All Ellie Harris wanted was a life of her own.

In a shortsighted decision, she follows her high school boyfriend to college, only to get cheated on and then dumped. And to add insult to injury, her overprotective family is suddenly clinging to her again, fighting to control every part of her life.

Bad luck follows her hasty decision and when her roommate steals her identity and leaves town, Ellie is left to clean up a gigantic mess.

Fin Hunter insists Ellie owes him seven thousand dollars from an online poker game and he won't stop until he collects it. Determined to keep her family out of her life, Ellie agrees to work for Fin in his illegal online poker operation. He's given her six weeks to pay off the debt.

Soon sparks are flying between them and the only thing keeping her from falling for him is the debt she still owes and the money she doesn't have.

At the end of those six weeks, Ellie will have to pay the mistaken debt or bet that her feelings for Fin will be worth more than the money.

This book was previously titled Bet in the Dark.

Rachel is AMAZING at writing YA love stories. That's what this book is. Amazing.

It's full of sweetness, with a side of cocky, snarky, and realness. This book could absolutely happen in the real world. I LOVED Ellie. She was sweet and MORAL and normal. The only time I wanted to slap her was near the end, but of course that was the point. We were watching this play out, as the reader knowing that she wasn't right, but just knew that all would be well in short time. And the 'come back together' scene? So original and different. I expected the big blow-up, the angry yelling, the bumping into each other months and months later and doing the awkward dance. Those have been done so many times, and yes, I expected it here. But it wasn't like that. I was so pleasantly surprised that when the time came for that scene, it was done so differently. Just like this couple. They aren't a normal couple and don't operate like one, but they love each other like one. Very original. And she wasn't some annoying girl who did all these stupid things and she wasn't torn between two guys. When Colton kept popping up, I wondered if she'd start to have mixed feelings, but the girl was fantastically smitten with Fin.

And Fin. Wow. I thought he was going to be a jerk half the book and he was to a certain degree, a small degree, but for the most part, he was swoony in all sorts of sweet ways. And once he decided he wanted Ellie, forget about it. He was relentlessly smitten himself. I loved watching it all unfold between these two. He was sexy, cocky and one of the most amazing book boys ever. You'll find out why he was so amazing near the end of the book. Family men are the sexiest men that I read about. The way he wanted Ellie and still wanted to do what he needed to do made him that much more awesome.

The other great thing about this book was the family and friends. Her brothers were awesome. I loved them. Her whole family was awesome and it was nice to watch her really realize that throughout the book.

And it's totally setting up a sequel for her friend, Britte's story and one of the brothers. Can't wait for that one!

Now, Rachel is an amazing and super sweet chick, and I'm gonna be a pit bull for a minute on her behalf. I read some reviews that took off stars because Ellie was a virgin in college. YOU SHOULD CONGRATULATE HER!! Not put her down because of it. Being a virgin isn't this awful thing that some people make it out to be. If that's the case, then I wouldn't recommend any of my books either. There's a time and place for everything. If Ellie wasn't a virgin, this great dynamic of the story, that Ellie had never felt real love (other than family love) and didn't even like to kiss because she had never been kissed properly, wouldn't have been so potent and plausible. So open your minds and don't be so harsh on things without thinking it through. We should read books for the amazing story, not whether the book has sex in it or not, and not because you think a virgin in college isn't possible. My favorite stories of all time are YA books that the romance is sweet and amazing. There wasn't a lick of sex. It wasn't needed to get the point across. So look back to when you first started reading and remember what it was like to just sink into a story that made you never want to stop reading it and has a point and a mission to make you see something important within the story. Don't be so consumed with what's not in the story. :)

6 wonderful, v-card proud, awesomely swoonworthy, original, lovey dovey stars from me.

I stopped reading at 79%. I just couldn't do it anymore.

When I first started reading it, I was hooked. The plot line was great and the characters started out interesting. I overlooked the overuse of exclamation points (!!!!!!!!!!!) and carried on.

But then, I got to know Ellie. She's great on the surface, but she's awful when you dig deep. She's one of those girls who constantly complains that she's not pretty, but she's harping on it so much that it becomes obvious she just wants compliments. Which is odd considering it's mostly internal dialogue, though there are times she says it to Britte. She also LOVES to bring up how Fin is used to girls throwing themselves, so she's not going to. It becomes unauthentic when we're being constantly reminded how different you are. Makes me feel like she's not actually that way, but she's just trying to BE that way.

She's horrible to her family. HORRIBLE. Her mom seems so sweet and so does her dad. Her brothers are overprotective brothers, but they aren't ridiculous. Fin had to actually convince her that her brothers loved her.. uh I think that's obvious. She doesn't want help from her family for tuition or rent/bills but yet she only has a partial scholarship and works part time. Furthermore, I don't understand why she won't accept help from her family because, other than her brothers, her parents aren't overbearing at all. It just made no sense to me.

Let's talk about the debt. What idiot would try to pay that? And if you were going to, how about you try to make the money? I didn't see her doing anything to get it. Fin kept trying to drop the bet because he developed feelings for her and wanted to be with her, but she said she'd feel like a prostitute? WTF? That doesn't even make sense.

Then there is her ex-boyfriend. I never thought I'd say this, but I don't blame him for cheating on her. They were together for three YEARS and never slept together. Now that is totally fine if you're waiting for marriage or you guys have an understanding or whatever. Her excuse? Because she wanted to wait until she really, truly loved someone. Seriously?! I'm sure that made him feel real freakin fantastic. I'm pretty sure her virginity was written in just so we can have that virgin cliche. It was dumb and unnecessary.

Fin was a pretty good guy. I never got the manwhore vibe from him, regardless of what we were told. I don't get why he kept holding her to the bet when it become really obvious it wasn't her. It's kind of a dick move when you hold her to it just for the money.

Overall, I don't recommend this book. You may get sucked into it in the beginning like I did, but it's hard as hell to finish. Very unfortunate because I like Britte and Beckett and would've moved on to their book. Now? Not so sure I will.

All the disgusting double standards that I hate were right on display in this book.

I pray every day that I don't have to deal with this stupidity anymore, but once every couple of weeks I read novels by authors who think these double standards are acceptable.

I can see a lot of people loving this. Especially who like slow burn in slow romances with Innocent FMC and Kind MMC!

It just wasn't for me.

So, I really enjoyed this one. It’s a lighthearted, conflict-free romance that had me smiling quite a bit. Ellie and Fin had great chemistry together; I loved their banter and friendship. Ellie comes home one day to realize her crazy roommate has taken off with all of her belongings. Just as this is sinking in Fin shows up claiming Ellie owes him seven thousand dollars from an online poker game. He doesn’t believe that it was actually her roommate that stole her identity to enter the game. He can tell she doesn’t have the money so offers her to come work as his assistant in order to buy her time to get the money to him. I did keep expecting a little more drama, but aside from coming up with the seven grand there wasn’t really any conflict, just a sweet story of how they fall in love.

I liked Ellie quite a bit. While she was obviously attracted to Fin, she didn’t let that totally drop her guard around him and he actually has to work to win her over. I also liked that she was trying so hard to be independent from her family. I got that she was a poor college student, but I was a little surprised she didn’t raise more money by the end of the six weeks. I also thought she didn’t really try to raise any money, never picked up extra work or anything. I also thought her ex got kinda a bad rap for nothing. Aside from cheating on her (which wasn't surprising considering how she treated him) he seemed like a decent guy. More of a platonic relationship, but I never understood why they all thought he treated her so badly??

Fin was great. I don’t like players, but he seems like a decent guy at heart, maybe more of a flirt than a true player. I could be wrong though. He definitely changes for Ellie though and it was fun to see how she comes in and totally shakes up his life. I love how he actually had to work to win her over and to watch him fall in love with her.

I really think if it weren’t for the content I would have easily given this five stars. However, there is quite a bit of language, like a lot. There is also quite a bit of innuendo, at times it did feel their relationship was solely based on lust and really for a relationship to last it has to have more to it than that. They do have some sweet moments though and I think overtime it does grow into something more.

Overall, a super cute read that just needed to be cleaned up a bit. I liked the side characters and hope they get their own books! Check out this great review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Content
Romance: Pretty clean
Language: Moderate, lots of mild swearing (A, B, D, G, S) and crude language.

4.5 stars!

This book was amazing! I love stories where the hero and heroine don't start off on the best foot. Not only do they have an extra edge when it comes to dealing with one another, but the intense chemistry is usually off the charts hot. And Bet on Us was super hot. I love how Ellie and Fin totally danced around one another. Not only was there a large amount of money at the heart of their conflict, but their unwanted attraction to each other that only grew as they spent time together also kept things interesting.

I loved how Ellie pushed all of Fin's buttons. I mean he had no idea where he stood with her. And I loved how Fin kept Ellie on her toes. He pushed her out of her comfort zone and helped her open her eyes to things she was missing, especially with her family. And as much as I understood Ellie's annoyance with her parents and brothers, I absolutely loved them. It's not just that they were over protective of her, but it was clear her brothers absolutely adored her. I am really hoping all of Ellie's brothers get their own books. Even though they weren't always portrayed with the best traits, but I have faith Rachel Higginson can write them in a way, their flaws will become some of their best traits.

Another factor in both Ellie and Fin's favors, besides their families, was their friends. I loved Britte and Jameson, Ellie and Fin's best friends respectively. I loved the surprising story arc between Beckett, Ellie's brother and Britte. I also loved how handsome yet adorable Jameson was with his blushing. I'd love to read more about Jameson as well.

I loved the way this book made me laugh and swoon. The only reason I wasn't able to give it 5 stars is because as fantastic Ellie and Fin's chemistry was and the slow build up between them, when it came time for the fireworks, there were none. Usually the build up leads to sex, and there was none. Not even closed doors and implied sex. Nothing. That felt like a let down, especially since everything seemed to be leading up to it. But I am excited to read Bet on Me! I'll say after four 4.5-5 star reads, Rachel Higginson has become a must read author for me and I've only gotten started with her book list!

I discovered Ms. Higginson a year (or is it two?) ago and I've been wanting to go back and read this book for a while now.  While her newer books have been contemporary romance, this one was new adult.  Can you hear me groaning?  But I chose to read this as part of our Romance Roundabout Challenge and in part I'm glad that I did because I found the story cute and sweet.  But on the other side, I think it is a bit... forgettable.  There wasn't any one thing that hit home with me here like her books usually do.

Ellie is taken for a ride by her college roommate who seems to have had a secret gambling addiction.  She's now in rehab, but left Ellie in more than one trouble.  Her most pressing one?  Fin Hunter shows up on her doorstep claiming she owes him seven grand.  Obviously this was her roommate using her name on a contract with Fin, but he still makes her work for him while giving her some time to come up with the money owed.

The first thing I had an issue with was the setup because I reeeeally had to suspend belief.  Once I put that aside and just tried to focus on the couple then I found their interactions cute and the story passed by fast.

This was a fast read that felt young and maybe not so much my genre.  But even with all that I still managed to enjoy it ok.  Sadly this isn't one of those reads by Ms. Higginson that will stick with me months (years) in the future.

I found it a bit too melodramatic at times. Actually, to be accurate I found Ellie way too melodramatic.
In the beginning, I kinda thought she was a bit overly dramatic but I felt sorry for her. She was in a crappy situation after all.
But as the story unfolded I found her just rather stubborn and way spoilt. I mean she is complaining about money but she was in this spot because of her choices. Which by the way I find ridiculous and selfish.
The way this dealt with money, was a condescending and also the sums aren't small, but in the end, none of it was a big deal. Which took away from the actually quite cute story and the sweetness of Fin, mr. hottie.
So while it was entertaining, it has some rather over the top moments and is also quite cliche.
Still fun read

RATING CLARIFICATION : 3.5 - 4 STARS

I'm not really sure where to start my review of this book. I enjoyed reading this book but it didn't WOW me. I felt like something was missing, but I can't really put my finger in what that is. I was definitely intrigued with the storyline of this book...this was story I hadn't read before. Which I of course found very refreshing. Yes it is a NA book with most of the same components we see in this genre but the storyline was unique in itself. I did notice that this book has been marked as a comedy/humor type book. I really didn't see that in this book. Yes there are some sarcastic comments made that made me giggle but nothing that made me laugh out loud, but that was okay...it didn't take away from the enjoyment of the story. I didn't go into this book expecting it to be a laugh out loud funny book. Based on the synopsis I expected a dramatic romance and that's what we got. I like the writing style of this book and the flow of the story. I think the only real thing that I found difficult with this book was the length of it..I felt it dragged a little bit. I would've liked more of the love story to take center stage or even if the whole poker aspect would have come out more. I felt that some of the stuff we learn at the end of the book could've come out sooner, which would've shorten the book and taken away some if the extra information we didn't really need.

As for the characters in the book...I LOVED Finley Davis Hunter...aka Fin. He definitely made my bbf list and really made this book for me. He is a misunderstood person throughout most of the book, but he is so sweet and caring when he finally opened himself up. My heart melted for the love he had for his family. I can't say to much about that bc it kind gives things away ;). As for Ellie...there was something about her that didn't sit right with me. She wasn't annoying like other heroines we read about but I guess to me she was so up and down. I appreciated the fact that she wanted to be independent and provide for herself. But she was so everything was black and white. She thought that if she let her family help her that she wouldn't be independent. And it was this thinking that got her in the trouble she was in with Fin in the beginning. Plus I didn't understand why she didn't fight harder when she told Fin that the debt that was owed to him wasn't hers. I guess we wouldn't have had a story then..right!! I did enjoy the banter between Fin and Ellie...when she did use her back bone she really gave it to Fin and those moments were really great. I do like that Fin and Ellie took time to get to know each other and progressed as friends before moving into more. I also liked how respectful Fin was to Ellie regarding her virginity. Fin was a player and had been with many women, but it was never about a hookup with Ellie and I loved that. I also liked the people they came out to be at the end of this story.

As for the secondary characters I thought they were fantastic. I really liked Beckett, Lennox, Grayson, Ty, Britte, and Jameson. Each of these characters added such great support to Ellie and Fin. I actually would love to see a story written about all of these characters.. I don't think their stories are over.

I would recommend this book if you are looking for a NA contemporary romance with a different storyline to it. This book was a refreshing change of pace.

Once again, here I am disliking a book mainly because it's new adult. I knew it was when I started reading! It was pretty awful all the way through, but I just...can't...stop!!

Alright. So the plots in NA books are ridiculous for the most part. College age kids are real dumb and make some pretty awful choices. Let's maybe talk about that first? Where to start?? I guess the main thing is that Fin makes Ellie work for him to work off a debt that's not even hers. Okay? I would just be like...ummm no thanks? But Ellie is super stressed about it, and it's a huge huge deal to her, and she acts like Fin might actually break her legs if she doesn't. All the more reason to stay away, eh? As an adult with so much debt, her whole thing about not relying on her family for anything made me want to smack her in the face. A lot. So much. Girl! Let them pay for stuff!!!! I mean, that's really the center of everything. If she wasn't so weird about family, she could have just told them about Tara and her problems from the beginning. But I kind of feel like that is a legit college plot point about wanting to be independent...blah blah blah.

Okay, but let's talk about characters. Both Fin and Ellie are pretty confusing. We have Ellie: pretty naive, but has grown up with three brothers...so not really supposed to be naive? She's constantly terrified of Fin, but she's also supposed to be the sassy girl who isn't afraid to be real. And she's super virginal but isn't completely freaked out when he comes on to her. Also, that whole part when Fin asks her if she loved her ex, and she says something like "we were only together for 3 years! I'm sure you fall in love all the time, but it takes more than a night for me!" And then she falls for him in less than 6 weeks...Uhh....Fin literally says "You're not like any other girls I know." Which we all know is a line that signals all the bullshit. Fin: Bad boy, player, super sensitive, sweet brother/grandson, kind of ragey, totally into Ellie to the point of tricking her into spending time with him and also having his friends be nice to her. It's like we are supposed to think he's a bad boy, but we are also supposed to see that he has a heart of gold. And, okay, these things can be all in one person. But I don't think the author does a great job of it. It more just seems like these two kids have personality disorders or something.

I think the one good point from a plot/writing standpoint is how he helps Ellie see her family it a different light. Everything else is just confusing and most of the book spent with her going back and forth and back and forth and back and forth about letting herself have him. Shit....I totally did that in college. Whatever!

So yeah. I read the whole thing because I sometimes just want to make fun of a book and enjoy a little bit of ridiculous drama. But it wasn't great. I say that, but I've already downloaded the second one. I DON'T KNOW! What's wrong with me???

** DEBBIE'S 5 STAR REVIEW **

This book blew me away!!! I read a majority of this book with a huge smile on my face. The author did a fantastic job! The book flowed and the banter between Fin and Ellie was hysterical and at times hot as hell!!!

The book grabbed me with the first sentence and I seriously could not put this baby down. I love a book that is filled with humor and tons of flirting and this one was defiantly full of it. Lets not forget I am an angst whore and this one had that going on too.

Lets talk about the two main characters for a second. I can not tell you how much I fell head over heels with both of them. I loved Ellie. She had three over protective brothers and she came from a pretty sheltered life until college. She didn’t take crap from anyone except when it came to her family. She let them decide pretty much what was best for her until Fin entered her life.

“Mostly, he was just an obnoxious bastard that wanted me to pay a debt I didn’t owe.”

“He had this tractor beam radiating from him, drawing me to him like a moth to the light, or more accurately, like a stupid mosquito to a deadly bug zapper.”

Finley Hunter was known on campus as your typical college man-whore. The funny thing is that sometimes you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Fin is not only hot but truly is a good guy that protects what is his and doesn’t let anyone in. He had a rough childhood and had to grow up before his time.

“Ellie, I promise you, if you spent the night with me. I wouldn’t have to bargain for your time. You’d come back willingly. Over and over and over.”

When these two got together it is explosive. The chemistry between them is undeniable. Can they leave misunderstandings behind them and be together or will they let circumstances stand in their way? You are going to have to read it to find out.

“Trust me, if there is any sticky substance on your keyboard, it’s not from my pizza.”

“But for whatever reason he has attached himself to me like a tick and I can’t dig him out.”

The secondary characters where great. I loved her three brothers and their protective ways and I would love to read a book or two about them.

“Because as your brother, I feel like it’s my familial duty to inform you that he is not good enough for you. He’s a whore, a borderline alcoholic and a-“scoundrel?” I butted in, “A dirty, rotten scoundrel?”

This book was brilliantly written. If you are looking for a story that will have you smiling and laughing than click this baby. You will not be disappointed.

Ellie Harris just found out her college roommate has stolen her identity and her furniture. A hot college guy, Fin Hunter, is at her dorm asking for seven thousand dollars that supposedly she owes him. The money is from an online poker game. Ellie has no idea how to play poker and can't believe her roommate has done this to her. She agrees to pay part of it to Fin by working for him until she can get the rest of the money.

Everyone in college knows Fin. This includes a couple of her overprotective brothers. Ellie wants to be independent. She has refused help from her parents and her brothers before. She has no idea how to pay back the money she owes Fin especially when he tells her what the money is for.

Ellie and Fin become close and the more time they spend together, the more they want to be together.

This is a YA book. It had me laughing from the first chapter. I liked the story. The heroine is not damaged and she has great brothers. I wonder if they are getting their own story, especially Beckett.

"He groaned as if frustrated and then whispered almost so quietly I didn't hear him, "I'm going to keep you."

I feel like I'm a broken record when I say that I keep seeing these recommendations on social media, but it's true and it's a great platform for the avid reader to find some great books. I mean there are so many authors nowadays that use social media to spread their books far and wide. Anyway the point I'm trying to make is that I found this book whilst scrolling through Facebook. There was a lot of hype surrounding it so it intrigued me enough to download.

The title Bet On Us doesn't seem to go with the plot. I don't know why because there is the element of gambling in the story. The whole reason Fin Hunter and Ellie Harris "meet" is through Ellie 'unknowingly' losing seven grand in an online poker game that Fin just so happens to own. So why I feel this way about the title is beyond me, but there you have it. To me it doesn't relate.

When I started this book I wasn't convinced I was going to enjoy it, don't get me wrong, the blurb pulled me in but by the third chapter, not so much. It had a very young feel to it which normally doesn't bother me, I do read some YA, however the first few chapters felt childish and unbelievable. I wasn't sure at this point that I wanted to continue, but I hate not finishing a book I've started and so I continued.....and I'm pleasantly surprised to find I actually really enjoyed it.

Once I'd got over the attitude of Fin and the naivety of Ellie, I really liked it. It's still very much YA and the sex is tame in comparison to what I normally read, but then this isn't erotica and I'm glad. It wouldn't have gone with the story in my opinion.

Going back to the characters, as I said Fins attitude really grated on me at first, the Jekyll and Hyde routine got on my nerves. One minute happy, the next, full of rage and directed at Ellie. There wasn't any violence, no abuse, just his attitude. Ellie was the kind of girl you love to hate. Her personality reads like every down and out - but not really due to the rich parents - college student, wants her own independence, feels suffocated by family, yada, yada, yada. I wanted to punch her.

However the story progressed and blossomed and became a story of love and that one person that just gets you. Once that feeling hit me, I was hooked. Towards the end I loved the characters.

I'd most definitely recommend this book and I'll definitely keep an eye out for other works by this author.

Happy Reading :-)

Definitely a fun, fulfilling chick flick type story. Started out absolutely fabulous, I was hooked right away. I was leery of Fin, probably b/c Ellie was, but once I learned more about him, I wanted to marry him (assuming my husband would agree to the polygamy). He was unbelievably sexy, ridiculously sweet and I loved his moments of uncertainty with Ellie. And then to hear his backstory...*sniff* I just love that boy. Ellie started off really adorable, I enjoyed her innocence and sweetness mixed with this fiery spirit. She was hard to continue to adore though...don't get me wrong, I still love Ellie. But man she got on my nerves after awhile. I wished she could have grown a bit more and come to her own conclusions with Fin instead of having the problem sort of solved for her, you know?? I did love how much happiness we got....you know, like lots of the kissing and dating and awesomeness, even if they were still working out what they were to each other.

This one was a bit more typo-y than usual for Ms. Higginson. I honestly expected the "sEconds" thing to have a hidden meaning, b/c it was repeated almost every time she wrote that word...I think instead of fixing that mistake, she should weave in an epilogue with its hidden meaning revealed, and we can make t-shirts and have a little club. The other major typo that drove me insane was when she originally (for the first part of the book) spelled Finley "Finely"....I thought perhaps she meant it, but then it was right at the end. And I couldn't help but wonder if it was supposed to be pronounced like it was spelled?? Luckily Ms. Higginson writes such an enjoyable story that she can get away with it a bit more than others....

Ok, this is quite the diamond in the ruff. What I anticipated to be a book of mystery and intensity was actually a very sweet and magnificent love story. Fin Hunter is not dark and deadly, and Ellie is not your innocent by standard. Now I don't mean that she actually owes this money, but this girl has enough spice and sass to light a forest fire. I love both of these characters, and actually I loved all of the remaining cast as well. That is with the exception of her last boyfriend. Even though Ellie family is overprotective and nos, but I can't help but love them for it. It is easy to feel the camaraderie and love pouring out of this family. While it is frustrating and overwhelming for her it is easy to see that she is diamond, and put on a pedestal as such should be. These brothers will walk through hell's fires before they let anything happen to her, but her pride is also reassuring. It is nice to see that she does not take advantage of this position. It would have been easy to fall on the promise of love and money to save her from this precarious situation, but she is a fighter and proves it. Overall, I just really love this story it was a laugh out loud story, and it was impossible to turn away from the onslaught of emotion and romance pouring from these pages. Rachel Higginson has caught my eye, and I will be looking for more.

This was a cute YA romance story without a ton of angst. Refreshing change of pace to see main character, Ellie, have a great relationship with her family and loved reading about her overprotective brothers. I enjoyed the interaction between Ellie and Fin and the sliw building romance. There were some parts of the story where I thought the author could have expanded on the storyline a little more and other parts where I thought some of the story could have been left out.

For the record, this book is a clean NA save for the really hot makeout sessions.

Why oh why did I only introduce myself to Rachel Higginson's works so late? I am honestly hooked!

I tried to connect to this one, but I could not. I picked this book up at least five times, but the characters just did not work for me. The premise sounded so good, but as I read, I found myself bored.

My opinion. You may love it.

A sweet and humorous story, loved it! Rachel Higginson makes not only the main characters likeable and intriguing but the other characters as well, making me want to know all of their stories too.

Bet on Us by Rachel Higginson is a angsty and comedic college romance story that I absolutely adore. Fin Hunter has a cocky attitude that I could not get enough of. He is a sexy big-hearted hero that I've officially added into my list of All Time Favorite Book Boyfriends. Ellie is also one of my favorite heroines , even though her stubbornness did frustrate me at times. Ellie's quick wit and sarcasm were hilarious additions to this story, especially when her comments were directed at her brothers. I enjoyed everything about these characters and this story. I've already one-clicked both the Kindle edition and audible add-on for Bet on Me, the second standalone in this series.

Me encantó, me encantó!!

I feel I've become soft with my ratings. Take them with caution.

Edit
Demoted to 3 stars. I just remembered the female leads hypocrisy. Her constant selfish whining for independence and freedom as she refused to take any control. Actually she was quite frustrating in many ways.

I have a million complaints about this book....however, I did not DNF and it held my interest, so that is something.
Honestly, I really liked Fin. He held the book.
I found Ellie to be annoying because honestly, no one would ever allow themselves in her predicament. But....Fin kept me reading.
