumped by the man she thought she loved. What started as a one night stand quickly turned into a blossoming relationship. Then the complications of his youth halt everything in its tracks.
The voices around her are telling Kayla that Ben isn't the man she thinks he is but her heart is telling her something completely different. She's drawn to him like a moth to a flame and as she listens as he explains his past, she sees the promise of a future with him that she desperately wants.
She's the thread that will weave a path for Ben back into the family he has lost. She senses it and as she takes on the task of releasing him from his burdens, she discovers that the man she has been sharing her bed with is, more complicated than she ever imagined.
Just as Kayla is about to step into her future with Ben, she ends up in a place where she's forced to accept a truth that she never knew existed.the next few weeks.
Deborah Bladon has never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She's a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you can often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan is definitely her second home.
She cherishes her family and believes that each day is a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.
In this one, Ben and Kayla must face what happened in his past. Kayla is falling for him and believes his innocence. She's trying to help mend fences for him.
The sex is still pretty freaking HOT!! There's plenty of filthy talking in this installment as well. Just when Kayla thinks she is in a dead end relationship with Ben, he asks for exclusivity. She's over the moon happy and while he's away at a medical conference in Boston, she learns more about what happened during his past. The news is good because it can clear his guilty conscience.
Kayla decides to go to him in Boston to share the news. I had a feeling something would not be copacetic about this conference. I was right but HOLY HELL, I was not expecting that ending. My fucking heart is crushed. Book 3 better be damn good and not disappoint!! I'm totally saying WTF right now!!!! Ben, I don't think I like you very much right now!
Okay, now that THAT is out of the way, we can get going.
Kayla Monroe has fallen in love with Dr. Ben Foster hard and fast. What started off as a rebound-hit-and-run has blossomed into something that she wants to cling to and never ever give up on.
Everyone keeps warning her off about Ben, but she knows in her heart that he is "the one" and that he is just a misunderstood and terribly lonely man. She doesn't care what everyone else thinks. She knows him.
The more time they spend together, sharing secrets and touching each other's souls through skin, Kayla becomes more and more attached to this dangerously enigmatic but deliciously caring man.
And when they touch each other... Oh man, these two ignite the pages! They are seriously too hot together!
Kayla knows that she is the key to bring Ben back to his lost family and to warm things up between him and his twin brother, Noah. All she has to do is learn exactly what has happened that tragic night years ago, that destroyed a whole family apart.
Ben needs her. And she would do anything to mend Ben's broken heart.
But does Kayla really know Ben? Can she really trust him with her heart? Would Ben ever do anything to hurt her or break her trust?
The answer is very easy:
OF COURSE HE F*CKING WILL!
Anyway, congratulations to Deborah Bladon for rising from the dead and claiming back her former awesome self! I really loved this one! Brilliant!
Now about that damn cliffhanger...
Goddamn Ben better have a GOOD explanation or I'm gonna flip out!!
This was my first series by Deborah Bladon and I think I may have read them out of turn. They are quick, steamy, entertaining reads. The story of Ruin pairs a doctor and a recently single heroine , who unbeknownst to them already have baggage before they even really get a chance. The best friends story was the earlier series I believe but I couldn't stand her in this story so I probably won't go back and read it. Part 2
WOW, I’m reading and reading and reading, the tension is rising, and the storytelling is getting good. I’m on the edge of the seat waiting with Kayla for the reveal of what’s she is hearing in the apartment.
There it is. The Big Reveal. In total shock because I really did not see that coming. Touch the screen for the next page, and oh my goodness. The end of RUIN, Part 2 by Deborah Bladon. Go to next installment. Scream.
Before I do, however, I rush to write up my review report to document my reaction. I don’t want details from part 3 to affect my thoughts on part 2.
I was annoyed at the writing in part 2. I felt the author stretching the storytelling for affect. I think trying to create tension. The question is whether the tension came from frustration of the slow pace story or tension rising as we move along the story.
The MC sex scenes are hot but repetitive. Once they become repetitive, they become annoying. So I naturally start skipping the intimate scenes.
I love, love getting to know Noah whom I didn’t like much in Part 1. His meetings with Kayla are enlightening to the reader, to Kayla, and yes to Noah. Alexa, Noah’s fiancé has been put in a difficult position of being loyal to her soon-to-be husband, to Kayla, and the friendship they have developed over the years. And Ben, poor Ben.
I have to move on. I want to read Part 3 like now. That cliffhanger, I have no idea where this is going and whether this is good for Kayla.
Overall, this installment is very good. I was total immerse in the story as it moved along to conclusion. The author interjects more details and insights into the storyline, which serve as a means to grow characterizations and to set the plot sizzling. Ruin, Part 2 is deliciously bad. I love it.
Bump up the star rating to 4.5 for broadening of characterizations, and the deepening of plot development.

Wow...Deborah needs to get the awards for Queen of OMFG...Cliff-hangers. My heart usually starts beating faster whenever I reach the last two chapters of her books. Wow..Wow..Wow...I am "floving" this story so hard. I love that we get to see Noah's breakthrough. Can't wait to see where this goes! Parker you suck!!! Lol....Ben you do to but I like you still!
I purposely waited to start this series until the final book was released. As usual with Ms. Bladon's books, I zipped right through the first two and after that ending I am waiting on book number 3!! I love her books!! They draw you in from the start, they are hot as hell and always leave you wanting more! I hope to dive into book #3 today (fingers crossed)!
Deborah Bladon really knows how to end books a cliffhanger! I absolutely hate Ben in this book. He's manipulative, deceitful and untrustworthy. The last few pages will have your head spinning. I definitely wasn't expecting that. I don't know if I can even wait for the next installment. I need to know what Kayla says to Ben and Parker. The suspense is killing me!
Well this has been one jaw opener after another. It seems to be a triangle with Ben, Noah and Kayla. Things are just happening and the love that Kayla has for all three is being tested. My heart goes out to Kayla. We shall see what happens in book three. Where is Ben coming from?
Things are getting really interesting and are so not what they seem at first!! Horrible family tragedy broke up Noah and Ben and the ending...did not see this coming!
Im getting a little tired of the he-said, she-said, they-said...no wait he & she said.... But the ending?!?! HOLY SHIT BALLS!! I'm going straight for the conclusion Right Now!!
This is the second part in a the part series. Kayla is trying to help Ben mend the rift with his brother. She's falling in love along the way. As more information comes out it's beginning to look hopeful. Until Boston.
Hands down, no one can write a dirty talking alpha male like Deborah Bladon. Since her cliffhangers are like painful hangovers for me (how does she get them out of those situations??), I held off until all 3 books were released. I'm glad I did because books 1 and 2 ended with the delightfully predictable - how are they getting out of this one??
Although I'm starting to see a pattern with her male characters, I still love reading them and can't get enough. They're dirty and alpha. They're overconfident. And officially, several of them keep mid-town hotel rooms on standby for one night stands. Ben became a little different. Although he's confident, he also is very vulnerable. Just like the other series, he dominates the first book and by the 2nd or 3rd in the series the heroine takes over that role.
Kayla was a little hard to feel out. I think it's because at the beginning she seemed dazed and whispered a lot. I still grew to love her and she was the best pairing for Ben. I liked seeing her used as one of the heroines after getting to know her in Noah/Alexa's series.
I loved Noah even more in this book!! Alexa - she's not my favorite of all these intertwining series. I still haven't read Sadie's books, but Alexa's paranoia of upsetting, etc. Sadie makes me think she's weak and spineless. I know that's not true, but there's something about Alexa I never gelled with after the 3rd book in her series. And her reasoning for Sadie as her bridesmaid over Kayla left me confused and with a bad taste in my mouth, regardless that Kayla might be the stronger of the two.
All that to say - I LOVE ANYTHING SHE WRITES! I'm already excited for the next series Gone which has more of the characters from this one and other books.
OMG! I'm still freaking out from that ending. I never, NEVER, saw that coming! I love books that shock me and aren't predictable. Many books I've read lately I can figure out the ending before the middle of the book, but in this book I never guess right! I'm always surprised at what's happening with the characters and I love it!
Ben and Kayla have been through a lot. When Kayla found out that Ben is the twin brother of her best friend's fiance, she's shocked, but she wants to make their relationship work. What she didn't anticipate was Ben admitting that he killed his mother when when he was a teen. Is there more to this story that Ben isn't telling her? And why is Noah, Ben's brother, so convinced that Ben will only ruin Kayla?
Just remember, things are not always what they appear to be. And you'll see a different side of Ben in this book that you never seen coming. Prepare for a roller-coaster of emotions with this book.
I loved this book more than I loved the last one! I love Ben, but the ending of this book has me questioning him. You better believe I'm reading the third and last book tonight to see if Ben is really the guy I thought he was. Let's just say that I want to smack him right now and I don't know what to believe anymore.
I highly recommend this book to everyone! You will love it and be shocked by the ending!
My favorite parts:
"Forgiveness is a heady beast when death is on the table."
"Secrets have a way of pulling you apart from within. They fester until they have no place to go but out into the open."
Holy crap, you never see the ending coming! Ben is the handsome doctor, charming, amazing skills in the bedroom, and he seems like he is sincere in explaining what happened to drive a wedge between him and his twin brother Noah. Noah on the other hand looks intimidating, has a long scar on his face, feels hatred & resentment towards his brother. This all clouds our judgment as to who is telling the truth about the past. Kayla begins to have a secret friendship with Noah, meeting him for lunch, trying to talk to him about Ben & why Noah might not have all the details about their history. Kayla cannot seem to let go of her ties to Ben & now it might not all be sexual. They want to be exclusive with each other. And Noah is starting to open up to the idea that Ben might not be entirely to blame & he is beside himself, right before the wedding too. And then the ending, Kayla wants to surprise Ben at his medical convention in Boston & she overhears a conversation she wasn't meant to hear & wow, blew my mind! What I appreciate about Kayla is that she is a tough girl, a smart girl, and I know she isn't going to sink into a corner & cry about any of this. She is going to demand answers & bang some heads together & get mad about it - and I can't wait! Kayla has been used in a game but I have faith that she is going to come out on top! I can't wait for Book #3 to come out. Favorite conversation - Ben: You think I'm hot? Kayla: I think you're everything!
Okay, enough with the holy hell cliffhangers! Seriously?? I'm on the edge of my seat and you drop a bomb on me like that and then leave me hanging?
I really like this book. It has a great plot with a shocking backstory. Reading it at times feels like pulling teeth though. There's so many parts that make me want to scream! Trying not to give any spoilers away, how can you be in a situation like this and skirt over and pluck at questions? Kayla gets on my nerves a bit. If you want to know the truth about something, stand your ground and don't leave until you're fully satisfied. Stop with the cat and mouse game. It's so annoying and frankly pathetic. It's driving me crazy yet, I'm captivated.
This is book two in the three book series. It really could have all been all out together in one complete book but I guess the author wanted to shock the audience with the major cliffhangers.. Well, it worked.
