Lone Wolf Pack #3

Expecting His Alpha's Child

Rate this book
The day his brother-in-law Gavin gives birth, Finn Simmons receives an unexpected phone call. Gavin's little brothers need his help, and their social worker, Parker Knight, requests a meeting. With Gavin and Saul busy with their new son, it's up to Finn to take charge of the situation. But when he does exactly that, he finds in shock that Parker is his mate. Naturally, he's ecstatic... except he's still a werewolf Alpha with too many responsibilities and secrets, and there's still an enemy pack biting at his heels.

Parker has dedicated his life to helping people as a social worker. When a case that's particularly close to his heart leads him to a meeting with a breathtakingly handsome man, he tries to be professional about it. He tries to remember he can't lose his heart to Finn Simmons—and he fails.

Despite their misgivings, their pull toward one another is too strong to resist, but the obstacles in their path are not to be trifled with. In a world increasingly hostile toward human-werewolf matings, can one Alpha protect his new mate, and his unexpected new family?

Anya Byrne is first and foremost a longtime fan of erotic romance. Starting to write her own stories was a natural progression of her devotion for the genre. Years after she put pen to paper in that very first book, she is just as enthusiastic and let’s face it, somewhat obsessive about erotic romance and all that it entails. She is steadfast in the belief that there’s nothing quite as hot as an amazing hero—except more amazing heroes engaged in heroic hot lovin’, and has branched out into the field of self-publishing to convince even more readers of this fact. Hopefully, she will succeed :).

This was so much better than the last book! I can really tell how much the author has grown in the improved writing of this book. It was much better put together than book two. I enjoyed this thoroughly.

I WILL NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY AN EPILOGUE
I WILL NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY AN EPILOGUE
I WILL NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY AN EPILOGUE
I WILL NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY AN EPILOGUE
I WILL NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY AN EPILOGUE

I wrote those lines because I am a bad, naughty little reader who jumps to conclusions. At the end of Knocked Up by His Werewolf Dom Lone Wolf Pack 2 I was upset. I was unhappy. I thought I might not continue with this series. Because in the epilogue I assumed certain things about this series, and you know what they say right? When you assume you make an ASS out of U and ME.

Because actually what this book did was fix the upset! Sure Dean and Will kissed at the end of book 2, but they've not really properly reunited! They have unresolved ISSUES! I love it!

But that's enough about my misjudgement. Erhem. Anya Byrne self-publishes, but she does it with lovely editing and grammar which is no small feat. She writes smoothly and has pretty damn good sex scenes. Finn doesn't witness Gavin give birth so that was a shame and I'm still slightly wondering about the biology of the mpreg, but it's erotica, I suppose we don't need a blow by blow (out of the gutters people, I don't mean that type of blowing).

The attacks on the pack and Simmons' family were well orchestrated and made sense in the context of the series, the cheeky damn cliffhangery ending segues nicely into book 4 A family with his werewolf mate Lone Wolf Pack 4 and the long awaited Dean and William storyline! Woot!

Another lovely installment. This one was a bit more action-packed than the previous ones, a bit more high-stakes, but it was still as romantic and steamy and sweet. I loved Finn and Parker together, they were pretty endearing and the initial chemistry between them was top-notch. The found family vibes were, as with both precious books, flawless. I'm so excited to continue this series! William and Dean's story will probably break me and I cannot wait to see what will happen with them!

Thank you GRR for the ARC. I received it in exchange for an honest review.

I'm really not getting the series title on this..

Of course that's not really relevant to this episode of the series but anyways...

I am inclined to agree now that Dean and Will's reunion issues were better off being skipped. Besides the first moment of reunion, these two are estranged currently. On to Finn.. I'm not sure I like him. Book one he's so egoistical and power hungry like and now he's humbled by having his own human mate. The pack dynamics that come into play are like tyranny in charge. 'I decide this is best so this is what is going to be enforced' feeling to me. I'd like to see what happens to our new 'resident' silencer also. Perhaps... Just wondering if Parker's friend is going to turn out to be someone's mate..

Also seems clear like some answers surrounding the old relationship break off and the mystery of current Gathering affairs will be coming to a head in the next book with Will and Dean front and center... This is a no peaking the the blurbs zone so mere quesswork on all..

This was my least favorite book of the series. While it did expand some of the world building in this universe, I just didn't feel the connection between the two main characters. So far, the best book is book #4, with book one right behind it. Even though "Expecting His Alpha's Child" wasn't my cup of tea, I'm going to continue with the series, as I love the premise.

Finally we have a birth in this installment. Well, we have a baby. The way the baby arrived is glossed over. I'm not sure that I will continue with this series; the books are very similar. I will give the second book in the Mate Wooing series a try. The first book was very cute.

So many questions about these shifters and how things work, and the vague explanations aren't helping, but I can't stop reading these stories. Crazy times :D

Parker is a social worker with a huge heart. He takes two bothers (at their moms request) to their older brother till she is well enough to care for the boys herself. Finn is a werewolf, shocked when he realizes that the human Parker is his mate. Parker and Finn’s romance was quick and filled with problems from from the start. Their times together were actually rather brief, but pretty spicy.

I liked the story for the most part. I just didn’t engage with the characters. It felt like something was missing. Not enough plot maybe, although there was some action. I would encourage anyone who wants to read this to read the other books in the series first.

I received an arc of this book.

Not my favorite of the series, but we did gain a lot of information and got rid of a couple of bad guys. Also, the “Gathering” sounds like a nightmare and like they all have superiority complexes. Finn was stronger than he thought and Parker…was too! He found out about the supernatural world quite abruptly and didn’t run for the hills. I am so excited for the next story! I know it’s going to make me real, real sad, but I want to know William and Dean’s back story and what William plans to do to save Dean. Intensity!

His Alpha's Child is the third story in the Lone Wolf Pack series. Parker is a social worker. Finn is an alpha werewolf with a lot of responsibilities. A bit more of the world building is expanded and explained. Finn and Parkers story is quick but I really liked the interactions between them. My only wish was that the story’s were a little longer and more depth to them. Overall, I really enjoyed the story, it was well written and over too quick.

I really liked this books. The day his brother-in-law Gavin gives birth Finn Simmons answers Gavin's ringing phone Gavin's little brothers need his help, and their social worker, Parker Knight, requests a meeting. Finn agrees to handle it for them as they are busy with their new born son. Parker has dedicated his life to helping people as a social worker , because of his own past. When a case that's particularly close to his heart leads him to a meeting with a breathtakingly handsome man, he tries to be professional about it. What Finn finds when he get to Parker is his mate and he is shocked first he is wolf and his mate his human and his Pack is under attack and he's an Alpha. What I liked about this book is that he didn't rush it he spent time with Parker before they had sex and he was very good with Gavin's little brother's. Parker knew their was something special about Finn and he felt safe with him after they have sex and Finn is telling Parker that he is not human they get attacked by Finn's ex. Finn spend three weeks in a coma at which time he learns that he is pregnant. This book was well written like the rest in this series and I loved the interaction between Finn and Parker and also the other characters in this series. During their attack another Alpha's son is killed and he challenges Finn who is now Alpha of his father's pack Finn has his hands full of all the werewolf politics and protecting his family. I really liked this book.

This turned out to be quite a lot to take... I didn't really read the blurb and was totally not expecting the twist immediately after their first time in bed. Heheh. I really liked the MCs, though! The kids were fine but then there just had to be a little too much other stuff going on as well. I almost didn't want to continue the series but then by the end of the book I'm intrigued. Now I'm curious how the MCs of the next book will fare.

Probably my favorite of the series so far, I felt like this had stronger writing, better pace, and definitely helped move the overall story further along. I enjoyed this one, looking forward to the next one! Finally we'll get Will and Dean's story I think!

This is probably the better written book in the series so far. There is less time jumps and more details of events, resulting in the story having a better flow.
it looks like dean and William will be the next book in this series, I'm looking forward to it.

Finn still feels guilty after causing problems between his brother Saul and his mate Gavin. When Gavin is in labor with his child, his phone rings and Finn answers it. It is a social worker who wanted to get in touch with Gavin. Gavin's mother is in the hospital and Gavin's two half brothers need a place while she is recovering. Finn goes to check things out and probably pick up the brothers to give Gavin a chance to recover from child birth. Finn is shocked when he arrives at Parker the social worker's house. Parker is his mate and he has to somehow explain everything that is happening without scaring his mate off. To make things worse, claiming a human mate in the middle of a pack war could be very dangerous.

Parker has always liked Alicia even though she has been reported to social services a few times. He found out that her last two husbands left her with a lot of debts to pay off and she is trying her best to raise her two young sons. She had a falling out with Gavin and still feels guilty about that. When she falls and gets badly hurt, she asks Parker to contact her older son Gavin. She knows he will take care of his brothers. Parker does call and he is concerned when Finn answers the phone instead of Gavin but Finn explains that Gavin was in the hospital for a procedure. Finn agrees to come meet Alicia and pick up the boys for Gavin. When Parker meets Finn, sparks fly. Things would have gotten out of hands except the boys were around. Parker accompanies Finn back home with the boys to make sure everything is all right. Parker is very drawn to Finn but he seems to be keeping some big secrets.

ARC received from GRR for an honest review.

Finn is happy for his brothers Gavin (book one) and Jessie (book two) but sad that his own mating didn't work out as well. He longs for a true mate and family of his own. When Gavin's brothers need a place to stay, Finn volunteers to go get them, while Gavin is recuperating. When Finn meets the man helping the boys' mother, he immediately recognizes him as his mate. Will Finn finally get his mate and a family or will outside forces tear them apart?

Parker is a social worker who has been helping Gavin's mother with her two young sons. He feels like a big brother to them and will do whatever he can to help them. When he agrees to help get the boys to their older brother Gavin, he is torn between what's right and knowing he'll miss the boys. Meeting Finn is a surprise. Parker is immediately attracted to him and feels like something is different. When he goes with Finn to drop off the boys with Gavin, he enters a whole new world. Will Parker finally find the life he's always wanted or will he lose it before it gets started?

This is a really good shifter romance. I really liked the continuing story from books one and two and felt it had a good story arc. The chemistry between Finn and Parker is hot and the continued chemistry with the characters from the whole series is genuine. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series. I'm anxiously awaiting the answers to what happened to Dean and Erdi.

I honestly really liked the premise and was eager to read an author I'm new to in a genre I really enjoy. What followed was the constant feeling that I was missing something, very little grounding in reality where reality could be applied, insufficient connection to and between characters, and just not the ideal kind of flow to the overall story.

This is the third of the series and while I thought it might stand alone as it featured a separate couple than the first two I truly don't recommend reading it on its own. There was so much going on with the world, the characters, the politics, the coup-like issues because of mates, the council, the major players not featured yet pop in to change events drastically...there's just a ton that I felt like I was missing out on some key foundational things that I may have gotten from previous books in the series.

Whether they would have filled me in or not remains to be seen as I truly don't think I'll continue with this author, but if you liked the intrigue and dynamics here you should probably heck out the rest.

Hmm okay I enjoyed this like the last two, but there's a pattern. Like it doesn't kill my enjoyment of the story, but it is getting a touch old now. That said, I loved Parker and Finn. Parker hasn't had an easy life and he wants to help kids. Finn's gotten some character growth from his introduction earlier. I do think this one felt rushed. A couple of time skips I thought could have been fleshed out. I'd have liked to have seen a bit more with the kids. Despite them being Gavin's brothers, I think there could have been some good stuff.

I'm liking the slow roll out of the werewolf politics. I like that all three stories are tied together through the politics. Next book is Dean and Will and that's exciting. I'm hoping we get a look into their past as well as future.

Solid next instalment for the series

I admit that I do not read this series with any intention of falling in love with the characters (it’s not that kind of series imo). That being said I really didn’t like Finn and I had hoped to see more actual redemption for his past attitude/actions. In book one particularly he’s a deeply unpleasant character who does a 180 (for no apparent reason) and it seems like we’re meant to just accept he’s a swell guy now. Either way we get to see Finn find his mate in Patrick which followed much the same basic plot line as the first two books. I do think you need a decent amount of time between reads on this series otherwise it can start feeling repetitive. I was happy to see that a certain ‘reunion’ made a lot more sense as thing weren’t just automatically hunky-dory. There are still some real issues to get through which we’ll get to see in the next book. Despite any criticism I make it’s still a solid easy/no think read. Great for when you want something easy, short and a little silly.

Great addition to the series. It really helps to read the series in order to give context. Parker, a social worker is called to communicate with Gavin about his younger siblings, Kyle/7 and Jackie/5. Their Mom, Alicia is hospitalized with severe injuries. Finn volunteers to stand in proxy to Gavin who recently gave birth. Lots of potential logistical complexities. When Finn and Parker met, they were instantly attracted to each other. Finn, recognized Parker as his mate. Their journey is complicated and dangerous. Lots of excitement. Lots of love. Does Parker accept the wereworld easily? Is Finn able to keep Parker safe? Good to see Saul's pack mates. Great characters. Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

His Alpha's Child Review: Loved it!

OK...this series is getting better and better. I'm totally enthralled with the ongoing story and of course the romance between the shifter wolves and their human mates. Finn has totally redeemed himself from the first book and now he has found his other half in Parker...their connection is instant and incredibly HOT. So many things occurring, had me on edge until the very end. Wow what an ending...but fortunately it will keep going with the next book...Mannnnn I can't wait til the next one...VERY NICE!

Another great addition to the Lone Wolf Pack series. Watching his brothers finding mates, Finn wondered if he would ever find his mate. Parker was only supposed to help facilitate his friends children with a reunion with their older brother that was estranged from their mom. Finn knew immediately that Parker was his mate but he also knew he would have to tread lightly since Parker was a human. Intrigue, betrayal and acceptance are some of the elements in this wonderful story.

I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest review.

This book was ok, I guess. I feel like there is so much potential and if the author had just fully committed to the shifter/MPREG genre and commonly accepted tropes like omega males some of the things that frustrate me would solved. Like pregnancy being dangerous for men even with the vague “DNA changes”? Shower gel? Does the author hate the submissive partners or something?!?
Also, the author clearly has ZERO idea how Children’s/Social Services works. Parker would have been fired a few times over.
I wouldn’t recommend this series, there are so many better ones out there!

I've been interested to see who Finn would end up with and am glad that Parker seems to be the perfect man for him. There are serious complications with human/werewolf bonds these days and Finn's and Parker's relationship is further complicated by the presence of the children that Finn must care for while Gavin and Alicia recover. I'm very interested to see how things go in the next book in this series as things are clearly going to have to come to a head and let there be a final resolution and with three more books to go there must be some exciting things in store.

His Alpha's Child is Book 3 in the Lone Wolf Pack series and should be enjoyed in order as it's a continuous story. In this book we find Parker, a social worker with a heart of gold, in need of connecting Gavin with his two younger brothers as their mother heals. What Parker finds is Finn, Gavin's brother-in-law and his mate. I really enjoyed this book. This series just keeps getting better and I can't wait to see where the story will go next.

I didn't realize that I never read books 1 & 2 while getting this book as an ARC for my honest review. I thought this book was well written and now I have to go back and read the 1st two books so I can see how things got to this point in the series. I do recommend to read this series in order as I think I would have understood it better and won't get series mixed up. Looking forward to getting caught up on this series.

Another fun addition to this series

I enjoyed this book but maybe not quite as much as I did the first two books. I do like that these books are more connected to each other than some series that I have read and not just different couples in the same setting but this book made me feel like there wasn’t as much planning to the overall story as there could have been. It’s still a fun shortish read that does have quite a good story by itself.
