3.5 stars - I really liked this book! It was an easy, enjoyable read with a story that kept me interested throughout. I especially liked the writing style and thought the ending was wrapped up nicely. There were just a couple of things that didn’t quite land for me, mainly some character choices and how quickly the relationship developed. Overall, I enjoyed reading it.

“It’s all about me now, and going for what I want.”

We follow Anika who as her 30s start is in hospital following a health scare. This experience has her questioning her life and if she has really and truly been living to the fullest. She begins to write things in her childhood diary and soon realises whatever she writes comes true, leading her to write and literally manifest her dream life into fruition. She leans into this new life, with no hesitation, documenting her hearts true desires and possibilities. But at what cost?

Anika as a character was at times doing silly things and I kinda began to get annoyed with her self sabotage/I can do whatever I want attitude. She truly began to get obsessed with manifesting and losing sight of real life friendships and relationships.

I did enjoy the slow burn romance and her scenes with Cam 🌶️
It had me questioning do we manifest or do we trick ourselves into being confident and going for what we want after writing a plan? Can we really control our fate?

Personally for me it was slightly too long (430 pages), after 70% it fell really flat and lost momentum, it started to drag slightly.

This book made me laugh out loud, blush, yell with rage…all the feels.

Anika receives a life-changing call that propels her to upturn her life after her 30th birthday. Her career, friendships, family and love life do a complete 180 as a result, in a short space of time. She firmly believes that the manifestations and affirmations she writes in her journal are coming true, and in her effort to whip all of the above into shape, we go on a whirlwind ride of self-discovery and transformation with her.

Sareeta Domingo, the literary goddess that you were - you will be missed. Thank you for writing the healthiest, most emotionally-mature, regulated and secure Black book boyfriend. I love Cam Kwame Asiedu.

What a trip!
I thought this was a time travel book based on the blurb...so was pleasantly surprised.

I enjoyed the possibility of Anika and Kwame/Cam circling the backdrop of that night. The tension was surreal. My reminder to go find my young adult diaries.
