A deeply personal, well-written book which tackles a National issue - hoarding- in a completely new way. You don't have to be a hoarder or even know one to be moved by the author's insight into the reasons why we keep what we keep in our private lives.
Her one-year journey clearing out a cousin's jam-packed house leads to family secrets revealed, surprising help from unexpected sources, a new understanding of the power of objects in our lives ... and compassionate insights into the human condition.
This is a warm page-turner, which gave me a new perspective on what to keep, what to let go ... and what memories will live on. Highly recommended!
Truly a wonderful experience and insight into the life that some of us have dealt with when certain loved ones pass, or don’t have a choice left. As a family member of a hoarder myself, I understand the challenges, laughs, memories, and sorrows of going through a house or space such as theirs. Seeing a similar experience to mine written out clear as day makes me appreciate what I went through and who else helped me through it. As a quick reader, it’s beautiful to see such a big change in life so well written and concise. Thank you Eileen Stukane for the gorgeous experience, It helped me truly move on from what I had to deal with and cherish the memories I was gifted again.
The book covered a topic that is not often discussed with useful information and resources. The author tells a story that shows empathy, compassion and offers useful tips for anyone encountering a similar situation.
