An exciting installment, this second volume features plenty of action, a fun plot, and fabulous artwork. Some of this I remember from watching the anime recently, though I'm only two episodes into it. (So, SHH! No spoilers!) Better yet, the sultry content is toned down from the previous outing. I have the third installment on hand, but, with all the libraries closed, I don't know when or if I can get my hands on the ones after that.

As shown in the show Diavel dies trying to get the bonus you receive from defeating the boss. Kirito comes in and takes over as “boss” and the whole party was able to defeat the the first floor boss. It’s just as fascinating as the show just goes more in depth on what occurs and more information that wasn’t included in the show.

Second tome de la série et seconde bonne lecture. Du fait des combats en nombre, ou qui durent un moment, ce tome se lit rapidement. Les phases de combat ont beau être majoritaire, pendant ces passages, les échanges sont toujours d'actualité vu qu'on retrouve des personnages qui dialoguent afin de parler stratégie notamment, mais pas que. L'univers de SAO, surtout l'aspect jeu de rôles, continue de s'épaissir et si dans ce tome les personnages se dévoilent moins, on peut noter une petite évolution dans leurs rapports. Un tome peut-être moins intéressant que le premier à cause justement du manque de développement au niveau des personnages et de l'histoire, je reste assez familière avec les informations liées à ce qui touche au jeu en lui-même et donc je n'ai pas appris grand-chose. Mais, je l'ai bien apprécié et l'univers me plaît toujours autant.

Another great in-depth perspective on a show I've previously seen. The plots match, but these novels go into way more detail. I appreciate characters more, and love the new ones not seen in the show. Rarely, I'll find a hard-to-read art panel during an action scene. Great tension and conflict. One of the downsides to manga is a reliance on art to lay the environment out for readers. I have the advantage of remembering the color visuals from the show to enhance my imagination, but I can see this as an obstacle for first-time readers.

Stort diffwrs a bit from that told in the light novel, although some facts are better adapted to the manga style. It is a very entertained complement to the novel story. More centered in Asuna as the nain character, so it is really entertaining!

Quelle surprise lorsque j’ai trouvé dans ma boîte à lettres ce second tome de SAOP ! J’étais tellement impatiente que je n’avais pas encore passé la porte d’entrée que déjà je l’avais commencé. Merci beaucoup aux éditions Ototo pour cet envoi ! J’en suis ravie ! Attention, ne lisez cette chronique que si vous avez déjà terminé le 1er tome !!
À la fin du 1er tome, nous laissions nos héros dans une situation critique où leurs vies étaient en jeu. Le boss final du 1er niveau s’est avéré beaucoup plus coriace que ceux à quoi ils s’attendaient et leur leader vient de périr. Que faire ? Fuir et abandonner tous les autres ? Ou rester et combattre au péril de leur vie ?
Kirito et Asuna se trouvent dans une position bien fâcheuse. Le boss du 1er niveau est fort, beaucoup trop fort même pour eux seuls. Mais ils ne peuvent plus reculer. Abandonner revient à rester encore plus longtemps coincé dans cette réalité virtuelle. Mais mourir dans le jeu revient aussi à mourir dans la vraie vie. C’est quitte ou double. Que vont décider nos deux héros ? Oseront-ils aller au devant du danger ?
La suite dépendra de leur réussite… ou de leur échec. Alors pour s’assurer la victoire, il n’y a qu’une seule solution : s’améliorer et progresser dans le jeu. Asuna va avoir l’occasion de nous montrer tous ses talents d’épéiste aux côtés de Kirito, un personnage toujours aussi drôle et attachant. Kirito est un bêta-testeur. À ce titre, son aide s’avèrera particulièrement précieuse pour avancer. Mais il lui faudra gagner la confiance des autres joueurs, certains le suspectant de vouloir s’approprier tous les bonus à leur détriment. Jalousie, animosité, rejet, Kirito, malgré ses talents, ne sera pas forcément l’adhésion. Heureusement qu’Asuna est là pour l’accompagner. Bien qu’étant deux joueurs solo, c’est en équipe que nos deux héros seront les plus efficaces. Combien de temps vont-ils progresser ensemble dans le jeu ?
Que dire, si ce n’est que ce 2ème tome était beaucoup trop court ? SAOP est une série vraiment addictive que j’apprécie énormément. Les pages défilent les unes après les autres à une telle vitesse que ce n’est qu’une fois arrivée à la fin que je me suis rendue compte de mon avancement. Reki Kawahara et Kiseki Himura nous plongent encore une fois dans une réalité virtuelle sans nous laisser le temps une seule seconde de reprendre notre souffle. Impossible de ne pas s’attacher aux différents personnages qui font leur apparition dans le récit !
Les aventures de nos deux héros sont toujours aussi palpitantes et nous permettent d’en apprendre plus progressivement sur cet univers riche et complexe. Très peu d’éléments nous sont fournis sur leur vie réelle et seules quelques bribes d’informations sont lâchées ici ou là dans le livre, ce qui n’a fait qu’attiser ma curiosité !
Ce deuxième tome de SAOP est une réussite ! L’histoire est de plus en plus addictive et les personnages sont toujours aussi attachants. Se lisant beaucoup trop vite tant il est prenant, ce tome-ci continue de poser les bases d’un univers qui s’annonce aussi riche qu’intéressant. Une fois refermé, je n’ai eu qu’une seule envie : me jeter sur la suite. Malheureusement, il va me falloir attendre sa sortie ! C’est dur !!

In Summary
Progressive continues to deliver a strong storyline with artwork to match. In addition to showing Asuna’s development as a fighter, we also see players organizing the beginnings of the guilds as they proceed through Aincrad’s Floor 2. Interestingly, the plot includes more early interaction between Asuna and Kirito. Although that deviates somewhat from the beater/solo fighter persona Kirito had in the anime, Asuna/Kirito fans will probably enjoy seeing Kirito’s early attraction to Asuna.
The Review
As in the anime, the battle with the first floor boss ends with Diavel dead and Kirito dubbed a beater. However, Progressive puts its own spin on the fight. For one, Asuna takes more of a commanding role, showing hints of the guild leader she’s going to become. For another, the emotional aftermath is more complicated. Interestingly, sourpuss Kibaou, who started the beta/cheater/beater uproar against Kirito in the anime, winds up sympathizing with him in this scene. Kirito and Asuna still have a private conversation before Kirito goes off on his own, but Progressive’s version is more prolonged and has a distinct romantic tension to it.
Going into Chapter 008, it’s all completely new material. Both the Aincrad manga and the anime gloss over Floor 2, but we get to watch events progress gradually even as Asuna gradually improves. She’s not the only one having to sort herself out in the early days of SAO, though. Chapter 009 provides a glimpse of the beginnings of the guilds, and at this point, they’re a lot of fancy names and swagger and not much else.
Overall, the tone on Floor 2 is much lighter than I anticipated. Perhaps that’s because the only fight thus far is against a field boss that looks like a big bull. When the players take it on, they seem more concerned with who gets the glory of being on the front rather than the risk of a fatal hit. As such, it really does feel more like a “game” rather than the constant life/death struggle of Aincrad, especially when Asuna and Kirito compete to see who can take out the most windwasps for shortcake.
Asuna’s continued interactions with Kirito are also a surprise. The anime and Aincrad made it seem like the two didn’t cross paths again until Asuna had joined the Knights of the Blood, but in Progressive, they meet again days after clearing Level I. The two have a great rapport, and while Asuna is intrigued by Kirito, he’s obviously besotted by her. For those who were not so thrilled with the harem aspect of the SAO anime, this version of Asuna and Kirito’s early relationship might prove an enjoyable alternative.
Extras include the title page and table of contents in color, bonus illustration from artist Tomoya Haruno, and closing remarks from the creators.

Sie sind gefangen in einem Spiel und das Einzige was ihnen bleibt, ist zu kämpfen. Es wird ein Kampf um Leben und Tod, aber sie haben keine Zeit Trübsal zu blasen, denn 100 Ebenen liegen vor ihnen. Damit sie wieder in ihr altes, wohlbehütetes Leben zurückkommen. Die erste Hürde haben sie fast geschafft, denn sie haben einen Beta-Tester an ihrer Seite, also kann ja gar nichts schief gehen.
Die Gilde tritt gegen den ersten Boss an und sind sich zu sicher, dass alles so ist wie in der Beta. Doch etwas läuft schief und der Anführer bezahlt mit seinem Leben. Alle sind geschockt, doch sie dürfen nicht aufgeben, sonst werden sie “Sword Art Online” niemals verlassen können.
Kirito und Asuna ergreifen die Initiative. Sie sind ein unschlagbares Team und nehmen es mit dem Boss der ersten Ebene auf. Die Gilde unterstützt sie tatkräftig, doch wird es reichen und werden sie siegreich ins nächste Abenteuer starten können?
Meine Meinung
Ich liebe die Reihe von “Sword Art Online”. Der Zeichenstil ist wirklich schön anzusehen, jugendlich und doch erwachsen zugleich. Man blättert nicht einfach nur schnell durch, sondern schaut sie sich genauer an, weil sie so schön gelungen sind. Das geht mir nicht bei jedem Manga so.
Die beiden Hauptcharaktere Kirito und Asuna, sind wirklich sehr süß miteinander, man darf ihnen dabei zusehen, wie sie sich kennen lernen und auch näherkommen. Aber auch die Nebencharaktere gehen nicht in der Geschichte unter. Man lernt diese genauso kennen, lernt sie mögen oder für unsympathisch erachten, es macht eine Menge Spaß die Mangas zu lesen.
Zwischen actionreichen Abenteuern und einer wirklich sehr süßen Liebesgeschichte, findet man allerhand facettenreiche Figuren und eine fantastische Welt, die man einfach kennen lernen muss. Ich kann nicht nur den Manga, sondern auch die Anime-Serie und den Film wirklich weiterempfehlen. Wenn ihr mich sucht, ich bin dann mal im nächsten Band verschwunden.

I'm glad to see that the storytelling style is improving a little here. Asuna is a fun character to slip into, way more relatable here than she is in the anime. Kirito is also much more bearable in this format too -he seems more human at some points.
I really do like how this style makes the series more real. In the anime, it jumps all over the place, leaving out certain parts, and squeezing all the content into a tiny timeframe. The manga seems to stretch it all out and make it more realistic. It's way more fun to see these characters actually growing into their styles.

I wonder whether Asuna is going to take a fanservicey bath in every single volume . . . ? Ha, that said, I enjoy the characters, story, and fantasy world a lot.

Pretty Good...
As an avid manga reader, I was a touch disappointed with the end. You can see it coming, and I think Asuna's obsession with the "soul of her sword" was a touch overplayed. All in all, it is still a good read for any sao fans.

I still think the events presented in this manga read like they clash with the original telling and timeline of SAO, but I did like the bit about the souls of objects and bringing part of the old to add to the new.

Toujours un régal ce Progressive qui détaille vraiment très bien la conquête de Aincrad ♥
Et puis j'apprécie que les personnages soient bien plus approfondis, la relation entre Asuna et Kirito est bien plus intéressante et on peut enfin en comprendre les fondements!

Wow, really enjoyed it! So good! Loved it & Loved seeing Kirito & Asuna fight together! Love them together as a couple too omg! : ) enjoying the season 2 of the anime too! : ) definitely recommend this manga & anime series! : )

It's nice to see the words come to life and the character and world art is pretty nice. Liked this volume too.
