Escape to the Diamond Back Ranch with the steamy new grumpy x sunshine small town cowboy romance that will leave you breathless. . .
When Lottie Wright is made redundant from her London law firm graduate job, and finds out that her banker boyfriend Kyle is cheating on her, she gets the hell out of Dodge and straight on a plane to Jackson Hole. Her plan is to get back in the saddle at her cousin Lil’s ranch, the Diamond Back, on the edge of the Grand Teton National Park.
Drowning her sorrows in a honky-tonk bar in Jackson Hole, things get steamy with a scrumptious cowboy called Cole and nothing seems to be going right once she realises he works at Diamond Back too - meaning their tension must be strictly business. . . And once on the ranch Lottie is thrown into the arms of bull-rider Beau who just can't seem to find a shirt to wear for all his rope-throwing.
So, under the vast western starry skies and in the shadow of the wild Rocky Mountains, Lottie must take the reins and figure out just who she wants to be and who will win her heart. . .
Lottie finds herself fired from her job in London and to top it off, then catches her boyfriend cheating. The only thing she can do is catch a flight to her cousins ranch in Wyoming to get away from it all.
The cover and sprayed edges of this book are so pretty, it’s what drew me in and made me want to read it, and the fact it’s a cowboy book of course.
I didn’t enjoy the start of the book being set in London, I just wanted Lottie to hurry up and get to the ranch already, for such a short book it felt like a very slow start. I was hoping once she arrived at the ranch I’d enjoy it more. Unfortunately I didn’t. I wanted to really love this book but I struggled to want to pick it up and read, it just didn’t hold my attention. When I was reading, sometimes I found my mind wandering off elsewhere because I was bored then I had to go back and reread because I had no idea what was going on, oops. There were a few parts that I did enjoy, but not much. I couldn’t connect to any of the characters either as much as I tried. It seemed like every time Lottie and Cole tried to get ‘close’ someone would turn up or something would happen and get in the way and it got super annoying.
I really didn’t want to dnf this one so I plodded on until the end but it was painfully slow. I felt like it was lacking something for me personally. I don’t think the writing style or plot was for me unfortunately and I don’t think I’ll be reading the rest of the series. It’s no chestnut springs but if you’re a cowboy fan I’d recommend a read though, it may be for you.
I wish we would have got Cole’s pov throughout the whole book rather than as a bonus chapter right at the end. I didn’t really see the point and I think I would have enjoyed it more.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a nice, easy read. I do love a cowboy romance and this was giving Chestnut Springs vibes. It was fast paced and I wish it had been longer. After reading this book I want to hop on a plane to cowboy country. I loved all of the characters and I cannot wait for the next instalment.
Thank you to Netgalley for the e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
SLOWBURN WAS NOT IN THE ROOM😡En omg mind you dit zijn volwassen mensen! Maar ze waren ZO kinderachtig😭 Ik kan echt blijven ranten over dit boek, maarja misschien is het wel iets voor jou! Vooral als je van instant love houd.
Thank you to NetGalley, Gemma Morr and the publishers for this ARC!
This was a cosy cowboy romance, following our FMC, Lottie, a London native who is made redundant from her not to great job, and shortly after finds out her current partner is cheating on her (boo Kyle!). This leads her to leave the UK to visit her family ranch, Diamond Back Ranch, in the wonderful Wyoming. Here we meet Lil, Lottie’s cousin who now runs the ranch, alongside her ranch hands; and our MMC, Cole the cowboy 🤠.
I do feel like the odd character sometimes came across as two dimensional, especially our MMC Cole, but I think this might have been as the majority of the book was written in Lottie’s POV, and we then got a Cole POV bonus chapter which I did feel felt a bit thrown in there at the end.
I think there could have been a bit more time to help build depth not only to our main characters and supporting characters, but also the rival ranch storyline. It felt a little rushed at times, and not a lot of tension happening to make me feel like there was actual tension between the ranches.
I enjoyed the setting of this book and I especially enjoyed that this book actually started off in a completely different country to where the main plot happens, which I felt helped open the story up more.
This was an easy and very fast read for me, it was a short read but still enjoyable. If you’re hoping for cosy cowboy vibes with low stakes, look no further 🙂↕️
Untamed Heart follows Lottie, who is made redundant and cheated on within in the space of a few days, so escapes to Diamond Back Ranch in Wyoming where she used to holiday as a child to visit her cousin. While she’s there she reconnects with with her family, learns to find her purpose away from her corporate job and of course falls for a hot cowboy.
The setting, characters and found family here were all wonderful. The ranch and all of the rodeo, camping, swimming and riding moments gave the story a very cosy and relaxing summery vibe. I really liked both Lottie and Cole and I’d love to see more from Lil, Jesse, Hestia and Bailey so hopefully there are more books planned in this universe.
Something I rarely say about a book but that definitely applies here is that I wanted it to be longer. I think all the relationships and plot lines, especially the conflict with a neighbouring ranch, just needed more time to develop. I would have appreciated more time spent building tension and setting up the emotional connection between Lottie and Cole. With the story being fully in Lottie’s POV until the bonus chapter I didn’t feel like I was able to get to know Cole as well as I would have liked to in the time we had.
Still, I really enjoyed Untamed Heart and would read from this author again. I’d love to see this book become a series and to see more of Diamond Back Ranch in the future!
Thank you to Pan Macmillan for the e-ARC of Untamed Heart in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
This was a sweet cowboy romance following Lottie, a city girl who returns to her family’s Wyoming ranch after life in London takes a turn, losing her job and finding out her boyfriend has been unfaithful. It was an easy, light-hearted read with a charming setting and a classic small-town feel. The romance had some lovely moments, and the slower pace suited the story’s cosy, comforting vibe. I enjoyed the themes of second chances, reconnecting with your roots, and finding unexpected love in familiar places. Overall, it was a good read with a heartwarming story and an enjoyable sense of escape.
Untamed Heart by Gemma Morr Pub date: 14/08 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you NetGalley, Pan MacMillan and Gemma Morr for the ARC of Untamed Heart in a form of an e-book. If you enjoyed Lyla Sage & Elsie Silver books, then this book is certainly for you! 🤠
I read this book in less than 48 hours and my only wish was for it to be a bit longer! It’s an easy read that will help you relax and forget about the world around you. What’s different in Untamed Heart, compared to other cowboy romance books I read, is only one POV. We follow our FMC Lottie, who needs a break from London and escapes to her family’s ranch in Wyoming.
I enjoyed the writing style and I was immersed in the story from the 1st chapter. There is a good level of spice but nothing too overwhelming. The main gang that we meet is absolutely loveable and I hope we get to read their stories too 🤞🏼
It’s a must read for all cowboy romance lovers out there!
This book follows Lottie (MFC) as she is made redundant & catches her boyfriend cheating all within 24 hours, so she decides to escape to the countryside & her parents home, however upon travelling there she changes trains & on impulse jumps on a plane to visit her cousin instead who lives on a ranch in Wyoming, here she meets Cole (MMC). & so their journey begins...
I loved the London backstory / setting the scene chapters giving texture to the storyline, but once Lottie got to ranch life the plot seemed to be a bit rushed which effected the substance of the plot - i.e. would of been nice to learn more about the feuding ranches, or even a couple chapters written in Coles POV.
Overall an easy read, & good story, just I think it could of given the reader more.
‘Untamed Heart’ is een cowboy romance die ik mocht lezen voor @uitgeverijdefontein . Het was lang geleden dat ik een ranchverhaal had opgepakt, dus ik keek hier echt naar uit!
Het verhaal wordt verteld vanuit het perspectief van Lottie. Lottie is een personage dat je snel in je hart sluit. Ik vind het oprecht mooi hoe ze, ondanks haar eigen situatie, Lil wil helpen met de ranch.
Het leven op een ranch zoals die van Lil? Dat lijkt me echt heerlijk!
A rocky start but boy did i have a good time!! Lovedddd most of all her relationship with the ranch,, the horses, the freedom of all that space!! It was really lovely!! The romance felt a little rushed but it is a short book so i kinda expected it. Really enjoyed all the found/family, Jesse u will always be famous 🫶🏻
I’m SOOOOOO locked in for Hestia & Jesse in the next book tho heeeheee
3.5⭐️ We all love a cowboy romance don’t we? I really loved Lottie and how she handled all the things that were thrown at her. I also really liked Cole and his longing was excellent.
I would’ve loved to seen more of lottie and liv together to see how they interacted, i also felt like the conflict was resolved quite quickly and would’ve wanted to see more of that!
This was a serious cute read. It was like hearted, fast paced and really refreshing. Nothing too deep or triggering, a book anyone can enjoy! Little hints of spice, but nothing that would have you blushing.
The concept of a corporate Londoner heading over to cowboy country hooked me. It definitely dips into all us UK readers Riley Green day dreams of ditching our grey sky and concrete jungles and shipping off to ride a cowboy … horse. Ride a horse, on a ranch.
Enjoyable read and well written. Looking forward to seeing what this author releases next 📚
Nice easy cowboy romance, loved Cole! Very predictable but it was nice and short under 250 pages which was a nice change. I liked how it wasn’t too dragged out but I was a lil bit bored.
Read the book not the audio and had to skip the last 100 pages🥱😴This book should be serving 25 years in prison with no parole for being criminally fucking boring.
Don’t waste your time on this one. Read or reread one of Silver’s latest offerings instead.
Surprisingly, I was enjoying more when she was in London than in the ranch. I didn't feel any chemistry between the main characters. Overall, I thought this book was boring.
