One Lucky B #1

Just Her Luck

Rate this book
Genevieve Ferguson didn't know what she was getting herself into when she agreed to fill in for her ailing aunt at the Harrison's ranch. Seeing as to how this is Aunt Ruthie, though, and you can't ever outguess the spry, quirky old woman, she should have known better. The smart mouthed, normally prickly Miss Ferguson gets way more than she'd ever bargained for when she gets sucked into the crazy, kooky family madness that is the Harrison men.

Reader Advisory: This story contains foul language, mild violence, menage sex scenes, a quirky gal with a chip on her shoulder and a house full of sexy cowboys. (m/f/m) (no m/m)

4 stars.
Would have been 5 easy if it had been shorter .
(Check the page count before you begin)

Awesome polyamerous romance between a girl & 5 cowboy brothers.
No conflict, no paranormal, no aliens, just drama and panty-melting erotica.

I really like this author. If you've never read her,I seriously urge you to check out my favorite of hers: Of Another Dimension

All of her wonderful stories end with babies & happiness.
She suffered a life-altering tragedy this fall. A drunk driver caused the death of her young son. I kept thinking of that throughout the ending of this particular book.
I selfishly wonder if the monster driving that car robbed this world of more than the life of the author's precious son.

I've been waiting for another full length book from this author for what feels like toooo long since I was absolutely blown away with her other 2 full lengths- "Of Another Dimension" and "Bridal Hunt"- both of which I gave 5 stars. This one got 4 stars because of some writing quirks that bothered me throughout that I couldn't look past. But still a really good polyamorous relationship erotica book!

Quick Rundown: Super quirky, tattoo pierced Chick helps out her Aunt by "temporarily" taking over her housekeeper position for a set of 5 brothers on a ranch- cleaning and cooking while her Aunt takes a health leave. From the beginning, the 5 Brother Dudes are truly characters and the antics start from the beginning. Connections are developed and love is found...with Dude 1, Dude 2, Dude 3, Dude 4 and finally Dude 5! That's a tall order but everyone delivers:)

Characterization: This was great except for 2 of the 6 main characters. Chick was really fleshed out and she made sense. She was a little overly quirky/snarky/antagonistic but the latter is explained by her past so I can't fault her that. Brothers Sawyer and Bo just didn't seem necessary to me. I didn't feel like they were as fleshed out as the other 3 brothers were. They often seemed to blend together into one individual and I think that would have been a better route to take. That would have also cut some length off the novel as it does take time to really draw one into a relationship with each man...and with all five? Yeah, the author does this really well. She makes this polyamorous relationship between 5 brothers and one chick make sense. Secondary characters are done well enough with the Aunt being the most lovable. Big Bad? There really isn't one. There are a couple nasty characters but they're dealt with quickly and swiftly and aren't really that bad so this is mostly a happy, happy erotica book.

Plot: Nothing terribly new here except maybe the number of brothers:) Really pleasing epilogue with HEA that is about 8 years in the future so that's satisfying. Steam factor is very high and there's lots of great sex as there should be with 5 sexual partners. A couple of threesomes but no M/M (they're brothers after all). I did have issue with her always forgetting to use condoms though she always demands them afterwards. That got old as she did it often.

Writing/Editing issues: Just a couple small editing errors and completely passable. A couple writing ticks that were somewhat frustrating throughout. 1. Chick has a lot of snarky inner dialogue lines but they are grouped together in sets of up to 5 when 1 or 2 would have been plenty and each one is on a separate line which also added to the length of the book. 2. Lack of Spatial Directions: what I mean by this is that one moment someone is sitting across the room but then they are right next to her or right behind her without ever getting up and moving across the room. As I read, the scenes are visualized in my head like I am watching a movie so with characters popping up out of the blue, it's quite distracting. It didn't happen all the time but several per chapter so it was noticeable.

Overall: Another win from this novel and I'll be checking her page often for new full length novels. She also has a lot of short stories but I can't stand short stories-- I need at least 180 pages. IF you like short stories, check out all her books.

JUST HER LUCK BY JEANETTE LYNN

God was this hilariously funny and naughty!!! I've got to admit the uproariously funny musings she has while she's thinking or deciding the what, where, who or why while IN THE MOMENT of everything that is happening makes for continuous laugh out loud reading. WOW!! Once they get through all the drama, mischievous goings on and misunderstandings everything Heats up to Hot and Heavenly Sizzling between all of them...no CLIFFHANGERS....but A Lot of Loving!! Absolutely adored the characters. You will be thoroughly pleased..I'm recommending you read it too!! JEANETTE LYNN just Doesn't Disappoint with Her Writing!!!

Funny? Yes. But the heroine's too annoying. Her reactions are always over the top. Always exaggerating things. Can't really connect with her personality.

One of the best Stories built around s menage I've ever read !!!

Ok, was gonna give this story 5 stars coz I really, really loved it that much but although it might sound "niggly and or petty" who the Hell uses " Prison Bait" as a " term of endearment " for someone they love? Ok sure Reeve start out in a BAD place with each other and take , what til at least the last 70% of the book for him to finally pull his head out of his ass and make things right between them ? And while " prison bait" started off as part a general insult he loved to lob at her even she he started treated not her better he STILL USED IT!!!!! WHO IS VER USES A TERM LIKE THAN AS AN ENDEARMENT ?!?!? Even in a Real prison that's the last thing you wanna be called! Calling her that even on their wedding day ( which was another thing I wasn't thrilled with, married by committee? Every one had a say in it just about but her!) I found the whole damn thing very unromantic and too overbearing and don't ev n get me started on those DAMN BETS!!!
I LOVED their family don't get me wrong ,but who makes bets on their children's love lives etc? The SOB was still her that disgusting "prison bait" BS even after having 4 children with her and a 5 th on the way ;( only maybe deciding maybe it's not a good thing when the youngest who sounds under the age of 2 starts repeating it :( Ephraim was my fave followed by Thatcher and Bowen and Sawyer tiring for third while Reeve was by no means a "bad" guy between his disgusting choices in "people names" and his tendency to be a bit of an overly controlling dominating jerk at times ? He wasn't bad but if this was my story , as in I could move the and live it and make it mine? It would be without him, I think a week with him and I'd kill him... No seriously I'd kill him... Btw how you think it would go over with him if a guys pet name for one of his girls was " Porn Princess" ? I just know he'd kill him ;( but I loved it!!! Great story!! To many menage stories especially the M/F/M ones I prefer can all to often be almost all sex and little to No story but this one has it all in balance a good and interesting story and characters,I really hope there are more stories like this!!!
Thank you ,thank you Sooo much!!!! But pleas, pleas, please No more disgusting nick names like " prison bait" . Pretty please !!!!!

I LOVE the RH Genre, so I enjoyed Just Her Luck. However, it doesn't stand up to the new wave of RH which all have phenomenal stories to accompany the incredible men and woman featured in the love story. This is a very traditional RH. Genevieve is filling in for her dearest ailing Aunt Ruthie as housekeeper/cook on the Harrison ranch. She has no idea what she's getting into or how her life will change forever. Suddenly surrounded by five gorgeous cowboy brothers, she finds herself falling for them all.

I would have liked the book better with a few adjustments to Genevieve. She was a bit too immature and volatile for my taste. Every comment and incident escalated into a fight with her. Too nasty, too snarky. Too much. I did enjoy her inner monologues. I liked the cowboys for the most part. I would have appreciated more Bo, but that's me. I wasn't a fan of Reeve and Genevieve. I could not separate their nastiness towards each other and their initial sex. By the end they won me over, but it was a long, hard road.

All in all this was a long, enjoyable read. I would have rated it a 3.5 if possible due to my above issues, but the writing is good, the characters developed.

I didn't like it quite as much as Of Another Dimension. This has slightly more angst and slightly more male characters. I could have handled a few less of them as I kept getting confused and often found it hard to distinguish one from the other.

But I did love the story overall. We have Genevieve who becomes a live in housekeeper for 5 brothers.

Ephraim is first. He is the nice but dim one. I loved him. Soft and romantic.
Reese the angry angsty one who has all the push/pull.
Bowen the clever guy with specs. I also liked him.
Sawyer the cheeky one
Thatcher the goodlooking one

I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. I found the banter a bit non-stop at times. The h was strong and didn't take any shit from the brothers, but she could be a bit repetative. I liked how they had to corner her in order to get her attention. It was a bit angsty in parts and some of the internal monologuing got a bit overwhelming, but I really enjoyed it. I am not sure how she could really keep up with all that lovin' though! I couldn't keep up!

Pretty much every single character was deeply unlikeable and all of them also seemed to have an impulse control of a raging toddler. I guess you could call it funny but it's Benny Hill funny - pie-in-the-face, kick-in-the-butt, vulgarity and sexism and dubious content all the way.
It's not my kind of humor and therefore I was a wrong person to read that book.

After about 4 or 5 chapters, I just skimmed through this. It takes forever for anything to happen in this book. There is a lot of useless exposition and, although the book is sometimes funny (a lot of the time, it's just trying to hard), the MC got a little annoying after a while. Not to mention, it was hard to read at times due to sentence structure.
Anyways, this wasn't a terrible book or story, and typically I don't mind a longer read, however, this just seemed like the author wanted to stretch the book out and instead of there being plot, it was full of random thoughts and ridiculous comments by the MC.

Anyways. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for something with a mild plot with a crazy characters.

Silly, heartfelt story

I loved the length of this book, allowing a deep dive into the life and antics of our merry band of misfits.

The main character and her guys were mostly a believable lot. Thatcher was overdone occasionally, and the main character did nothing but shoot her mouth off, but I forgave it all in the name of entertainment. There were a couple instances of "manufactured drama" being unnecessarily created because two or more characters didn't communicate, which is a pet peeve of mine. They were few and far between, however.

Author had issues with italics (either missing or unnecessary usage) and past/present tense irregularities semi-regularly. It probably wouldn't be noticeable to the average reader, however.

I've got this author down on my tbr pile with a few more books. I'm looking forward to it. Quite enjoyable!

Genevieve "Vieve" had a rough childhood, her Aunt Ruthie and cousin Barry, are the only family she claims. Ruthie is like a mom and Barry a brother. At 27, she has has her own house and a thriving graphic design business she runs out of it. Aunt Ruthie is having some health problems and asks Vieve to take over her job as housekeeper and cook for the Harrison brothers, who are ranchers, while she recovers.
She meets the youngest two brothers first. Ephraim "E" is tall dark and handsome, but he is awkward and shy, and tends to put his foot in it when ever he opens his mouth, a real sweet heart. Thatcher is a tall blond and the hottest man Vieve has ever seen, with a loud and dramatic personality. you never know what he will say or do next.
Bowen, the second oldest, is built like a linebacker. The tall, dark and silent type, with an easy sense of humor.
Sawyer is the middle brother, a tall hot blond, built like Bo, and is the peacemaker of the family.
Then there is Reeve. The oldest brother. Tall dark and lean. A total Alpha. A surely personality with a chip on his shoulder and a lot of personal baggage. He wants Vieve gone.
Vieve and Reeve mix like oil and water. When they give in to their attraction, Reeve, tears he apart.
His brothers adore her and they all want her and are willing to share. They grew up in a poly house hold. They have 3 dads that are brothers. Vieve has some misgivings, she loves them equally and can't see just choosing one. Their crazy parents adore her too.
The fighting for her attention. The bickering, wares on her. Then there is Reeve. She has come between him and his brother and it does't sit well. Her men aren't going to let her walk away without a fight.
The more time the spend together the more Reeve tries to make amends. Vieve, let him is once and he tore her apart, she won't let him do it again. When they find themselves alone together for a week. Reeve takes the time to make things right.
A fast paced and steamy, laugh out loud and tear jerking, reverse harem with great secondary characters . A great epilogue.
Love this book. This was a re read for me. A favorite of mine. A go to book when I need a pick me up.
I love Jeanette Lynn's books. She always has strong and quirky female characters. Her leading men there is always, a great mix of Alphas, Horn Dogs, Strong and Silent, Sweet Hearts, Peace maker/voice of reason, and the one that always makes you laugh. The supporting characters are interesting and fun. The bad guys/girls, you love to hate always get a perfect send off. The epilogue always makes the HEA complete. Jeanette Lynn books are a automatic buy for me.

Just her luck by Jeanette Lynn was such a light, fun read. Just the perfect mixture of comedy, romance and smutty but well written menage/ erotica to keep me engrossed throughout the whole book.

The plot:
When quirky Genevieve's aunt Ruthie - the only person in her life she really cares about - falls ill and asks Gen to temporarily sub for her as a housekeeper at the Harrison ranch, she doesn't know what she's getting herself into. Suddenly surrounded by five hunky, gorgeous cowboy brothers, their boisterous family, and more friends than she's ever had in her life, she's got her work cut out. What she definitely wasn't expecting was to fall in love, least of all with not just one but eventually all five brothers.

Okay, so there wasn't too much story here. No suspense, no angst, little drama. Still, I never once got bored, thanks to the amazing characters and the epic dialogues, the heroine's very talkative inner voice, and the sweet but partially rocky romance. Alright, alright - and the admittedly pretty sexy and steamy love scenes (both MF and MFM).

What I liked:
- The characters. Ruthie was awesome, as was the heroine, Genevieve, and, of course, the heroes. The latter were totally unlike each other, each one nicely developed and loveable in their own way.
- The slow building romance. I'm so tired of reading about insta-love and insta-lust all the time, it's refreshing to find a realistic (as far as you can call a relationship with five men realistic, but you know what I mean) approach to falling in love.
- The sexy times *cough*
- The beautiful epilogue (8 years later)

Now, you may wonder why this isn't a 5 star review? I'll tell you.

What I didn't like:
- Occasionally, Genevieves inner voice was just too much. Too noisy, too repetitive, too snarky, so there were times when she just annoyed the hell out of me. But at least the voice would shut up in certain *cough* scenes.
-

Anyway!
If you're looking for a humorous, light-hearted, sexy, sweet read, you should really try this one.

First read by this author. Standalone book

Recommended by a friend to read and I’m glad that I did, this is a story about Genevieve and her reverse harem of five cowboys...reeve, Bowen, Ephraim, thatcher and sawyer.

Gennys aunt Ruthie is sick and awaiting an operation, leaving genny to step in as temporary house keeper/cook/cowboy wrangler. Genny is tattooed and pieces and curvy and somehow finds herself on the receiving end of all 5 of the cowboys affections. Turns out auntie Ruthie has been keeping secrets about her operation and her health in general... turns out the cowboys want to keep her forever and share!!

This book was a slow burn for me...it took me a while to get used to gennys constant internal mental meanderings and the interactions between the guys ( which at times were quite funny ) but to start left me wondering what the hell was going on and Factoring in gennys quite ‘over The top reactions’ and a few too many guys it was a bit overwhelming to start.

Also the whole real life reverse harem thing threw me for a loop... I’m ised to reading RH in sci-fi/PNR and fantasy but never set in real life so I found that quite hard to believe at first ( yes I know it’s a made up story...but I like some realism especially if books are set in the real world and yes I know that ployamourous relationships happen in real life but I have NEVER read about one woman and five men!! )

I have to say that I adored Bowen and reeve... they were my kinda guys! 😂😂😂
Mostly funny with sparks of real emotion this is a little gem of a book ( the copy I had did have a number of editing issues but that stuff doesn’t really bother me normally )
On the whole an enjoyable read.
I will be looking into more from this author.

Okay so it very much reads like a cheesy rom-com country show, with a buuuunch of internal thoughts and like unrealistic unfunny jokes and conversations. All 5 brothers are like immediately into her, although she doesn’t realize, and also tell her they love her very quickly.
I wasn’t super into the enemies to lovers to enemies to lovers thing with Reeve, but I mean it worked out in the end so.
I was also so over the whole get her pregnant to marry her against her will, incredibly sexist and old-fashioned. I was also kinda waiting for more like cowboy scenes, there were like a few references to horses and such but nothing else. Idk, it kinda irked me, especially since the book was so long. I also wish we saw more of the weddings, rather than off-hand references, especially since the first one was so sudden and kinda forced. I kinda wish she had also ended up with Ten but I get how that would’ve been way too many men lol, but they had such chemistry and her adorable friendship w his nephew, which was a cute side character. Also the ending with her aunt made me cry.

All of that being said, this had some of the hottest spicy scenes I’ve ever read. And I’ve read a lot, like way too many erotica books. This book had so many good ones that I shamelessly reread, for scientific reasons.

I also love that she isn’t a stick thin blonde, and her softness and cellulite is referenced in a non-shaming way.
Overall, this is an extremely long, cheesy, kinda fast-burn cowboy brothers RH with very steamy spice and HEA, that I recommend for any thirsty reverse-harem readers.

3rd read October 2024: A very long, but still very good RH novel! Love all the cowboys ♥️

Re-read october 2021: still one of the best RH books I’ve read. Little to no drama, intriguing storyline, yummy men, quirky female, just an overall fantastic book!

Wow! That was a long delightful ride! I really enjoyed how fleshed out the characters were. I had the idea I really knew the guys and could predict all their reactions to certain situations. They were all very distinct individuals and they have all won me over in their own ways. And...there was plenty of steam and schmexy scenes! Really loved this RH book and will definitely check out other books by this author!!

Safety:
- OW: an ex of 1 of the H’s confronts h at a carnival. h takes care of her. No other OW.
- No OM
- No cheating (but RH, so h is with 5 men)
- No separation / no third act break up
- Deals with cancer (of side character)

One of the best reverse harem book out there!

This is one of my favorite go to re read books! I have read this book over and over again. It's starts off with the lead character doing a favor for her older aunt. Her aunt has asked her to be a love in maid for her while she is away for surgery. The lead female character is in no means a sweet quite woman. She's a wild in your face don't think I won't stand up to you kinda gal. Love love love her!! There are five guys that love at the ranch, all brothers. She has to put up with their craziness without falling in love with each of them. So of course that doesn't happen! I will continue to reread this book until my phone explodes!

This was a fun, sexy read. Filled with humor from the get go.

Vieve does a favor for her aunt but in the end it was her loving aunt that did her the favor. I must admit that I did get a little mixed up in parts but then again, with 5 hot cowboys and 1 sassy woman ... of course it will be a bit chaotic at times.

All in all, an enjoyable RH
